About Our Organization
Tree for Mercy Foundation (TFMF) is a Sri Lankan-based non-profit organization focused on community-driven tree planting initiatives. The foundation's core objective is to combat deforestation, restore green cover, and improve the environmentforpresentandfuturegenerations
Since its inception, TFMF has planted over 100,000 trees in 14 districts across the country, working with local communities, schools, religious organizations, and corporate partners. We aim to create sustainable livelihoods, restore ecosystems, andbuildawarenessabouttheimportanceoftreesinsustaininglifeonearth.
KeyPrograms:
Fruit Trees for Home Gardens: Providing fruit-bearing trees such as mango, coconut,jackfruit,andcashewtofamiliestoenhancefoodsecurityandincome.
Shade Trees for Public Spaces: Planting mature trees in urban areas and public spacestocombatheat,improveairquality,andbeautifycities. Our participatory model ensures that every project is community-led, with local volunteersandinstitutionstakinganactiveroleintreeplantingandmaintenance.

Our Approach to Environmental Restoration and Community Empowerment
TreePlantingPrograms
We focus on large scale, community led tree planting efforts that aim to restore the green cover ofSriLankaandcombattheenvironmentalchallengeslistedabove.Keyprogramsinclude:
Fruit Trees for Home Gardens: By providing fruit trees such as coconut, mango, jackfruit, and cashew, we help families achieve food security and income generation. This also reduces dependenceoncommercialagriculture.
Shade Trees for Public Spaces: Planting trees in urban areas, roadsides, and public spaces helpscooldowncities,reduceairpollution,andimprovetheoverallqualityoflife.
CommunityInvolvement
Our participatory model ensures that every project involves local communities in the planning, planting, and maintenance phases. This ensures the long-term success and sustainability of everytreeplanted.
