n October 5, people around the world celebrate World Teachers’ Day—a special day to thank teachers for all the important work they do. Teachers help children learn new things, discover skills and talents, and grow into smart and confident people. They make a big difference in our lives and help shape our futures. Being a teacher is not always easy and, in some places, teachers do not have enough supplies or resources for their classrooms. Still, they work hard to help their students succeed.

How You Can Say “Thank You” to Your Teachers
Write them a thank-you note or draw them a picture. Be a good listener in class. Ask your teacher if there is anything you can do to help them. Help tidy up the classroom or put things away when you’re finished with them. Remember to say “please” and “thank you,” and show kindness every day.

oshua was leading God’s people through a desert to the Promised Land.
God’s people had been looking for it for a long time. They knew it would be wonderful. Joshua knew that the people who lived there already might not want God’s people to come there. But Joshua knew that God would help His people go into the Promised Land. One day, they came to Jericho, a city with BIG walls. God told Joshua: “March around the city walls every morning for six days. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times and have seven priests blow seven trumpets. After the trumpets blast, have all the people give a loud shout.” The seventh time they marched around, those great walls came roaring down! The people of God had won the day.

long time ago in Babylon, there was a king called Nebuchadnezzar. He thought he was the best king ever, so he created a gold statue of himself. It was about 90 metres tall. Nebuchadnezzar made a law that everyone in his kingdom had to bow down and worship his statue. “Whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace,” the law ordered. But there were three men who would not bow down. Their names were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were followers of God and would only worship Him. When Nebuchadnezzar found out that they would not bow down, he was very angry. He ordered the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than normal. He had his men tie them up with ropes and throw them into the furnace. Nebuchadnezzar looked into the furnace and was astonished. “Did we not put three men into the fire?” he asked his counsellors. “But I see four men walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.” He called the three men to come out and praised the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. “There is no other god who is able to rescue in this way,” he said.

Peace in the Storm
Hi kids! In this issue of Just for Kids, you will read about a time when Jesus and His disciples were caught in a storm while sailing on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples thought they might die, but Jesus made everything peaceful. Before Jesus died on the cross, He told His disciples what would happen so they would be prepared. Jesus reassured them: “I have told you these things, so that you can have peace because of Me. In this world you will have trouble. But be encouraged! I have won the battle over the world” (John 16:33). No matter what is happening in our lives, we can trust in God to bring us peace when we need it.

esus spent the day teaching people about the kingdom of God by the Sea of Galilee. When evening came, Jesus said to His disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” A wild storm came up. Waves crashed over the boat. It was about to sink. Jesus was in the back, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him up. They said, “Teacher! Don’t You care if we drown?” Jesus got up and ordered the wind to stop. He said to the waves, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind died down. It was completely calm. Jesus said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Don’t you have any faith?” ISSU
