With the theme of Children’s Mental Health Week being Express Yourself, I’ve been trying to work out how I express myself. I guess we can learn something about the way we express ourselves from the way others see us. I think my friends and family see me as a fun-loving, friendly giant, who likes helping people, loves Plymouth Argyle, enjoys playing music and singing, and has a passion for telling kids about Jesus. For me, the most important form of expression is to communicate with Jesus. Whether that’s talking to him quietly, shouting out to him and asking ‘WHY?’, singing, hitting some drums or reading my Bible, I have to spend time with Jesus as often as possible. Whatever you do to express yourself this week, I recommend spending some time with Jesus and getting your feelings out to him. I know it helps me – I’m sure it’ll help you too.

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT BEING THANKFUL AS YOU SHARE YOUR WORRIES WITH JESUS
Turn Your Worries Into Prayers
I
wonder what kind of things you worry about. When I was a kid, I mostly worried about school, things I didn’t want to do (such as going to school), whether people liked me or not and how my football team was doing. People worry about all sorts of things. For example, our cartoonist – Steve English – was worried about drawing the 12 frames of the Bible cartoon on the opposite page. Then he started to worry that it wasn’t going the way he’d hoped. Eventually, as you can see, he remembered to talk to God about his worries and say thanks to him for the good things in his life. That’s when something really cool happened. He started to feel a bit more chilled – he felt God’s
Wordsearch Find the underlined words from Philippians 4:4–7 (New International Version) in the grid.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
says Justin Reeves
peace. Then he remembered that as well as sharing his worries with Jesus, he should keep Jesus at the centre of everything he does by focusing on things that are good. I still worry about stuff and I don’t fully understand prayer. One thing I do understand is that when I’m worried and I speak to Jesus about it, not only do I simply feel more chilled, but things actually get better too. It’s virtually impossible to be happy all the time and everybody worries. But by doing our best to live Jesus’ way and fill our lives with good things, it is possible to worry less. If you are worried about anything, make sure you speak to Jesus about it. I promise it will help.

Praying with Jesus Prayers are special because they’re an opportunity to share everything that’s on our minds with Jesus. Prayers have the power to change how we feel by filling us with hope and courage. In the Bible there are loads of examples of prayer changing people’s situations. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul encourages believers to always pray. Using stories of Jesus from the Bible, we want to encourage you to pray too.
with KA! JAM Co-ordinator Ibukun Baku
NOW YOU PRAY
Use the space to write a prayer. You can thank God for your day, share any concerns or pray for courage to keep sharing the good news of Jesus.
Mark 6:1–13 Jesus returned to Nazareth (his hometown) and taught in the synagogue. Many people were amazed by what he said, but others refused to listen. They couldn’t believe the young boy they had once known was now so wise. Jesus then sent his disciples out to share the good news and told them, ‘If any town rejects you, leave with your head held high and find others to share with instead.’ If you’re a KA! JAM member, check out your KAPAC 11 to read the full story or sign up below to start your KA! JAM journey

The temperature of the Earth’s inner core is believed to be hotter than the surface of the sun! The sun’s surface temperature is approximately 5,500ºC, while scientists think that the inner core of our planet could be as hot as 6,000ºC. The inner core is a huge metal ball about 1,553 miles wide and is made up of mostly iron. Iron melts at 1,593ºC but even at a scorching 6,000ºC the core stays solid because of the huge pressure surrounding it.

f you feel like you need to escape from your world into a world of mythical Norse gods, then we’ve got a book to give away this week that will tick all the boxes. How to Be a Hero is a fantasy adventure book about friendship and bravery. When trainee Valkyrie Lotta mistakes an unconscious Viking thief, Whetstone, for a fallen hero and takes him triumphantly to Valhalla, things are definitely not turning out to be epic or glorious. Having lost a precious talking cup, Whetstone is also desperate to cover up his mistake and the two embark on a quarrelsome journey to find it and regain their heroic status. However, Loki the trickster god, is desperate to get his hands on the cup with a plan to unleash chaos across the nine worlds. Can Whetstone prove himself a hero after all when it matters most? For your opportunity to win a copy of How to Be a Hero, answer the question below and email your full name, age, address and answer to kidsalive@salvationarmy.org.uk to reach us by Friday 26 February when the winners will be chosen – remember to put ‘How to Be a Hero Competition’ in the subject box. If you’ve read about Children’s Mental Health Week on page 3 you’ll know that being creative is a great way to improve mental well-being. Another good way to look after our mental health is sharing your feelings or worries by praying. Write something that you’d like to pray about in each of the circles below, then while you talk to God colour in the rest of the picture. Just grab some pens, pencils and paints or stick some stuff on to make a collage. Then email your colourings to: kidsalive@salvationarmy.org.uk – make sure you write ‘Pause and Pray Colouring’ in the subject box and give us your full name, age and address. Alternatively you can post your colourings to: Your Space, Kids Alive! 101 Newington Causeway, London SE1 6BN. One last reminder! If you’re sending by post remember to fill in your details on the left so we know who you are.
