I’ve only ridden a horse once and that was a gentle walk through the countryside. Just after I mounted the horse it gave me a real fright. I thought it was trying to tip me off, but it was just bowing its head to get some food! Even though I felt rather wibbly-wobbly, it was OK once I got used to it. I was never in danger as there was a handler guiding the horse using a leader rein. All I had to do was trust the handler and enjoy the ride. Sometimes life brings its wibbles and wobbles and things can be scary when we feel like we have no control. The good news is we have Jesus to lead us in the right direction. That doesn’t mean that life’s always going to be an enjoyable ride, but Jesus will always keep us safe – we just have to trust him.

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT THE EXCITEMENT OF MEETING JESUS AND DECIDING TO LIVE HIS WAY
Don’t Be Disappointed
T
here’s an old saying that goes ‘never meet your heroes’ – the idea being that you’ll only be disappointed if you do. I’m not someone who gets excited by celebrities – they’re just people. Whenever I’ve met or seen someone famous I’ve rarely been that fussed. However, there are two occasions when I totally lost my cool because I saw one of my footballing heroes, Micky ‘Trigger’ Evans. On both occasions I was on the phone to my dad, pointed straight at Micky and shouted at the top of my voice, ‘DAD, IT’S TRIGGER!’ Everyone within earshot (which was quite a distance!) turned to stare at me – including Micky Evans who smiled and gave me a little wave. I wasn’t disappointed, but I did feel a bit silly.
says Justin Reeves
It must have been so exciting for the children in this week’s cartoon Bible story to see and meet Jesus. I’m sure none of them were disappointed either. After all, he didn’t just give them a little wave, he welcomed them with open arms and told everyone in earshot just how special they were to him. Another time I really lost my cool was when I met Jesus for the first time. What I really mean is the time when I decided to follow him and to truly do my best to live life his way. There are lots of people you can look up to and even try to be like, but there’s only one who will never disappoint you. Why not make a decision to be Jesus’ friend and do your best to be like him? You won’t be disappointed!

Living Like Jesus – Loving Your Neighbour Written by KA! JAM Co-ordinator Ibukun Baku – illustrated by Steve English
Did you know that the most important commandments in the Bible are to love God and to love your neighbour? Jesus was great at doing this, so let’s follow his example by loving God and our neighbours too.
A Woman Anoints Jesus’ Feet
Simon, a Pharisee (religious leader), invited Jesus to dinner and a lady who had lived a sinful life heard about it. She went to Simon’s house with an expensive jar of perfume and cried at Jesus’ feet. She dried the tears with her hair, kissed his feet and poured the precious perfume over them. Watching her, Simon thought, ‘If Jesus really is a prophet, he’d know the woman touching him is a sinner.’
Living Like Jesus
Simon, who thought being a religious leader made him perfect, didn’t honour Jesus as a special guest, but the woman did. Jesus knew the woman was sorry for her mistakes and her actions showed him how thankful she was that her sins were forgiven.
Loving Your Neighbour
Is there someone who you secretly think you’re better than? Maybe you get higher grades than them at school or your parents rarely tell you off. Instead of judging them, why not see if they would like some help to do better themselves?
KA! JAM is the cooles t Bible activity club around. As a member you’ll go on amazing adventures through th e Bible learning about Jesus. Here are some gobsmacking facts about practically everything, to boggle your brain or wow your mates… Queen Elizabeth’s cows sleep on waterbeds! An episode of the BBC’s Countryfile in 2018 revealed that 165 dairy cows on the Queen’s farm at Windsor Great Park sleep on big water pillows. The cows also like to relax on them during the day. The waterbeds help ease pressure points on the cows’ bodies when they lie down. Now that’s what we call royal treatment!

26 Challenges Sisters Eloise and Esmé took on 26 mini challenges as part of the 2.6 Challenge to raise money for The Salvation Army’s work with homeless people. Over the course of 26 days, the girls completed various challenges, including reading 26 books and doing 26 cartwheels. They completely smashed their target of £50 and raised an incredible £736! On day 23 the sisters were very busy helping to make brownies and cupcakes. Their scrumptious treats were made for the residents and carers at Barony Lodge Residential Care Home, and they put a smile on everyone’s faces. The girls also painted 26 gorgeous pictures, half of which were dropped off at Barony Lodge, while the other half were delivered to Richmond Villages Nantwich. Another of the challenges came about because the girls were missing their ballet classes. Eloise did 260 plié jumps and Esmé did 26 ballet jumps! Great work, girls! If you’d like to know more about what Eloise and Esmé got up to check out justgiving.com/fundraising/eloise-and-esme-26-challenge.
The 2.6 Challenge is a fundraising effort for charities, hopefully to help them raise the money that they’ve lost because of larger events being cancelled. If you’ve been inspired by Eloise and Esmé and want to fundraise for The Salvation Army too, visit salvationarmy.org.uk/challenge-events.
