BACK TO SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOOL
2026-27 BACK TO SCHOOL DIGITAL BOOK
BUILDING FINE YOUNG MEN. ONE BOY AT A TIME.
WELCOME FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL WELCOME TO THE 2026–27 NEW SCHOOL YEAR! I wonder what this year will hold for you. What successes will you achieve, and how might you reflect on them? I wonder where you might face challenges, what you might learn in those difficult moments, and how you might grow. Alongside wondering what learning and adventure await, do you have any space to wonder how you might support the journeys of those around you? Who might need your help when they are clearly struggling? Who could benefit from friendship if they are new? Who might need encouragement when they are nervous or afraid? As the new school year approaches, it is natural and important for you to consider how you might want the year to unfold. Personal goals are important, but at St. George’s School, we pride ourselves on being a community — we benefit from the strength that comes from a vibrant community. Furthermore, a community is made by our actions for others, not for ourselves. So as the school year begins, I challenge us all to not only consider how we might step into the year to ensure personal growth, but also to scan the landscape around us to see where we might support others in their endeavours to do the same. I wish you a wonderful year ahead. Sine Timore Aut Favore.
MR. DAVID YOUNG Head of School
GREETINGS FROM THE PRINCIPAL OF THE SENIOR SCHOOL Dear St. George’s Families, Welcome back to another exciting year at St. George’s School! The 2026–27 school year promises to be one full of memorable moments that turn into lifelong memories. Following our first full year on the new Senior School Campus, it really now feels like Tang, Brown, and Princeps Halls have collectively become our home. We never take for granted how fortunate we are to come to school each day and enjoy such beautiful facilities. I’m often asked, ”What makes St. George’s Senior School such a special place?” It would be easy to point to our aforementioned facilities, our robust and rigorous Academic Program, or the depth of our Athletics and Co-Curricular offerings. While each of these areas is a source of great strength and pride for our School, my answer to this question always begins with our powerful community. A community shaped by dedicated, caring, and passionate educators and staff who work tirelessly in service to our boys. A community committed to every boy feeling a sense of belonging and purpose while at school. A community that places student wellness as a leading priority at all times. A community that is singularly focused on helping each student become the best version of themselves.

I am always mindful of the powerful partnership that we have with our families. We share the same ambition: to do everything possible to help each of our students maximize their potential. To help our boys develop into ready and relevant future leaders, it is crucial that we leverage all facets of their school experience. Whether it is Academics, Student Life, or our deeply held commitment to facilitating an environment that nurtures wellness and belonging for every boy, our mission remains vibrantly clear to us. Simply put, this mission guides and supports our boys. STUDENT LIFE STUDENT LIFE OVERVIEW Student Life enriches our students’ experience at School, ensuring that the development of our Core Values and the socialemotional growth of each individual remain at the forefront of our daily endeavours. Grounded in positive relationships, our school community nurtures a sense of belonging and provides opportunities for students to gain a strong sense of identity. We accomplish these goals of identity formation through a systems approach and intentional programming within our Advisory structure, Co-Curricular Programs, Student Support Services, Flex Days, our Wings Program, and by capitalizing on teachable moments. CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMS Co-Curricular Programs are an important aspect of our education program and include Competitive Athletics, Recreational Athletics, Arts and Leisure, and Co-Curricular Clubs. All students in Grades 8–10 must participate in a co-curricular activity each term; students in Grades 11 and 12 are permitted to take one term off. Students’ co-curricular assignments will be posted on Canvas, along with details about the location and the start time of activities. Students will receive a Report Card comment outlining their attendance and participation in each co-curricular activity. INTEREST CLUBS Interest Clubs are student-led groups that provide another opportunity for students who share similar passions to come together, connect, and collaborate. In September, there will be an Interest Clubs Fair for students to see the wide range of clubs available. ADVISORY Our Advisory Program ensures every student is known, connected, and supported as part of a school culture grounded in care. Rooted in restorative practice, Advisory circles prioritize proactive relationship-building, a sense of belonging, and trust. Students develop empathy, self-awareness, and the social-emotional skills needed to thrive in relationships and contribute positively to the community.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS Student comportment is a core aspect of life at St. George’s School. As always, we hold our students to the highest expectations and are pleased with how they learn to meet them daily, forming habits that lay the foundation for their success for years to come. The Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for our students’ behaviour both on and off campus. It is essential that all students take the time to review the key principles outlined and to fully understand the expectations. As parents, you would have reviewed and signed the Code of Conduct during the registration process. UNIFORMS AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE St. George’s School’s Uniform and Student Personal Appearance Policy exist in order to cultivate a safe and respectful educational environment. The Dress Code outlines our high standards for presentation and complements our expectations for work and behaviour. The uniform is an expression of our shared community, and we ask students to wear their uniform with respect and responsibility. The Spring Dress Code will be in place until Thanksgiving. St. George’s School’s Uniform and Student Personal Appearance Policy both support and foster an inclusive school environment. We expect that all students will meet our Uniform and Personal Appearance standards. Students should wear their uniforms with pride and follow the standards set by the School. Specifically, they should be dressed in the following: • White School Logo Golf Shirt (September and Spring Dress) OR • White Dress Shirt with School Tie (Number One Uniform) • Grey Pants • Black Belt • Grey Socks • Polished Black Dress Shoes • School Blazer (for Assembly and Special Occasions) During school hours, students are not permitted to wear sweatshirts, hoodies, or jackets in the building. If students require warmer clothing in the winter, they are advised to purchase a school sweater or wear their school blazer. ATTENDANCE Attendance is mandatory for all students. Being physically at school and working with classmates and teachers is a key component of the educational experience. If students are going to be absent from school for any reason, please notify our Attendance Clerk prior to the absence by sending an email to: senior_attendance@stgeorges.bc.ca or by leaving a voice message at: 604-221-3636. SCHOOL ENTRY AND LATE STUDENTS Arriving on time is essential for our students’ success. Students who are late for classes should go straight to their class and will be logged as late by their teacher. Students who demonstrate a pattern of tardiness will be held accountable and subject to school disciplinary action. TECHNOLOGY The use of laptops is an important part of the learning environment. All students are required to bring a charged laptop or tablet with them daily. These devices will allow them to connect to our Canvas Learning System as well as other applications used throughout the School. During the 2026-27 Academic Year, St. George’s Senior School will continue with its restricted use of cell phones and personal data devices for entertainment purposes (games, videos). Students are not permitted to use technology of any type during their lunch period except for academic purposes, and only within designated areas (Learning Commons and areas supervised by a teacher or staff member) of the school. For more information, see the Cell Phone Use Policy here. FOOD SERVICES AND LUNCHTIME All students will eat in Princeps Hall (including Grads) during lunch period. Students may choose to bring their own lunch to Princeps Hall (microwaves available) or participate in the Hot Lunch Program. Sign-up for the Hot Lunch Program is available HERE. Students who bring their lunch from home are expected to recycle their lunch containers as appropriate. Dietary Restrictions Students with special diets will be accommodated.
