ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Improve Your English, Build Your Confidence
Our ESOL courses are designed for adults whose first language is not English. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to improve your existing skills, we offer courses from Pre-Entry to Level 2 to help you progress.
You’ll develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a supportive learning environment, helping you feel more confident in everyday life, work and further study.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
At Salford City College, we believe finances should never be a barrier to education. Many of our courses are free for eligible students, and if you’re not eligible for full funding, you may be able to access an Advanced Learner Loan. We also offer a range of financial support to help with the costs of studying.
19+ Bursary
Students aged 19+ studying 12 hours or more per week with a household income below £30,000 may be eligible for weekly bursary payments of up to £15, subject to attendance and engagement.
Childcare Funding
Eligible full-time students aged 19+ with a household income below £30,000 may receive support towards childcare costs while studying.
Advanced Learner Loans
Students aged 19+ studying eligible Level 3 qualifications may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees. Repayments are income-based and only begin once you earn above the repayment threshold.
Advanced Learner Loan Bursary
Students who have taken out an Advanced Learner Loan may also be eligible for additional financial support of up to £60 per week, depending on household income and attendance.
