Have you heard of the term ‘GOAT’ before? It stands for ‘Greatest of All Time’ and it’s often used to describe someone who’s better at something than anyone else in the world – in fact everyone who’s ever lived! In a new film called Goat, a teenager called Will Harris wants to become the greatest professional roarball player in the world.
The only problem is that this teen who dreams of being a GOAT is actually … well, a goat! To be more precise, he’s a Boer goat–which means that he’s particularly small, and not the kind of athlete you’d expect to find playing roarball. Will lives in a world where humans don’t exist, and it’s just the fiercest and greatest animals that play roarball!
So when Will is invited to join a roarball team, he finds himself playing with animals such as a black panther, a giraffe and a rhinoceros! Now he’ll need to prove that a small animal can be just as impressive as a giant one, even if it pushes him to his limits. He’ll also have to compete to be the GOAT against one of the best players in the world – a horse called Mane Attraction!
You can watch ‘Goat’ in cinemas now. The film is rated PG, which stands for parental guidance. Parents or carers can read more about this rating at bbfc.co.uk before deciding if it’s suitable for their family.
Will Harris has a big challenge on his hooves! I’m excited to see how he gets on when competing against the bigger animals in roarball. Do you think he’s up to the challenge, even though he’s only small?
The Bible is full of stories of little people who did incredible things – one of the most famous is about David and Goliath. David was a small shepherd boy, but he managed to defeat the giant Goliath. Nobody expected David to win, but David knew he had God on his side, and that gave him the strength he needed. I don’t mean that God gave David massive muscles and made him as tall as one of the Gladiators from the TV programme! God gave him courage and belief in himself, as well as wisdom to choose the best way to win. Just like David, God’s on your side too, and with his help you can also do incredible things.

Promise Keeper
If I promised to build you a castle, lend you i ia jetpack or give you a giant gorilla, would you believe me? I hope you wouldn’t – those are ridiculous promises! In this week’s Bible cartoon, the Israelites had to trust a promise that God had made them. This was a promise that might have seemed as silly to them as the ones I’ve suggested.
Years ago, God told the Israelites that he would give them a massive area of land as their home, which they called the Promised Land. Now the time had come for the Israelites to take over the Promised Land from the people already living there, and it seemed like it might be an impossible job!
However, God had a clear message for Joshua, who was the leader of the Israelites. Although Joshua was facing a tricky situation, he needed to be strong and courageous. This meant trusting in God and following his instructions, even though that might have seemed like the hardest thing to do. Joshua could do this because God would be with him –and because God always keeps his promises! The same is true for us now. We can trust that God always keeps every promise he makes, such as the promise that we’ll join his family if we follow him! Because God is a promise keeper, we can be strong and courageous too. We can trust in him and follow him, no matter what we face. We can know that God is always with us and has brilliant plans for us!

A-maze-ing Promises
Help Joshua and the Israelites to reach the Promised Land by guiding them through this tricky maze! While you’re solving this puzzle, take time to remember that God guides us through everything we face and always keeps his promises.

Bumper Bible Breakdown
Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.
Cornerstone
Many years after Jesus returned to Heaven, Peter (a disciple of Jesus) was still telling people how brilliant Jesus was! In fact, while Peter was living in Rome, he wrote a letter for Christians who were going through tough times.
This letter encouraged Christians to keep following Jesus, even though people were being horrible to them. They should act in a way that would please God and they should love one another.
Peter also wrote that each Christian was like a stone. Peter wanted Christians to know that just like lots of stones come together to create a house, every Christian is an important part of God’s family!
Old houses also used to have an important stone which kept the building from tumbling, which was known as a cornerstone. Peter wanted Christians to know that Jesus was (and still is) the cornerstone of God’s family, as he’s what holds the family together!

? ? ? ?
HELLO, READERS, I’VE LOST A VERY IMPORTANT OBJECT SOMEWHERE IN THE ISSUE. WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO HELP ME FIND IT? I HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE HERE.
Hello! I’m Jonny and I’m a firefighter. I’ve been doing this job for 16 years and I love it. Before I became a firefighter, I actually worked at Kids Alive! (which is another brilliant job).
Firefighters don’t have normal days at work. What we do depends on where we are needed. We might rescue people, put out a fire, help at a car accident, deal with a chemical spill or even save a cat that’s stuck up a tree! When we’re not responding to an emergency, we spend a lot of our time preparing for them by practising our skills.
The best thing about being a firefighter is being able to help people whenever we can, and how friendly and grateful people are to us. It’s lovely being appreciated for what we do, and it’s especially nice when children wave at us as we drive past. If you wave at us, we’ll always try to wave back when we spot you!
This is a job in which being good at solving problems and being good with your hands are very useful. So if you’d like to become a firefighter one day, these are definitely things you can practise. Try doing something practical, such as helping to cook, playing outside, building models, completing

I was born in 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. I played 15 seasons in the NBA. I helped the Chicago Bulls win six NBA championships and I was the star player in all of them.
I jumped so high when doing a slamdunk that people said it looked like I was flying through the air. This earned me the nickname ‘Air Jordan’. After my first retirement from basketball, I played professional baseball. I starred in the original Space Jam film. I’m considered the GOAT in basketball. Can you guess who I am?

What do you often carry in your backpack? If you take a backpack with you on a trip to the beach, it might have a towel, some sun cream and a spade inside. Or if you’re wearing your backpack on a nature walk, it might be hiding a book about plants and some birdwatching binoculars! Since our backpacks often carry such amazing things, why shouldn’t they look fantastic too? Disney YuYus are perfect for making backpacks way more exciting than they were before! These little plush toys are designed to clip on to bags, backpacks and key rings. Plus, they’re based on two beloved Disney franchises – Winnie the Pooh and Lilo and Stitch! If that’s not exciting enough, then just wait until you see the plushies –they’re cuter than a kitten. That’s because each plush has Winnie the Pooh or Stitch wearing a different adorable animal costume! So if you want to take a super-cute Disney character with you everywhere you go, this is the competition for you!

International Mother Language Day
If you’ve ever been to another country, then you might have noticed that lots of people were speaking in a language you couldn’t understand. In fact, English is just one of around 7,000 languages that are used around the world!
Although we might not always understand what people are saying, living in a world with many languages is a wonderful thing. Every language has its own history and really means something to the people who speak it!
Mum Day!
It’s International Mother Language Day today (21 February). Don’t get confused – this isn’t a day about mums! A mother language is the language that someone first learns to speak as a baby. So this is a day to celebrate all the different languages that people have been using for most of their lives.
What’s the Point?
Getting excited about the many languages spoken around the world is a really important thing to do. That’s because people can often use the fact that they can’t understand other languages as a way to ignore other people, or to argue with them.
They might even claim that their language is better than anyone else’s! That’s simply not true. Every language is fantastic and deserves to be shown respect.
Languages in the UK
In the UK, the main mother languages that people have are English and Welsh. However, there are plenty of other mother languages in the UK that we want to celebrate too. Let’s find out about a few of the most used – and also learn how to say ‘hello’ in them!
Polish
More than 600,000 people speak Polish as their main language in the UK. Polish is a language that comes from Poland, and one of its big differences from English is that it has 32 letters in its alphabet. If you wanted to say hello to someone in Polish, you might say cześć!
,
Romanian
According to a study taken in 2021, around 470,000 people use Romanian as their main language in the UK. Romanian began in Romania around 1,700 years ago, and it’s pretty similar to Italian and Spanish. The way to say hello in Romania is bună (which means ‘good’).
, B , C , D , E, F, G, H , I , Î , J, K, L,M,N,O,P,Q
Punjabi
The next most popular language in the UK is Punjabi, which is spoken by around 300,000 people in England and Wales. Punjabi is the official language of Delhi, India – but it’s also the 10th most popular language in the world! There are lots of ways to say hi to someone in Punjabi, but one of the most popular is Sat sri akaal
Your Turn
Here are a few ideas for how you could celebrate International Mother Language Day…

We’re Celebrating Too!
team have been celebrating International Mother Language Day too! We love that our readers speak lots of different languages, and that we have readers who live all around the world. We’ve even had colourings sent to us from readers who live in Tonga in the Pacific (Mālō e lelei, Tongan readers)!
Over the 7,501 issues we’ve published (yes, we’ve made that many, and this is actually our 7,501st issue), we think we’ll have had readers from more places than we can even imagine. So to all of our readers who speak so many different mother languages, we have one thing to say to you – thank you for being a fan of Kids Alive!
