When a bored Maya and Willi burst out of winter lockdown early, they are catapulted into a top-secret mission! Entrusted with the care of the golden orb (an egg!), Maya and Willi team up with their old pals, soldier ants Arnie and Barnie, to deliver the orb to its new home on Bonsai Mountain. Their adventure soon throws up more than they bargained for, as they take on bounty hunters, bullies and ruthless enemies to safely deliver the orb to its mountain home. When the orb hatches, Maya and Willi come face to face with their biggest challenge yet – caring for a cute and cuddly ant princess who they name Smoosh. Just when they think their mission is complete, Maya and Willi discover one more threat – Smoosh’s colony is about to be attacked by the ants’ age-old enemies, beetles! As their adventure comes to its close, Willi finds a side of himself that he never knew existed – he becomes protective of the tiny princess. Maya learns that trust is more than just a word – it’s something that has to be earned. And together they discover that teamwork and friendship are the best ways to overcome their problems and beat their enemies.

‘Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb’, from Kaleidoscope Entertainment, is in cinemas from 17 May. For more info visit mayathebeefilm.co.uk.
Maya and Willi, the main characters in Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb, are best friends forever. Unfortunately, their friendship sometimes leads them into mischief, which is why the queen bee decides to split them up. That’s when Maya and Willi set out to do something special and prove their friendship really is worthwhile. I’m sure you have a bestie, or a group of friends, who you love having fun with and who gives you a lift when you’re feeling down. But even best friends can get you into a spot of bother or let you down at times. One friend who’ll never lead you into mischief or let you down is Jesus. He’ll help you to stay safe and stick with you in every situation. Even when you feel you have no one else to turn to, Jesus will be there for you. He really is your best friend forever!

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT HOW GOD IS WORKING THROUGH HIS PEOPLE WHILE WE WAIT FOR JESUS TO RETURN
Worth the Wait
says Justin Reeves
I
s there something you’re really looking forward to? I’m really excited that I might get to see members of my family soon! Even though we haven’t been able to get together for ages, we’ve kept in touch with each other using text, email, letters, cards and, of course, Zoom! It’s felt like a very long wait. This week’s cartoon Bible story is set during a very exciting time for Jesus’ followers. Jesus was getting ready to go back to Heaven and used this time to help his closest followers understand exactly who he was and explain what was going to happen in the days to come. He didn’t reveal all the details of what would happen, he just said that they should wait for the
special gift God had promised them. As if that wasn’t enough excitement and suspense, Jesus went back up to Heaven, and a couple of fellas appeared and told the apostles that Jesus would come back again … one day! Later the Bible tells us that Jesus’ followers returned to Jerusalem and prayed while they were waiting. I’m excited to know that Jesus will come back one day. God hasn’t forgotten about us and continues to work through his people. We can keep in touch with Jesus by talking to him through prayer and get ready for his return by reading the Bible and learning to live his way. Sure, it’s been a long wait, but it’ll be worth it!
The Only Way Is Up! Starting at the bottom row, use the letters from the row below to make a new word in each row until you arrive at the top of the upside down triangle with a six-letter word that’s linked to this week’s Bible story.
Clues 1 First letter of the alphabet. 2 Word used in comparisons. For example, to run _ _ fast _ _ you can. 3 Unhappy. 4 Found on the beach. 5 Senior members of staff at universities or people in charge of churches. 6 To go up.

Praying with Jesus
with KA! JAM Co-ordinator Ibukun Baku
NOW YOU PRAY
Prayers are special because they’re an opportunity to share everything that’s on our minds with Jesus. Prayers have the power to change how we feel by filling us with hope and courage. In the Bible there are loads of examples of prayer changing people’s situations. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul encourages believers to always pray. Using stories from the Bible when Jesus prayed, we want to encourage you to pray too.
Use the space to write a prayer. You can pray for people who are ill and ask that they will be healed. You can also thank God for times when you’ve been unwell but have got better.
Acts 5:12–16
The apostles performed many miracles and gathered regularly to preach and worship. Even though some people weren’t convinced by them, many more believed in Jesus and joined the apostles. People brought those who were sick on to the streets in the hope that Peter’s shadow would fall on them and make them better. Crowds from neighbouring towns took anyone who was ill or tormented with unclean spirits and the apostles healed them.

Play-Doh was invented by accident! In the 1930s American soap-maker Noah McVicker was experimenting with flour, water, salt, boric acid and mineral oil. He created a putty-like product, which he first sold as a wallpaper cleaner. Teachers discovered it could also be used in arts and crafts for modelling things, and in the 1950s it became a popular toy. Play-Doh was first introduced to Britain, France and Italy in 1965 and is now sold worldwide!

Bee Fact File To celebrate the release of Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb this month, we thought we would give you some fun facts about our little friends...
Perfect Pollinators
Bees are very important because they help to pollinate crops and flowers. Pollination allows plants to grow fruit and seeds. When a bee lands on a plant, pollen sticks to its legs or body. It then flies to the next plant and transfers the pollen to it.
Honey Hoard
Your Majesty!
Honey bees fly at a speed of about 25km per hour and beat their wings 200 times per second!
The queen bee runs the hive and lays all the eggs in the colony. She can lay up to 2,500 eggs a day.
I Spy
Girl Power
Female bees are workers – they collect nectar, look after the hive and feed baby bees (larvae). Male bees (drones) never leave the hive and don’t have a stinger.
A bee has five eyes! The two large ones on either side of its head help identify plants and bees. The three small ones on top of its head help spot any predators zooming in from above.
Brilliant Boogie
Do Your Bit!
Encourage bees by planting flowers rich in nectar, make a bee house in your garden for solitary bees or buy local honey to support beekeepers.
Knuckles KA - p11 - 8 May.indd 1
There are about 270 species of bee in the UK. Most of them are solitary bees that live on their own and make nests in the ground, old beetle holes, holes in bramble stems or empty snail shells!
Fab Flyers
Honey bees live in colonies or hives of up to 50,000 bees! They collect nectar from flowers to make honey, which they store for food in winter.
Bees ‘dance’ to show each other where food can be found. When a worker returns to the hive, it moves in a figure-of-eight and wiggles its body to point out the direction of the food.
Home Sweet Home
The Bees’ Knees
It’s World Bee Day on 20 May to help raise awareness about the importance of bees and encourage people to protect bee populations.

What is a Vegetarian? A vegetarian is someone who doesn’t eat meat or fish. This is slightly different to vegans, who in addition to not eating any meat or fish, also don’t eat any products that come from animals, such as eggs, dairy or honey.
So a vegetarian person’s diet includes foods such as fruit and vegetables, grains and pulses, nuts and seeds, eggs, and dairy products. In recent years, more people have become vegetarian, which means that there are a lot more meat alternatives in supermarkets, vegetarian cookbooks and and there are more options when eating out.
Why Go Veggie? people choose to become vegetarian. There are lots of different reasons why t to eat meat because Some people just decide they don’t wan ’t want animals to be they don’t like the taste of it. Others don r way to live. killed and some believe it’s a healthie Recently, more people have decided to go vegetarian because they believe eating meat has a big impact on the planet. Producing meat for humans to eat uses lots of energy and land, as well as producing a lot of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. For example, cows need a lot of food and water – keeping them healthy, warm and fed uses a lot of energy, time and resources.
