A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT DEAR SAINT VIATOR NATION, There’s a special kind of energy on campus these days. The kind of energy that reminds you why this place stays with you long after graduation. As we look back on this school year, I wanted to share a few moments that capture the spirit, heart, and momentum of your alma mater.

A SCHOOL THAT KEEPS RISING

Our students continue to excel in ways that make all of us proud. From National Merit Finalists and Illinois State Scholars to Top 10 finishes in academics and the arts, the bar keeps rising. Students are building apps, pitching business ideas, earning major awards, and stepping confidently into their futures. This year also marked the launch of several exciting initiatives, including our new Department of College & Future Planning, a CNA program that filled two classes to capacity, international travel opportunities sending 20 students to London and 20 to Japan, our inaugural Day of Service and Happiness Day, and a Summer Internship Program connecting 45 students with alumni and professional mentors. Together, these opportunities reflect our commitment to helping every Lion discover their purpose and prepare for life beyond Saint Viator.

ALUMNI COMING HOME

One of the most meaningful trends this year has been the number of alumni returning to serve. Maura Dussman ’09 Haddad joined us as school nurse. Nick Sobieszczyk ’05 stepped into leadership as Assistant Athletic Director and Girls Flag Football Head Coach. Plus, young alumni returned to present on our college panel, offering honest advice to students as they consider the next steps in their academic journey. The strong presence of our alumni reminds us that Saint Viator isn’t just a school, it’s a lifelong community.

A YEAR OF ATHLETIC PRIDE

Athletics brought home historic achievements across multiple seasons. Girls Basketball, Boys Golf, and Girls Cross Country all placed at State. Wrestling crowned a State Champion and Hockey captured its first-ever AHAI State Championship. We launched Girls Flag Football with tremendous enthusiasm. Seven seniors committed to college athletics at Winter and Spring Signing Days. The pride on campus was unmistakable.

A COMMUNITY THAT SHOWS UP

From a record-breaking Night of the Lion to a packed Mahoney Golf Classic, this community continues to show up for one another. We celebrated the Feast Day of St. Viator with our inaugural Day of Service, welcomed Cardinal Blase Cupich for our annual Catholic Schools Week Mass, and honored longtime faculty who shaped generations of Lions. Special Olympics returned to campus, and the Class of 1975 celebrated its 50th reunion; a beautiful reminder of the ties that last.

We also continued important work on The Backyard Project, collaborating closely with the Village of Arlington Heights to bring to life our vision of a new on-campus athletic complex. It’s a long-awaited step forward and one rooted in the same pride and possibility that shaped your own years here. Enrollment continues to grow, interest is strong, and the future feels bright. Through every moment this year, one thing was clear: Saint Viator remains a place where young people discover who they are, who they want to become, and what it means to lead with heart. And that legacy, the one they’re building on, started with you. We hope these highlights bring you a sense of pride and joy, wherever life has taken you. THE BACKYARD PROJECT:

BUILDING THE FUTURE, HONORING THE LEGACY Saint Viator has always honored its past by investing boldly in its present. Over the last decade, we’ve transformed classrooms, expanded innovation and the arts, and strengthened the spaces where faith and fellowship thrive. Now, we are taking the next essential step: building athletic facilities that match the excellence our students deserve and that future Lions will rely on for generations.

A HOME FOR EVERY LION

With 80% of students participating in athletics, these facilities are not extras. They are central to the Saint Viator experience – past, present, and future. The Backyard Project brings football, soccer, and lacrosse fields, tennis courts, and an eight-lane track home to campus. These additions will deepen school spirit, strengthen community, and create formative moments students will carry with them long after graduation. These spaces will also welcome Catholic elementary and middle schools across the region, inspiring future Lions and reinforcing Saint Viator’s role as a hub of Catholic education.

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL: A TRUE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE

Every Lion deserves a true home field. That’s why the Backyard Project also includes best-inclass baseball and softball venues. Plans feature regulation diamonds, high-quality playing surfaces, dugouts and bullpens, multiple batting cages, enhanced lighting, a scoreboard and PA system, and seating for families and fans. Because campus space is limited, we will partner with a nearby site to deliver specialized, safe, well-managed fields that provide a true homegame experience. Two potential sites have been identified, and we are currently in due diligence with both. Once a contract is signed, we will share the news. This investment ensures every current and future Lion has the environment they need to train, compete, and thrive.

WHERE THE PROJECT STANDS TODAY

Our formal application was submitted to the Village of Arlington Heights in January, and since then we’ve been in active, productive collaboration with the Village’s Department of Planning & Community Development. The application continues to advance, with a public hearing expected in late July 2026 or August. Designs are finalized. Fundraising will soon begin. Momentum is strong. 20TH ANNUAL NIGHT OF THE LION A SMASHING SUCCESS

The energy was electric at the 20th annual Night of the Lion fundraiser on Saturday, April 18. The 465 guests raised their paddles early and often in support of the Viator Foundation, helping raise a record $1.35 million with an emphasis on tuition assistance and making a Catholic education accessible. The emcee for the evening, Head Football Coach Robbie Gould, noticed the excitement right at the outset. “I love the energy tonight. This is great, it’s fantastic,” Coach Gould said. “Tonight is our largest fundraiser. This event has the unique ability to bring people together who are invested in our school, not only today but tomorrow as well.” In fact, the crowd was a mix of incoming, current, and alumni parents as well as alumni of all ages joining members of the Clerics of St. Viator and Saint Viator administrators, faculty, and staff. Saint Viator President Ryan Aiello welcomed the crowd, as he described many of this year’s accomplishments, including its historic year in athletics, as well as its environmental commitment by installing solar panels and a strong incoming freshman class. “We as a community are committed to raising the bar of everything we do at Saint Viator,” Aiello said.

The evening included presenting the Saint Viator Legacy Award to Michael ’95 and Melissa Canning, recognizing their commitment to Saint Viator High School. In addition to generously supporting the school financially, Melissa has served on the NOL committee for two years.

In receiving the award, Michael credited his father, John Canning, with instilling in him and his siblings a commitment to Catholic education. “He has a passion for Catholic education and seeing what it can do for society,” Michael said. “Like my father, Melissa and I believe every student should have the chance for a Catholic education. Tuition assistance should not be a barrier.” He also reflected on his education at Saint Viator, saying he appreciated it even more as an adult. “Looking back, Saint Viator did a terrific job in preparing me not just for college, but for life,” Canning said, whose son, Mikey, is a rising sophomore. The evening also included the presentation of the first Spirit of Saint Viator Award to the school’s Building and Grounds team, Martin Castaneda, Salomon Marcial, and Gregory Smith. Guests in the audience cheered loudly as they were introduced and stood for a heartfelt ovation.

In describing the team’s combined 90year commitment to the school, Director of Building and Grounds Mark Rychlik said, “All of us who work at Saint Viator, and all the students, owe you a debt of gratitude. The building is always safe, clean, dry, warm, and now cool each and every day.” In accepting the award, Smith said he and his teammates were humbled. “I’ve been here for 37 years, and I never thought I’d be up here accepting an award,” said Smith. “With my teammates and my boss, we’re very, very blessed to be here at Saint Viator.” Several of past honorees were on hand to celebrate the evening, including former Dean of Men Patrick Mahoney, Fr. Charlie Bolser, C.S.V., Jim Bristol ’73, Nick ’97 and Katie Papanicholas, and Matt ’84 and Christine Boler. Bristol spoke for his fellow honorees when he said that none of them expected to receive an award when dedicating themselves to the students of Saint Viator. “But it is a great opportunity to recognize people and thank them for what they do,” he said. Matt Boler said simply, “It’s a fantastic night. People are excited to support the school. It’s an event that really drives the community at Saint Viator.”

COMING HOME FALL 2025 ALUMNI EVENTS RECAP

Throughout the year, alumni from across the country returned to Saint Viator to celebrate milestones, reconnect with classmates, honor cherished traditions, and support future generations of Lions. Whether gathering for a reunion, remembering loved ones at the Alumni Memorial Mass, or simply enjoying time together, these moments remind us that the Saint Viator experience extends far beyond graduation—and that Lions truly are Lions for Life.

HOMECOMING

Hundreds of alumni, families, students, and friends returned to campus on September 19 for a memorable Homecoming celebration filled with old and new traditions. The day featured campus tours, alumni gatherings, a pep assembly, Friday night football, the popular Alumni Tent, and postgame festivities with classmates and friends.

PAT MAHONEY GOLF CLASSIC

The Mahoney Classic welcomed a record 144 alumni and guests from more than 60 class years. Held at Old Orchard Country Club on October 3, the sold-out event celebrated legendary dean and coach Pat Mahoney while raising support for Saint Viator’s Legacy Scholarship Program, which assists second- and third-generation Lions. Funds raised helped provide $500 scholarships to each of the 45 legacy students enrolled during the 2025–26 school year.

CLASSES OF 1975 50TH REUNION

More than 100 alumni from the Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary Classes of 1975 returned to campus on October 4 to celebrate their 50th Reunion. Representing 23 states, classmates gathered for a weekend of friendship, reflection, and shared memories. Activities included campus tours, a reunion Mass celebrated by Fr. Richard Rinn, C.S.V. ‘66, dinner, music, and opportunities to reconnect with former classmates and faculty.

ALUMNI MEMORIAL MASS

Nearly 200 alumni, family members, and friends gathered in the Alumni Memorial Chapel on November 2 for the annual Alumni Memorial Mass. The cherished tradition provides an opportunity for the Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary communities to remember alumni who have passed away and to celebrate their lives through prayer and remembrance. During the liturgy, recently deceased alumni were honored, and their names were added to the Alumni Memorial Wall.

ALL-INCLUSIVE ALUMNI REUNION

More than 200 alumni returned to campus in November for reunion celebrations honoring the Classes of 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020. The weekend offered opportunities to reconnect with classmates, revisit favorite campus memories, and celebrate the lifelong friendships formed at Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary.

TURKEY BOWL

The Second Annual Turkey Bowl welcomed recent grads from the Classes of 2022–2025 back to campus for an afternoon of friendly competition. Despite blustery winds and chilly temperatures, alumni returned to reconnect with classmates and celebrate the Thanksgiving season together. The event continues to grow as a favorite tradition among young alumni and serves as another reminder that Lion pride extends well beyond graduation.

A NIGHT TO HONOR ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE:

2026 ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

On Saturday, February 28, Saint Viator High School welcomed alumni, families, and friends back to Cahill Gym to celebrate the 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The evening honored a distinguished group of former student-athletes, coaches, and teams whose excellence, leadership, and sportsmanship have left a lasting legacy in Lion athletics. This year’s individual inductees included Coach Chris Kirkpatrick, Kelly Hendricks ’09, Kevin Walsh ’12, and Cole Kmet ’17. The 2017 Illinois State Champion Baseball Team was also inducted, recognizing one of the most memorable championship seasons in school history. Additional honors were presented during the evening. Matt Hynek ’92 received the Robert C. Artman Award – Sportsperson of the Year, while Coach Rodero Warren was recognized with the Patrick Mahoney Dedication to Coaching Award.

INAUGURAL TOAST OF THE TOWN CELEBRATES FINE ARTS AND HONORS TONY CALZARETTA More than 130 alumni, past parents, family members, and friends gathered on Saturday, April 25, for the inaugural Toast of the Town, an evening celebrating the fine arts at Saint Viator and honoring longtime theater volunteer and assistant director Tony Calzaretta. The event recognized Calzaretta’s decades of service to the Saint Viator theater program. During the evening, the Patrons of the Arts presented him with their first-ever “Tony Award,” honoring the lasting impact he has made on generations of students and families through his dedication, mentorship, and love of theater. Calzaretta joined the Saint Viator theater program in 2005, beginning what would become nearly two decades of service alongside longtime director Kate Schafer SHM ’70 Costello. Known for his humility, attention to detail, and genuine care for students, he became a beloved presence both on and offstage, helping shape countless productions and fostering a welcoming environment for young performers. Thanks to the generosity of attendees and supporters, the inaugural event raised approximately $6,000 to benefit Saint Viator’s Fine Arts Program. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the evening such a success and look forward to continuing this new tradition in support of the arts at Saint Viator.

MORE THAN AN INTERNSHIP

BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LIONS

When people reflect on the moments that shaped their careers, they rarely begin with a textbook. Instead, they remember the person who believed in them. A manager who took the time to explain not just what to do, but why it mattered. A mentor who answered questions over coffee. A professional who opened a door, made an introduction, or simply said, “You can do this.” Those moments have the power to change a life. This summer, Saint Viator High School took an exciting step toward creating more of those moments by launching its first comprehensive work-based learning Internship Program. Forty-five students are spending their summer interning with alumni and community partners across a wide range of industries, gaining firsthand experience in business, healthcare, engineering, education, law, marketing, finance, technology, nonprofit leadership, and more. Before stepping into the workplace, every student completed two weeks of career readiness training designed to set them up for success. They developed resumes and LinkedIn profiles, practiced professional communication, participated in mock interviews, and learned workplace expectations and etiquette. By the time they arrived on their first day, they were prepared to contribute, learn, and represent Saint Viator with confidence. While these internships provide valuable professional experience, the true impact goes far beyond a résumé. Students are learning what it means to be part of a team. They are developing confidence, asking questions, solving real-world problems, and discovering career paths they may never have considered. Most importantly, they are seeing themselves as future professionals because someone took the time to invest in them.

That investment is made possible by our alumni and mentor partners. Each mentor who welcomes a Saint Viator student into their workplace is helping bridge the gap between education and opportunity. They are providing experiences that simply cannot be replicated inside a classroom while demonstrating the values that define our community: leadership, service, integrity, and generosity. This program is also strengthening something uniquely Viatorian. It reminds students that becoming a Lion doesn’t end at graduation. It creates meaningful connections between generations of alumni and students who share the same traditions, values, and pride. Today’s students become tomorrow’s mentors, continuing a cycle of support that strengthens our entire community. The internship program is only the beginning. Throughout the coming year, Saint Viator will continue expanding opportunities for alumni to engage with students through our Career Speaker Series, networking events, job shadow experiences, and future internships. Whether you can host an intern for several weeks, speak to students for an hour, or offer career advice along the way, your experience can make an extraordinary difference.

Simply put, this program succeeds because of alumni and community leaders who are willing to say “yes.” Every conversation. Every opportunity. Every word of encouragement has the potential to influence a young person’s future in ways none of us may ever fully know.

60 YEARS STRONG

CLASS OF 1966 RETURNS TO CAMPUS FOR 60TH REUNION Saint Viator proudly welcomed members of the Class of 1966 back to campus on Saturday, May 2, for their 60th Reunion celebration.

Thirty-nine classmates and guests gathered to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate six decades of friendship and Lion pride. The afternoon began with campus tours, giving alumni the opportunity to see how Saint Viator has grown while reflecting on memories from their student days. Reunion attendees then gathered for Mass, offering prayers of thanksgiving for their classmates, families, and the many blessings they have experienced since graduation. The evening continued with cocktails, appetizers, and a formal dinner program filled with laughter, storytelling, and shared memories. Throughout the event, classmates enjoyed renewing friendships and reconnecting with fellow Lions more than 60 years after their time at Saint Viator.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of Saint Viator’s alumni awards. David Harris and Larry Forsberg were honored with the Lion Pride Award in recognition of their exemplary dedication, involvement, and service to Saint Viator since graduation. Bill Demmert received the Lion Benefactor Award for his outstanding generosity and steadfast support of the school over the years. One of the most meaningful moments of the reunion was a special presentation honoring members of the Class of 1966 who have passed away. The beautiful tribute gave classmates an opportunity to remember and celebrate the lives of fellow Lions who remain an important part of their shared history.

INAUGURAL DAY OF SERVICE BRINGS VIATORIAN MISSION TO LIFE On the Feast of St. Viator on Tuesday, October 21, Saint Viator students, faculty, and staff participated in the school’s inaugural Day of Service, dedicating an entire day to living out the Viatorian mission through service to others. Students volunteered at organizations throughout Chicagoland, including Bernie’s Book Bank, Little City, Habitat for Humanity, Little Sisters of the Poor, House of Hope Resale, and many others. Additional service projects took place on campus, where students prepared meals for those in need, assembled comfort items for first responders, and worked in the Viatorian Giving Garden. The day reflected Saint Viator’s commitment to forming students who recognize the needs of the world around them and respond with compassion, generosity, and action. Organized through the Office of Mission & Identity and Campus Ministry, the initiative provided meaningful opportunities for students to put their faith into practice while serving their local communities. Several alumni also helped make the day a success. Emily Dillon ’18 (pictured top right), Content Marketing Manager at Bernie’s Book Bank, welcomed Saint Viator students to one of the service sites and supported their efforts sorting and preparing books for children in need. At Little City, students had the opportunity to serve alongside Tony Brescia ’82 (pictured below), creating a special connection between current Lions and alumni united by a shared commitment to service. The success of the inaugural Day of Service established what promises to become a cherished Saint Viator tradition—one that celebrates the legacy of St. Viator while strengthening the school’s culture of faith, service, and community.

CLASS OF 2026 CELEBRATES FAITH, ACHIEVEMENT, AND NEW BEGINNINGS

The Saint Viator High School Class of 2026 concluded its journey as students with two cherished traditions: the annual Baccalaureate Mass and the school’s 63rd Commencement Ceremony.

The graduation festivities began on Thursday, May 21, as seniors gathered with family, friends, faculty, and staff for Baccalaureate Mass. Celebrated by Fr. Jhobany Orduz, C.S.V., the Mass invited graduates to pause in prayer and reflection before Commencement. Drawing from his own experiences, Fr. Jhobany reminded students that while Saint Viator has equipped them with education, talents, and accomplishments, they are called to be something more. “The world doesn’t just need people who can see better,” he said. “It needs people who can shine in darkness.” Salutatorian Francesca Demeter reflected on the friendships, memories, and everyday moments that shaped the Class of 2026 throughout their 1,376 days at Saint Viator. “Everyone has memories of their high school experience,” she said, “but only you have your memories of Saint Viator.”

In his remarks, President Ryan Aiello praised the graduates as “intellectually curious, exceptionally talented, ready to serve, faith-filled, and fully alive in the Viatorian mission.” The Class of 2026 leaves Saint Viator with an impressive list of accomplishments. Collectively, graduates were offered more than $30 million in scholarships and will attend more than 90 colleges and universities across 29 states. Twenty-one students will continue competing at the collegiate level. Valedictorian Emily Walberg encouraged her classmates to embrace the future with faith and perseverance. “A meaningful life isn’t built on having every answer,” she said. “It’s built on the courage to keep going while we search for them.” The ceremony also included the presentation of the Andrew Johnstone Leadership Award to Maggie Drake and the Christopher Erdmann Award to Erin Lynch, as well as recognition of retiring science teacher Gina Horne for her years of dedicated service to Saint Viator students.

Karen Mason SHM ’69 reunited with former Saint Viator co-star Mike McMahon ’72 during her sold-out Skokie Theatre performance of Just in Styne: Karen Sings Jule. The reunion brought together the stars of Saint Viator’s 1969 production of Carousel more than five decades later.

Tim Cavanagh ’80, founding partner of Cavanagh Sorich Law Group, recently helped secure a $104 million jury verdict in Cook County—one of the largest personal injury awards in Illinois history.

Thanks to the leadership and generosity of Jim ’76 and Michelle ’77 Asby Ryan, Saint Viator successfully launched the new President’s Society Scholarship. The scholarship will provide full fouryear tuition assistance for students with demonstrated financial need beginning in 2026–27.

Chris Mahlmann ’83 continues to expand GREATNEWS.LIFE, a positive-news media network serving Northern Indiana. Since launching the concept in 2009, his team has published more than 70,000 stories and one million photographs highlighting community achievements and good news.

CLASS OF 1985 Greg ’75 and Gail Mulcahy SHM ’75 Kay received the President’s Founder Award in recognition of their extraordinary generosity and longtime commitment to Saint Viator. The couple’s connection to the school spans generations, with four alumni children and two grandchildren currently enrolled.

Bill Stanczak ’85 guided Saint Viator’s girls cross country team to a historic fifth-place finish at the IHSA State Finals this fall, the program’s highestever state finish.

Jarrett Payton ’99 returned to campus with WGN Morning News for Saint Viator’s Bear Down Pep Rally in January. The alumnus and television reporter reflected on the impact Saint Viator had on his life while celebrating school spirit and the Chicago Bears’ playoff run with students.

Brian Goss ’91, Chief of Police for the Village of Norridge, returned to campus to work with forensics students. Drawing on his professional experience, he guided students through a mock homicide investigation and crime scene analysis.

Denise Walker ’96 helped guide Saint Viator’s girls basketball team to a fourthplace finish in the IHSA Class 3A State Finals this past season. Serving as an assistant coach, Walker was part of the program’s historic postseason run—the furthest advancement in school history.

Steven Zaleski ’04, Frank Callero ’04, and Erling Wu-Bower ’01 were named semifinalists for the 2026 James Beard Awards. Zaleski and Callero were recognized in the Best Restaurateur category, while WuBower earned a Best Chef, Great Lakes Region nomination.

Months after being drafted by the Seattle Mariners, Casey Hintz ’22 returned to campus this winter to speak with Saint Viator baseball players about leadership, mindset, and his professional baseball journey.

Alexandra Nowakowski ’10 made her Metropolitan Opera debut last fall in La Sonnambula, performing the role of Amina. Joe Giovannetti ’10 continues to build an impressive theater career and recently appeared in White Christmas at the Paramount Theatre. He also earned a BroadwayWorld Chicago Award nomination for his performance in Amélie at the Chopin Theatre.

Colin Cromie ’17 continued his hockey career skating with the Deeside Dragons in North Wales for the 2025–26 season.

GOLD MEDAL INSPIRATION Andrew Zimmerman ’22, Austin Kanyuh ’22, and Patrick Hartman ’22 reunited at their graduation from Villanova University this spring.

CLASS OF 2023

The celebration carried special meaning for the community as alumnus Danny O’Shea ’09 helped Team USA capture the gold medal in the figure skating team event at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. Competing alongside partner Ellie Kam, O’Shea delivered a career-best Olympic performance to help Team USA edge Japan by a single point and secure the championship. The victory marked O’Shea’s first Olympic appearance and fulfilled a dream more than a decade in the making.

Ava Pretto ’18 and Anna Johnston ’18 reunited professionally this past year at Kennedy Elementary School in Schiller Park, where Pretto served as a firstgrade teacher and Johnston as a special education paraprofessional. Peter Lambesis ’18 recently returned to the United States after playing professionally in Greece’s Elite League. The former Saint Viator basketball standout continues to stay involved in the game through youth basketball camps and training programs.

Saint Viator students embraced the excitement of the Winter Olympics this past season through a spirited Homeroom Olympics competition, featuring friendly contests, team pride, and plenty of school spirit.

Emmi Scales ’23 continues to establish herself as one of the nation’s top collegiate hurdlers at the University of Kentucky. During the 2026 season, she won the SEC Indoor Championship in the 60-meter hurdles and recorded the NCAA’s fastest time of the year in the event (7.83). In June, Scales advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships final after posting the second-fastest qualifying time in the women’s 100-meter hurdles semifinal (12.72).

As students competed for homeroom bragging rights on campus, they also celebrated one of their own on the world stage—a reminder that dedication and perseverance can lead all the way to Olympic gold.

Fr. Fitzsimmons served as a theology teacher and counselor at Saint Viator from 1970 to 1988. Described by many as “such a kind man,” he was passionate about listening to and supporting young people and people facing addictions.

Wife of the late John Sattler (RIP 3/13/26), mother of Tim Sattler ‘93 Jeanne Ann taught theology at Sacred Heart of Mary from 1973 to 1975 and Saint Viator from 1986 to 2000. She was a member of the first Kairos leadership team, led students in service projects, and served on Saint Viator’s Board of Trustees.

In 1968, Fr. Lentz was assigned to teach English at Saint Viator High School, where he later became Chair of the English Department (1971-77). He then returned to Saint Viator to serve terms as Assistant Principal, Principal, and President from 1981 to 1986.

Wife of Daniel Tan; mother of Jennifer Tan ‘04 and Michael Tan ‘05. Janet, or Senora Tan, served as a Spanish teacher and department chair from 1998 to 2021. She was dedicated to Kairos retreats and service trips, leaving a lasting impact well beyond the classroom.

A former football coach and member of the SV/SHM Athletic Hall of Fame, Coach Gliwa led the Lions from 1964 to 1970. He inspired excellence on and off the field, guiding his team to capturing the Chicagoland Prep League title in 1969.

Wife of the late Alfred; mother of Michael ‘80, Rosemarie, Elizabeth, and Thomas; grandmother of Amber Holst ‘97. Frau Mayer taught German at Saint Viator from 1985 to 1998 with an impactful cultural immersion style.

Aunt of George (Larry) Seick ‘65. Mary volunteered as a costumer for the school plays at Saint Viator High School for eighteen years. She was honored with a room at Saint Viator named “The Mary Woods Costume Room” in appreciation for all of her work associated with the theater department.
