WIn Your Dreams ON NETFLIX NOW
hat’s the best dream you’ve ever had? Perhaps you’ve dreamt that you’ve explored the deepest depths of the ocean in a submarine made of lollipops. Or maybe you’ve dreamt about riding on the back of a dinosaur, launching into space in a rocket or befriending a beautiful unicorn. In a new film called In Your Dreams, two siblings called Stevie and Elliot journey into some of their best dreams – and also some of their worst!
After finding a special book in a dusty shop, Stevie and Elliot discover that they can now journey into their dreams together when they go to sleep. Some of these dreams are amazing, such as the dream in which Stevie and Elliot go to a town full of walking and talking food. However, some of their dreams are pretty terrible. In fact, they’re so awful that there’s only one word for them – they’re nightmares!
But Stevie and Elliot won’t stop exploring their dreams until they find a magical being called the Sandman! This is because they believe the Sandman can help to fix a problem they’re facing in the real world. Stevie and Elliot’s mum and dad are unhappy with one another, and the siblings believe that only the Sandman can make their family perfect again. However, the pair might just discover that it’s not through the powers of the Sandman that they can save their family – it’s by working together!
‘In Your Dreams’ is available to watch on Netflix now
Dreams can be a bit crazy and hard to understand, but they can also be lovely! They can show us how perfect the world could be – where there are no problems or worries. My perfect dream world would be by the seaside on a sunny day, where everything is calm and happy. However, as Stevie from In Your Dreams soon discovers, the dream world isn’t the real world. Escaping to the dream world doesn’t solve Stevie’s problems or fix anything. It’s just pretend. Unfortunately, there will always be scary or worrying things in our lives. When confronted with these things, we have to find something or someone to help us get through them. In these difficult moments, you might talk to your family or friends and ask for help, but I hope that you also know that you can talk to God. He is always there, and always ready to help us in times of trouble.
Point to God
Iif you read last week’s Bible cartoon, you might fhave been on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next! The prophets of Baal had tried and failed to get their false god to send fire from Heaven. Now it was Elijah’s turn and what happened next was incredible.
Elijah stepped forward and prayed. He asked God to do something so amazing that everyone watching would know the truth – that God was real and they should follow him. And guess what? God answered! Fire came blazing down from Heaven and burnt up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and even the water around the altar! Everyone saw it and knew that Elijah’s God was the one true God. Many people turned away from Baal that day and chose to follow God instead. Wouldn’t it be awesome to pray like that and to see God’s power in action? The cool thing is that this story shows us how. Did you notice the two things that Elijah asked for? Elijah didn’t pray to show off or to make himself look good. He prayed so that people would know how real and powerful God is.
When our prayers point to God, showing his love and power, amazing things can happen. God loves to answer prayers that help people to see who he is and how much he cares for them.
Read the comment to the right about praying powerful prayers
Powerful Prayer
Finish Elijah’s prayer, which pointed the people back to God, by rearranging the words in each flame. Then place each word into the right place. Clue –1 Kings 18:37, ‘International Children’s Bible’
‘Show these people that you, Lord, are God.
Can you think of someone who doesn’t know God yet? Why not pray a bold prayer like Elijah did? Ask God to do something special that will show them that he’s real, and as you keep faithfully following God, your life will point others to him too.

Bumper Bible Breakdown
Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.
Courageous Christians
Paul travelled to lots of different cities to share the good news of Jesus, but he wasn’t always treated brilliantly by the people he met. In a city called Thessalonica, Paul had to run away because some of the people living there wanted to hurt Christians!
Paul was worried about whether the church in Thessalonica would survive, so he sent a pal called Timothy to check on them. Timothy discovered that although it was definitely really hard to be a Christian in Thessalonica, the church was still courageously following Jesus.
So Paul sent a letter to the church to encourage them to continue to live in a way that would please God, and to remember that a time was coming when they would live with Jesus in Heaven. They should work hard, treat one another well and celebrate Jesus’ love for them!

Patch’s Problem...? ? ?
HELLO, READERS, I’VE LOST A VERY IMPORTANT OBJECT SOMEWHERE IN THE ISSUE. WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO HELP ME FIND IT? I HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE HERE.
My name’s Francesca and I’m a vet. My job is to help animals by making sure they stay healthy, and by taking care of them when they’re sick. Every day as a vet is different, as we see so many different patients. My day always starts with a big meeting with my team. Then I’ll start meeting my patients. I’ll listen to their hearts, check their eyes and ears and feel their tummies. We might also do a blood test or an X-ray. They always get a little pat or some belly rubs (and maybe even a treat, if they’ve been good).
Some days, we do operations on our patients. Unfortunately, some dogs like to eat socks and toys, and we have to remove them from their stomachs! We also might have to fix a broken leg or take out a wobbly tooth.
I first decided I wanted to be a vet when I was a little girl. I’ve always loved dogs and always known I wanted to work with animals. To do this, I needed to go to university. I also had to get some experience in a vet practice and learn to take care of animals. I think it’s the best job in the world and I recommend it to anyone who loves solving problems, meeting new people and helping animals!

Living a healthy and active lifestyle, and caring for your physical, mental and spiritual well-being
World Toilet Day
Did you know that over the course of their whole life, the average person spends a total of around 26 years sleeping? They’ll also spend around 13 years at work, 4.5 years munching on food and – believe it or not – 3 years going to the toilet!
We don’t talk about toilets very much in Kids Alive! (and it would be a bit strange if we did), but the truth is that going to the loo is a big part of our lives – and the lives of everyone else in the world.
In the UK, most people will have access to a safe toilet. However, that’s not the case in many other places. Around 3.4 billion people don’t have a safe toilet they can use!
Safe Toilets
A safe toilet is the name that’s often used for a ‘safely managed sanitation service’ (which might just be the best tongue twister that’s ever been invented). These are toilets that don’t have to be shared by lots of households, and where human waste is removed in a safe way.
When someone doesn’t have access to a clean toilet, this increases the risk of them catching diseases! Plus, without safe toilets in schools, lots of girls in some countries have to go home to use one. This means they’re missing out on their education!
Toilets for Everyone
Everyone in the world should have access to safe toilets, shouldn’t they? That’s exactly what World Toilet Day is all about. This special day, which takes place this Wednesday (19 November), reminds people of the need to fight for everyone to have safe loos.
These toilets should be easy to use for all people, and they should be able to withstand difficult conditions that different climates might bring, such as floods and droughts (which are long periods of time when there’s no rain).
A Loo-k to the Future
In the future, there should be toilets all over the world, including every place where people live, such as forests, mountains and desert islands. In fact, if humans went to another planet, they should even build a safe toilet there!
Use the space below to design a toilet that might be used on another planet.
Your Turn
There are three things you can do to take part in World Toilet Day…
Raise Awareness
Tell others about World Toilet Day! You could make a poster to put up in your window or ask a leader at your church if they could pray about it during a service.
In fact, someone at the church that one of the Kids Alive! team goes to raised awareness about many people not having a safe toilet. The church was really moved by this, so they decided to help pay for one in a village in another country.
Raise Money
You could put on a fundraiser to gather money to give to a charity such as The Salvation Army, which publishes Kids Alive! – and which also works to provide safe toilets around the world. You could even take part in ‘Spend a Penny, Give a Pound’, which encourages people to donate a pound coin every time they use the loo!
Be Thankful
If you have a safe toilet that you can use, then you have something that billions of people don’t have. So the next time that you’re scrubbing your hands under a tap after using the loo, remember to be thankful for what you have.
Find out more about fundraising for The Salvation Army by visiting salvationarmy.org.uk/international-development/areas-work/clean-water
Everyone in the world deserves a safe toilet, so take part in World Toilet Day!

There’s some really exciting stuff happening at Watchet Salvation Army! Each Camp Fire Church also ends with a blessing and yummy s’mores!
Camp Fire Church happens in lots of different places across the town, including the park, the beach, the church and the Salvation Army hall. Watchet Salvation Army’s leader, Sam, says that it’s a really important thing to do, and it’s so exciting that families want to come and learn and have fun!
