f you love Snoopy and have a passion for space, science and technology, then Snoopy in Space is the programme for you! Snoopy and the gang are ready for their next big adventure – an epic journey across the universe to tackle one of life’s big mysteries: is there any life out there? In season one they explored the moon and visited a space station, so who knows what crazy adventures they’ll get up to this time? Astronaut Snoopy and his sidekick Woodstock will be joined by friends Charlie Brown, Franklin, Marcie, Linus and the rest of the Peanuts gang. On their epic interstellar ‘road trip’, Snoopy and his friends will use exciting new NASA research. From searching for ice and ancient fossils on Mars, to exploring oceans on distant moons and even looking for planets beyond our own solar system, they’ll be busy! This programme will reveal some of the amazing science and technology that astronauts use for space exploration, and help viewers learn how to be resilient and use their imaginations when solving problems. Let the adventure begin! Season two of ‘Snoopy in Space’ will be released on Apple TV+ on 12 November
When I was really young I sang a song in Sunday school that went: ‘In space rockets soon, we’ll zoom to the moon. Before we get there, our hearts will prepare to walk with the Lord on Earth where he trod and follow wherever he leads.’ That was more than 40 years ago and we’re still not zooming to the moon in space rockets. However, you probably know that a couple of super rich people have blasted into space this year. One of those, Sir Richard Branson, had dreamed of going into space since he was a kid and hopes that everyone can be astronauts one day. Whatever hopes and dreams you have for your future, make sure your heart’s in tune with Jesus and keep him at the centre of everything you do. When you choose to follow Jesus, he’ll lead you to do amazing things!

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT ALWAYS TRUSTING GOD
God Will Never Leave You!
I
love Psalm 139! It describes how God will be with us even if we somehow end up in space, at the bottom of the ocean, on the opposite side of the world or in the darkest cave. He will never leave us no matter where we are, how we’re feeling or whatever tricky times we’re going through! How do we know this is true? Joseph’s life is just one example in the Bible of how God helps his people in difficult situations. God told Joseph in a dream that he would become so important that even his family would bow down to him. But when he told his brothers, they were so angry and jealous they threw Joseph into a deep pit and left him to die! Then they sold him to slave traders who dragged him off to a
says Melita Day-Lewis
foreign country and made him work for an Egyptian official. Imagine how sad and confused Joseph felt. Perhaps he thought God had ditched him and no longer cared about him. But that wasn’t true! You probably know the end of the story (spoiler alert if you don’t!). After going through loads of tough stuff, Joseph was made the prime minister of Egypt! God had an awesome plan for Joseph’s life. In spite of all the bad stuff that happened to Joseph, God made things good and still brought that plan about. Through it all, Joseph trusted God – in a pit, as a slave and even in prison! God has an amazing plan for your life too, so keep trusting him – he’s always with you!

Kids Alive! is 140 years old, so let’s take a peek each week at some historic happenings in each decade from 1881 to 2021… The Channel Tunnel was opened on 6 May 1994. The railway tunnel is about 51 kilometres long and runs under the sea from Folkestone, England to Coquelles, France. It has the longest underwater section of any tunnel in the world! On 10 May 1994 apartheid in South Africa ended and Nelson Mandela was elected as the country’s first black president. Nelson Mandela had previously spent 27 years in jail for campaigning against apartheid, which was put in place by the government to keep black and white people separated. The first computer-animated feature film, Toy Story, was released in the USA on 22 November 1995. It was also the first full-length Pixar movie.
The first DVDs (digital versatile discs) were released in Japan in November 1996, in the USA in March 1997 and arrived in the UK in June 1997.

COP 26What Is COP26?
P26 taking out something called CO You may have heard ab out? you know what it’s all ab place in Glasgow. But do
COP stands for Conference of the Parties. It’s a global summit which takes place each year in a different location around the world. Representatives from more than 190 countries will come together to talk about climate change and make commitments to tackle the problem. This year, the conference is taking place in Glasgow from 31 October – 12 November. It’s the 26th one, which is why it is called COP26.
Why Does It Matter? It’s an especially important event for the United Kingdom because, as hosts of COP26, people all over the world will be looking to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the UK government to lead the way on making real promises to tackle climate change.
Why Should We Care About Climate Change? God created the Earth and everything in it. He gave humans the special responsibility of taking care of the rest of creation. Sadly, people do lots of things that damage the Earth, instead of protecting it. As a result, climate change is causing a lot of problems for people, plants and animals. Extreme weather events such as floods, heatwaves and droughts are becoming more common. These can destroy people’s homes or prevent crops from growing, which means people do not have enough food to eat.
12 KA - p12-13 - 6 November.indd 1
29/10/2021 14:46
Climate change is already impacting people’s lives all over the world. While it affects everyone, it is the world’s poorest and most vulnerable who will experience the impacts most severely.
Throughout 2021 we’ve been sharing stories about how The Salvation Army is working with farmers in places such as Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso to adapt to the challenges of climate change and improve their harvests. Farmers have learnt about when and how to plant seeds to make the most of the rainy season, how to use techniques such as ‘mulching’ and make natural, liquid fertiliser to improve their soil and crops. On pages 7 to 10, you can read Akatendeka’s story and see how the training she attended at The Salvation Army made a difference in her life.
For more info about how you can raise money for Feeding Hope and support The Salvation Army’s work with farmers in Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso go to: salvationarmy.org.uk/international-development/campaigns/feeding-hope.
We love hearing from our readers, so why not drop us a line to tell us what you’ve been up to? Maybe you’ve planted some seeds or participated in a Feeding Hope Messy Church. We’d also love to hear about what you’re going to do to tackle climate change. Check out some of the ideas below and send your info and pictures to kidsalive@salvationarmy.org.uk.
What Can We Do About Climate Change? Climate change is a result of human actions, such as burning fossil fuels (coal and oil, for example) or changing the way we use land (things like chopping down trees to make room for raising cows for beef). If we use fewer fossil fuels and more renewable sources of energy, such as solar or wind power, then carbon emissions would be reduced. Some simple things we can do in our everyday lives to cut down our own carbon footprint include...
Walking or riding your bike instead of travelling in the car
Looking after your things (clothes, toys etc) so they last longer
When you’re finished with clothes or toys, giving them to someone else rather than throwing them away Recycling things, including plastic bottles, cans and paper
Buying things second-hand rather than new
Eating less meat
These might seem like small things, but if everyone who reads these pages does something, we’ll be helping to make a big difference. Together we can do this!
