What do you want to be when you grow up? Dom – a character in Space Jam: A New Legacy – wants to be a computer game designer, but his dad wants him to be a basketball player like he was. That causes an argument that leads them into an amazing adventure. I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. When I was very young, I’d tell people I wanted to be a dustman. In my late teens I went to art college, which led to me working for a newspaper and, eventually, I ended up at Kids Alive! When you’re a Christian you never really ‘end up’ anywhere. As long as you talk to Jesus about everything that’s going on in your life, he helps you to find just the right place for you. Talk to him and trust him – it could lead to an amazing adventure!

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT DOING YOUR BEST FOR GOD AND OTHERS WHEREVER YOU ARE

Right Place, Right Time says Steve English

J

ust last week I saw a boy wearing a T-shirt that read ‘I PAUSED MY GAME TO BE HERE’. It made me smile, but I wonder if he chose to wear it to make the point that he really didn’t want to be where he was that day. In Bible times people also communicated through their clothes. Mordecai wore rags and covered himself in ashes to show that he was not happy. By doing so he managed to get the attention of Queen Esther and get a message to her. Part of Esther’s role at the palace was to look beautiful and wear fancy clothes, but I’m pretty sure she didn’t want to be where she was that day – a little like the boy with the T-shirt who I mentioned before. Even though Esther was the king’s wife, he

had the power to kill her if he wasn’t pleased. She had to get a message to the king that would save her people, but she also knew that doing so was very risky. Unfortunately, we can’t always be where we want to be and do what we want to do. At times like these, rather than wishing to be back home playing computer games or doing something else that’s fun, ask God if there’s a reason why you are where you are. Mordecai reminded Esther that she was at the palace for a reason and, eventually, she was able to save the Jews. You might not be in a position to save the lives of many people, but there’s bound to be someone you can help by being kind to and showing them the love of God.

TAKE IT ON! Doing 140 things might seem like a big challenge, but as the challenge runs throughout the summer, there will be plenty of time to reach your goal. You don’t even have to do a challenge alone – fundraisers can take on a group challenge by teaming up with family members or friends at church or school. You can even do things in multiples of 14 if that’s easier – as long as you’re having fun and raising whatever money you can.

LET’S GET SPORTY This week’s theme is doing something sporty or active. So here are some creative ways to take part in the 140 Challenge.
