WMOANA in cinemas now

hat would it take for you to leave the place where you live, not knowing for sure that you’d be able to come back? For a young girl called Moana, it’s a mission to save her home island of Motunui from destruction! To protect the people Moana loves, such as her Gramma Tala, Moana will need to journey out into the ocean for the rst time. Travelling past the barrier reef, she’ll be joined by a demigod called Maui and…

Hang on – doesn’t this all sound very familiar? We’re describing the plot of an animated lm called Moana, which came out all the way back in 2016. However, the story of Moana’s rst amazing adventure is back on big screens all over the world, and it looks better than it ever has before!

This retelling of Moana is live action, which means it features real people and places. In other words, this new version of Moana might look as real as the people sitting next to you in the cinema! Now you can watch as Moana takes on a giant crab, Maui shapeshifts into awesome animals and the pair journey to restore the heart of Te Fiti – and it will actually feel like you’re on a real adventure with them!

You can watch ‘Moana’ in cinemas now. The film is rated PG, which stands for parental guidance. Parents or carers can read more about this rating at bbfc.co.uk before deciding if it’s suitable for their family.

I‛ve just been having a sing-along to ‘How Far I‛ll Go‛ from Moana. What a great song! It‛s about Moana trying to work out what she should be doing with her life. Should she stay at home like her dad wants her to, or should she go beyond the reef where she feels she‛s being called to go?

What do you want to be when you grow up? For some people that‛s an easy question, for others it‛s much more difficult. It might help you to know that when I was a kid, being the editor wasn‛t on my list of possible jobs. It hadn‛t even occurred to me! However, things seemed to fall into place, and now I know I‛m exactly where God wants me to be. And guess what? God has a plan for your life too, so listen to him and let him show you where you should go!

ow do you and your classmates respond iiwhen your teacher asks for a volunteer to do a special job? Something like taking the register to the office, handing out books to the class or getting some equipment ready for a fun science experiment. I reckon a whole load of hands would shoot into the air.

What if you were asked to go to the headteacher’s office? Would your hand shoot up then? Imagine getting there to find out the headteacher wanted you to deliver a message to the whole school: ‘The headteacher is very unhappy with everyone’s behaviour – all playtimes for the rest of the week are cancelled!’ Is that a job you would want to do?

That’s kind of what God wanted Isaiah – the main character in this week’s cartoon Bible story – to do. God asked Isaiah to tell the people that if they didn’t improve their behaviour, he was going to destroy them. That’s not a job I would want to do.

Instead of ignoring God or running away, Isaiah said, ‘Here I am. Send me!’ But why? Well, Isaiah knew and understood God really well. Even though God’s message sounded mean, Isaiah knew that God loved his people, wanted the best for them and was giving them an opportunity to change for good.

Do you know that God loves you? Do you know he wants the best for you? Is God asking you to change for good or do something for him? Will you say yes?

Word Pyramid

Starting at the top of the pyramid, add a letter to each row to form a new word. The bottom row will reveal a word that relates to Isaiah – the main character in this week’s cartoon Bible story. We’ve given you some clues to help you.

HELLO, READERS, I’VE LOST A VERY IMPORTANT OBJECT SOMEWHERE IN THE ISSUE. WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO HELP ME FIND IT? I HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE HERE.

World Wonder

Empire State Building

Until 1974, the Empire State Building in New York City, USA was the tallest building in the world. Including the antenna, it’s 443 metres tall – that’s the same distance as 79 New York taxis lined up!

This super structure opened in 1931, and the design is based on a pencil. Around 3,400 people were employed to build the masterpiece and they worked hard – the building was constructed in one year and 45 days, with around 4.5 floors being built every week!

Our world is pretty awesome! All around the globe there are magnificent things to see. So jump in our imaginary jumbo jet and travel the world with us!

Millions of people visit the Empire State Building every year. Hopefully not during a lightning storm, though – the building is struck by lightning around 25 times every year!

Spectacular Summer

Has your summer holiday already started, or is it creeping up on you faster than a scuttling bug? Without long maths lessons, fab assemblies and bonkers lunchtime antics to keep you busy, you might nd yourself struggling to know what to get up to. In this new series, we’ve got tons of ideas to keep you entertained for the whole summer!

Out and About

Spotting Wildlife

If the sun’s shining and you’re itching for something fun to get up to outside, try…

You don’t need to be as good with a paintbrush as Vincent van Gogh to be a fantastic artist! Instead, you could use natural materials to create wild art. These include items such as leaves, feathers, twigs and pebbles.

To nd materials for your wild art, you could go for a walk in the park or woods and collect any interesting items that you discover. Then you could arrange the materials into a cool pattern and take a photo of your creation. Or you could glue them onto a piece of paper!

Save It for a Rainy Day

Heavy rain, fierce wind – sometimes the weather’s so horrid you can’t go outside! The next time it’s a rainy day, try…

Reading a Book

We know – thismight not be the most exciting suggestion in the world! However, reading is actually really good for you. It can help you to learn amazing new things, and it can help to develop important skills that you’ll use at school.

Whether you’re exploring the world of CS Lewis’s Narnia series or going on an adventure with the InvestiGators, reading a good book will de nitely cheer you up when the weather’s bad!
