Fans of that famous ‘chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff’ ha ve something to celebrate this week, as Monday 18 Januar y is Winnie-the-Pooh Da y. Celebrated on the birthday of Pooh Bear’ s creator AA Milne, it’s one special day Pooh fan s just can’t bear to m iss ! Good old Winnie mad e his first appearance as Edward Bear in the po em ‘When We Were Yo un g’ in 1924. He had to wa it till 1926 to be given his full name in his first bo ok, Winnie-the-Pooh . Nearly 100 years, four book s and six feature film s later, Winnie must be one of the most loved bears in the world. Of course, the stories aren’t just about good old Pooh. They’re about the friendship and ad ventures of Pooh, Piglet, Tigge r and Eeyore – all of wh ich were based on toys ow ned by AA Milne’s so n, Christopher Robin, wh o also features in the ta les . So what can you do to mark Winnie-the-Po oh Day? Well, you could do Po oh’s very favourite th ing, which is nothing, although we think it’s far better to do something! Why not gather your cuddly to ys and family together for a teddy bears’ picnic fo r tea? You could follow that by re ading one of Winnie’s tales or relax while you enjoy a Winnie-the-Pooh film . If you’re feeling more en ergetic, you could he ad into the woods for a walk and if you’re fortunate enough to live by a bridge ov er a river, you could pla y a game of Poohsticks. Whate ver you do on Winniethe-Pooh Day, beware of Heffalum ps and Woozles, and have fun!
I’m not really a Winnie-the-Pooh fan, but now seems like a good time to step into the wonderful world of Hundred Acre Wood. And it just so happens that we have a collection of Winnie-the-Pooh books sitting on our bookshelf. On the back of one of the books there’s a picture of Christopher Robin looking a bit lonely and thoughtful with a quote that says ‘Wherever I am, there’s always Pooh, There’s always Pooh and Me.’ Lots of you will be missing your friends and feeling a bit lonely at the moment. Why not drop them a line to say, ‘Hi?’ They’re probably missing you too. One friend I’d encourage you to stay in touch with is Jesus. Wherever you are and however you feel, remember, there’s always Jesus, there’s always Jesus and you. Why not make some time to have a chat with him? He’d love to hear from you!

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT GOD’S GIFT OF HIS SON JESUS
The Greatest Gift
by John Mitchinson
D
how Jesus could be a gift to us – and, actually, you’re not alone there, because even the disciples (who were Jesus’ best friends) didn’t really understand how Jesus was a gift from God. One night Jesus met with his friends for an important meal that became known as the Lord’s Supper. He explained to them that he would die and said that when he died, God would make a wonderful new promise with all people that we could have a special relationship with him for ever. That’s certainly something that can’t be wrapped, but what a wonderful gift for us all!
oesn’t Christmas seem a long time ago now? Did you maybe get one or two presents on the big day? Gifts are great – they’re really great! – but actually, and maybe this is something you realise more as you get a little older, sometimes the best gifts aren’t ones that come in big boxes, or with big bows on them. Sometimes the best gifts are when people spend time with you, or listen to you, or do something for you: things that can’t be wrapped. Jesus is a gift from God that doesn’t come wrapped up in a big box, but he’s the greatest gift we’ll ever be given. Now, you might be wondering
GUESS THE GIFT
Sporty Seth is thinking about the gifts he received for Christmas. Look at the wrapped prezzies and work out what he got. Then write each gift into the grid (we’ve written in some letters to help you). A new word will appear in the yellow column. 1 2

IT’S THE DAY OF THE PASSOVER AND JESUS IS TALKING TO HIS FRIENDS.
OF COURSE, JESUS, BUT WHICH ROOM?
PETER AND JOHN, PLEASE GET THE ROOM READY FOR THE PASSOVER MEAL.
JESUS EXPLAINS THAT WHEN THEY GET TO THE CITY, A MAN CARRYING WATER WILL MEET THEM. Follow that man! He will take you to a house.
THAT NIGHT AT THE PASSOVER MEAL… I’VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO SHARING THIS MEAL WITH YOU.
The owner of that house will have a room for you.
FRIENDS, SOON I’M GOING TO DIE. LISTEN CAREFULLY…
…THIS IS PART OF GOD’S PLAN. HE’s going to MAKE a NEW PROMISE, SO THAT ONE DAY YOU CAN LIVE WITH ME IN HEAVEN FOR EVER.

Praying with Jesus Prayers are special because they’re an opportunity to share everything that’s on our minds with Jesus. Prayers have the power to change how we feel by filling us with hope and courage. In the Bible there are loads of examples of prayer changing people’s situations. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul encourages believers to always pray. Using stories of Jesus from the Bible, we want to encourage you to pray too.
with KA! JAM Co-ordinator Ibukun Baku
NOW YOU PRAY
Use the space to write a prayer. You can thank God for your day, share any concerns or pray for someone who may need help to change.
Mark 5:1–20 There was a man who had evil spirits living in him. The spirits caused him to suffer night and day. When he saw Jesus, the man knelt down and begged to be left alone. Jesus told the spirits to leave the man and they fled into a herd of pigs. Feeling much better, the man asked if he could go with Jesus, but Jesus told him to return home and tell everyone the great thing God had done for him. If you’re a KA! JAM member, check out your KAPAC 9 to read the full story or sign up below to start your KA! JAM journey

Write Your Own Toy Story
If you’ve read page 3, you’ll know the Winnie-the-Pooh stories were inspired by the cuddly toys that belonged to AA Milne’s son, Christopher Robin. So what better way to celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh Day than to write a story using your own toys to set your imagination running? Just grab a load of your favourite toys, find an inspirational place to work and get scribbling in the space below. Perhaps your toys will venture into outer space, dive down to the ocean depths or just enjoy a fun day out together – you know your toys the best! If the space below isn’t enough, keep going on another piece (or more pieces) of paper. And if writing isn’t your thing, simply draw a picture of your favourite toy instead.

There might be a few Eeyore-ish peo ple around on Monday, because it’s Blue Monday – a day that some experts say is the most depressing of the yea r. This is usually because the excitement of Christmas has passed and the weather is cold.
different Of course, there’s nothing really kes it ma t about Monday 18 January tha day. In more depressing than any other ga fact, some people think that labellin kes ma just ’ sing day as ‘the most depres at k loo people feel even worse! So let’s ! way ways to use the day in a positive
Think of Others One way to make yourself feel happy is to improve the happiness of others. So on Monday you could make an effort to cheer somebody else up. Write someone a special letter or draw them a picture, ask your parents or guardians to help you deliver some flowers to a lonely neighbour or help your younger sibling with their schoolwork.
Enjoy the Outdoors Fresh air and exercise are really important for mental well-being. With coronavirus restrictions in place across the UK it’ll be difficult to explore anywhere new this week, but going on a walk to your local woods, playing in your favourite playground or visiting a local lake or pond to see some wildlife can all help lift your mood.

Get Lost in a Book You can also have fun indoors by getting lost in a good book. You could start re-reading one of your favourites or try something completely new. Either way, reading is a fantastic way to escape to other places when it’s not possible to in real life.
Fundraising Fun What about using Monday to raise some money for others? You could organise a sponsored silence, readathon or bike ride and donate the money to a charity. Or you could use the money you raise to buy food and other essentials for a local food bank!
Talk All About It However you’re feeling it’s always a good idea to share how you feel with someone you trust. That could be your parents, guardians, another family member, teachers or Sunday school leaders. They might be able to help you fix some of the problems that are worrying you and even if they can’t fix the problem, having someone listen to you can make you feel much better.
Focusing on the good things in your life is really important. That doesn’t mean you ignore the things that worry you or make you feel anxious, but thinking positively can help when you’re feeling gloomy. It could be big things, such as your warm, safe home, but it could also be little things, such as the fact you’re having your favourite meal that evening.
Living a healthy and an active lifestyle and caring for your physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Have a think about the big and little things that make you happy each day. You could even write a few down in a notebook each day so that you can read back over them at the end of the week and remember your happy moments.

Zoom Into Peace On the second Sunday in Advent the young people at Maidstone Salvation Army enjoyed a special Zoom meeting with Salvation Army officers working overseas. The countries represented were Belgium, Switzerland, Moldova, Ghana, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Taiwan and Australia. It was exciting to see the faces of some of the officers the kids have sent Christmas cards to in the past. The young people and officers joined in activities together and watched a video that helped them to learn about God’s plan for peace on Earth – a personal relationship with him. Each of the officers described peace in the country where they work and asked for prayers for that country. Each prayer topic was given to one of the children, Sunday school leaders or officers, who then wrote a prayer on a candle they had drawn. You can see the candle prayers below. The children were also challenged to find all the countries represented by the officers on an online world map, by adding a candle in the right places. Towards the end of the meeting, each child had a lit candle which they pretended to pass across their screen to the person who they had prayed for. The meeting ended with a song as the world map of lit candles was shown.
