From the Dugout With Manager Cameron Mawer Good afternoon and welcome to the Premier Plus Stadium for today’s game against Coton Green. A warm welcome to their players, staff and supporters who have made the journey. We come into today’s game in a really positive place after two excellent results. Firstly, we progressed in the FA Vase with a good win against Thetford Town, which was important for us. We then backed that up with an excellent 5–0 win away at Histon. To score five goals away from home and keep a clean sheet was really pleasing, but for me the biggest positive was the overall performance and the standards the players set throughout the game. Now our focus has to be on backing those performances up again today. Coton Green have made a solid start to the season and currently sit just behind us in the league. Their results show they are capable of competing with anyone at this level, so we know we have another difficult game ahead of us. We’ve put ourselves in a good position in these early stages of the season, but there is a long way to go. What matters now is consistency. We want to keep improving, keep picking up results and make the Premier Plus Stadium a difficult place for teams to come.

I’ve been really pleased with the attitude of the group. There is good competition for places, the players are pushing each other and we are starting to see the standards we expect on a more consistent basis. Thank you, as always, for your support. Club History St Neots Town Football Club, nicknamed ‘The Saints’ - St Neots Town was formed in 1879, simply as ‘St Neots’. Operating as an amateur side in its early years, the club tasted its first major success by becoming the inaugural winners of the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup in the 1888-89 season. They dominated local cup competitions around the turn of the century while playing in the Biggleswade & District League.

The club went through a couple of early name changes, becoming St Neots & District in 1924, and joining the Bedfordshire & District League (later the South Midlands League), which they won in 1932- 33. They made their first foray into the United Counties League (UCL) in 1936 before the outbreak of World War II disrupted regional football. Post-War Eras and Name Changes (1950-1988) In 1949, the club became founder members of the Metropolitan League, winning a league and cup double in their very first season. They officially settled on the name St Neots Town F.C. in 1951. The late 1960s marked one of the most successful eras for the club:

FA Cup Run (1966-67): The Saints enjoyed their best-ever run in the FA Cup, reaching the First Round Proper, where they put up a valiant effort before falling 2-0 away to Walsall.

The Record Streak: By 1969, the club won the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup for a staggering 12th consecutive season, setting a historic record for senior cup wins in England.

League Double (1967-68): They rejoined the UCL and quickly claimed the Premier Division title and League Knockout Cup double.

However, the late 1980s brought severe hardship. In 1987, the owner of their long-term Shortsands Yard home sold the ground to developers. Forced to play on a borrowed works pitch and drowning in outstanding debt, the club was forced to completely disband in 1988. Reformation and Modern Era (1990-Present) The club’s absence from football lasted only two seasons. In 1990, local investors stepped in to reform St Neots Town FC. Starting from scratch in the Huntingdonshire Junior League and playing on communal council pitches at Priory Park, the team won four consecutive titles to earn readmission into the UCL senior divisions by 1994. The club climbed back up the non-league ladder, moving into their modern Rowley Park stadium in 2008. To signal their high ambitions, they even appointed former Northern Ireland internationals Steve Lomas and Michael Hughes to their management team in 2009, alongside former Fulham midfielder Sylvain Legwinski. This ambition paid off with a dominant 2010- 11 season, breaking multiple league records en-route to winning the UCL Premier Division and initiating a rise through the Southern League systems. Following their championship campaign in the United Counties League Premier Division South, The Saints continue their journey up the English football pyramid. Cameron Mawer was appointed First Team manager in May 2023 in first season suffered heartache in league play-off in UCL North Premier, to achieve promotion following season as champions, the progression back to step 4 & the Northern Premier League, Saints stay was short and were relegated back to UCL Premier South for upcoming season.

In the Chair With Chairman Barry Cavilla Good afternoon and welcome Everyone to today’s United counties Premier league south match at the premier plus stadium. Today ,We welcome all the players ,officials and supporters of Coton Green to St Neots Town and the premier plus stadium ,We will also be making a piece of history between both clubs as the very first meeting between our 2 clubs. Coincidentally we will also be playing back to back fixtures with Coton Green as next Saturday we visit them in the next round of the UCL league cup ,so it will be important to hit the ground running and show our visitors our credentials for this season. Its been a very busy week with FA Vase and league matches for Cameron and the team, putting in 2 very strong performances in both matches with victory over a competitive Thetford side to make our way to the next round of the FA Vase and a dominant victory away at Histon to complete a very successful start for the team so far this season. So today’s visitors like ourselves have made a Good start to their league campaign and this will be a BIG test for both teams to show what they are capable of doing this season and lay down a marker about their intentions going forward and staying in touch with the leading pack in this very competitive league. Back to Back Promotions as Darts Team secure League early

We had no collective experience of playing competitive darts and so our expectations for the season were just to try and hold our own. Fortunately, we won our first game and we never really looked back. We ended up winning the league and gaining promotion at our first attempt. Moving up a division the standard was notably higher as you would expect. There were some nail-biting games which could have gone either way but the lads all stepped up when it really mattered and delivered. This resulted in us winning the league and gaining back to back promotions, with a game still to play to boot. Its been a crazy couple of seasons, ones which none of us would have predicted when we threw our first darts this time last year. We all love the competition and I'm proud to captain these fellas. We are all looking forward to giving it another crack next season and going for the hat-trick! I cant finish without giving a special mention to Louise and the bar staff team for keeping us fed and watered on a Thursday night, we certainly keep them honest as none of us are shy in having a beer or two!

GOOD AFTERNOON AND A WARM WELCOME TO COTON GREEN FC FOR THEIR FIRST EVER VISIT TO ST NEOTS TOWN FC Founded in 1982 – some 103 years later than St Neots Town, our visitors have made an impact on local football after running youth football only for the first 20 years plus. A brief history of our visitors can be found elsewhere in the programme. Transferred to the UCL at the start of the current season they have made an early impact and when these notes were penned, they were sixth in the league table – just one place and one point below our lads having completed three more matches. They have made a mixed fortunes start in the UCL having won four and lost four of their first nine matches this season – the other being a home draw. Away from home their two league victories came at Highgate (7-0), and Histon (2-1) whilst their best cup victory was at Coventry Sphinx in the League KO Cup where they recorded a 6-2 victory. In the FA Cup this season they travelled to face higher graded opponents at Chasetown and were beaten by six goals to one, and then last weekend they progressed in the FA Vase with a 2-0 victory over Crewe FC who recently debuted in the North West Counties League. Next week our two sides meet again – this time at Coton Green – where we shall both be looking to progress in the Spotts Ground Development League Cup competition. St Neots record in this competition is not impressive with successive defeats in an earlier round of the competition.

OPPONENTS SPOTLIGHT With Club President John Walker RECENT HISTORY – COTON GREEN The club was established in June 1982 as an under-13 team, gradually expanding to run several junior teams. In the early 2000s the club entered an adult team into the Tamworth & District Sunday League. In 2004 they switched to Saturday football, joining Division Three of the Midland Combination. ] The club won Division Three at the first attempt, earning promotion to Division Two. After finishing second in Division Two in 2006–07 they were promoted to Division One. The club were Division One runners-up the following season, securing promotion to the Premier Division. However, the club spent only one season in the Premier Division, finishing bottom of the table and being relegated back to Division One. Coton Green remained in Division One until 2014 when the Midland Combination merged with the Midland Alliance to form the Midland League, with the club placed in Division Two. In 2021– 22 they were Division Two runners-up, earning promotion to Division One. The club finished fifth in Division One in 2024–25, qualifying for the promotion play-offs. After beating Heather St John's 2–0 in the semi-finals, they defeated Leicester St Andrews 5–3 on penalties in the final to earn promotion to the Premier Division. Ground The club initially played at Whittington Barracks, before moving to Dosthill Park in 1988. In 1993 they moved to New Mill Lane of Fazeley Swifts, later becoming the main tenants of the site after Fazeley Swifts folded due to the changing rooms burning down in 1995. In 2008 the first team moved to Brereton Social's Red Lion Ground in order to meet the Midland Combination Premier Division ground grading requirement to have floodlights.[2] They later returned to New Mill Lane, where floodlights were installed in 2016.

Club Welfare With Club Welfare Officer Gemma Keech My name is Gemma Keech, and I am proud to be the Club Welfare Officer (CWO) at St Neots Town Football Club.

My role is to help create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone at the club. This includes overseeing safeguarding procedures, responding to any welfare concerns, and ensuring that all coaches and volunteers have current FA Criminal Record Checks (DBS) and up-to-date safeguarding training. The welfare of every child, young person, and adult at risk involved with the club is my priority. This covers players within our Development Teams, as well as Under-18 players who represent the First Team, Reserve Team, and Under-23s. I am the main point of contact for players, parents, carers, volunteers, and club members who have any safeguarding or welfare concerns relating to these groups. I was appointed to this voluntary position by St Neots Town Football Club due to my professional background in Education and Children’s Social Care, where I developed extensive knowledge and experience in safeguarding and child protection. I believe it is important to be approachable, supportive, and available to anyone who may need advice, guidance, or someone to talk to about a concern. Looking back…….. With Club President John Walker Another in a series of historical records looking back at our fortunes in a past season (both good and bad!)

ST NEOTS TOWN FC 2015/2016 SEASON This is another in the series of historical records, highlighting our recent spell in the Southern League depicting both the highs and the lows in the recent proud history of the Club. After our most successful season in the history of the club the previous season it was back to earth with a bump as we slumped fifteen places down the league table – in freefall with just one league victory in our final fourteen matches! We finished without silverware just four points above the relegation zone, and in addition we lost the services of Manager David Batch after he had overseen 61 matches. At Christmas we were 12th in the league table – just five points shy of a play-off place and our dip in results and loss of fortunes almost coincided with the loss of striker Tom Meechan who was at that time our leading marksman with 25 goals in 38 appearances. Subsequent to his departure we won just one match as our season spiralled downwards. Without a Reserve team we had to rely on inexperienced youngsters to bolster our flagging fortunes. League

In 23 home league matches we scored just 26 goals giving us only six home victories in 23 starts. Away from home we were more prolific scoring 43 goals but ironically it was almost win, only if we score because our four away victories produced 20 goals – only six less than our total home tally, winning at Bedworth (6-0), Cirencester (5-2), Paulton (5-2) and Cambridge City (4-1). A busy FA Cup schedule saw us draw at Tilbury but ordered by the FA to replay the match again away from home before drawing at home to Worthing but losing the away replay in a penalty shoot-out. Memorably we only got as far as the M25 in the replay before a coach breakdown meant another trip the following Tuesday. We ran no Reserve side. St Neots suffered their biggest home defeat for two years at the hands of a slick and determined visiting Kettering side who now boast the best away record in the Division. Their chief tormentor was Spencer Weir-Daley who scored a superb hat trick of well taken goals in 50 mins either side of half time. St Neots were without Taylor Parr who was beginning a lengthy spell of suspension and his replacement Tom Wood was under constant pressure at the heart of the home defence. However, there was one bright spot in defeat – the return to form of Ryan Hawkins who was back to his best on St Neots right flank crowning his performance with the best of the six goals that were scored. The other St Neots team change saw the return of Rogan McGeorge in midfield with Jordan Patrick on the bench. St Neots will have a swift opportunity to make amends for their second successive home defeat because Kettering return to the Premier Plus Stadium in three weeks’ time in the first round of this season’s Red Insure Cup competition. The visitors got off to a flyer as they totally dominated the opening 25 minutes mounting wave after wave of attacks on the home defence. In the third minute Rene Howe only just failed to get on the end of a James Brighton cross in front of an open goal and then visiting skipper Brett Solkhon was left unmarked ten yards from goal but he sent his header well wide to St Neots’ relief from a Don Langdon cross. However, the respite lasted only fourteen minutes and then St Neots under pressure keeper Alex Archer failed to hold on to a cross from the right leaving Spencer Weir-Daley with a tap-in finish to open the scoring. The same player had the ball in the net four minutes later, but his effort was ruled out by an offside flag and then Howe flashed a shot just inches wide of a post with Archer beaten. There were brief flashes of defiance notably from Ryan Hawkins who was marauding down the right flank and spraying dangerous crosses into the Kettering box, but St Neots were playing with just James Hall up front and he was being outnumbered by defenders. Hall did go close with one effort that drifted wide but eight minutes before half time Kettering sealed their domination of the half when Nathan Hicks took a clever return pass from Weir-Daley to go clear and beat Archer from a narrow angle. Worse was to follow five minutes later when Weir-Daley added his second goal when the home defence failed to deal with a cross from the right. St Neots best first half chance fell to Declan Rogers who shot over after unselfish play by James Hall. It looked like a different St Neots side that emerged after the interval. They took the game to their visitors with a brand of attacking football not seen in the first 45 minutes. Paul White had to go full length to push away a shot from Micky Hyem and James Hall headed straight into the keepers’ arms. Then after 52 minutes Ryan Hawkins went past two defenders before cutting inside to unleash his first St Neots goal since November last year following his lengthy injury absence. That seemed to inspire his side and Declan Rogers just failed to reach a Hawkins cross in from of goal as Kettering seemed to buckle. However, any hopes of a dramatic recovery were cruelly crushed after 68 minutes when in a rare breakaway attack WeirDaley completed his hat trick with the St Neots defence caught short. St Neots sent on substitute Jordan Patrick, and he looked very lively down the left as St Neots strived to chase what was effectively a lost cause and he brought a good save from White before setting up James Hall for a shot that flew wide. Hawkins then found the head of James Hall who again could not find the target and the match ended disappointingly as Kettering plundered a fifth goal against the run of play, Wilson Carvalho looking well offside tapping in from close range. Match Report Vs Thetford Town FC FA VASE SECOND ROUND QUALIFYING- SINGLE GOAL ENOUGH AS SAINTS EASE THROUGH St Neots Town

St Neots produced a rather pallid performance, but it was sufficient to ease them through to the next round of the FA Vase. Visitors Thetford shared much of the attacking play particularly in the second half, but home goalkeeper Ben Heath had a quiet game and was never seriously threatened. St Neots should have won by a more convincing margin, but their finishing was not good, and they failed to take full advantage of their possession and openings. The visitors seemed reluctant to shoot making too many passes in attack when finishing seemed the logical course of action. It was a match played in a good spirit with Referee Daniel Statham having an easy match to control with few moments of controversy. St Neots made just the one team change with Danny Baulk and James Stainsby continuing to share a wide berth almost equally over the past few matches, but home manager Cameron Mawer will be concerned that his side never really dominated despite always looking the better side. St Neots began well and in their first attack after four minutes a close-range effort by Danny Baulk was deflected for a corner. They continued to look positive with better possession and Magloire Muyembe suffered the same fate eight minutes later when a defender conceded a corner from his sharp finish. Full back Jake Kerins joined the home attack to fire over the bar and after 19 minutes the home side did get the ball in the visitors’ net, but an offside flag cancelled out the effort. An acrobatic overhead finish by Muyembe was over the target and then the same St Neots player set up Connor Furlong, but he dragged his angled shot beyond the far post. Just past the half-way mark of the first half the visitors won three corners, but they failed to provide a threat on the home goal. The home side continued to pose the greater threat for a breakthrough, but when the lively Muyembe went clear of the defence former St Neots keeper Oliver Sutton was quickly off his line to smother the shot. Baulk set up Connor Barnes whose shot was parried and the half ended with a breakaway attack by the visitors with a St Neots defender getting back to block the final shot.

The second half began with Sutton out of his goal to clear but the ball went straight to Furlong who tried a chip over the retreating keeper, but it was just too high. Muyembe continued to look St Neots most threatening attacker and he saw a shot deflected for a corner but after 52 minutes St Neots got what was to prove the winning goal. The move began from the back and then Joe Sutton picked up the ball in the centre circle and attacked the visiting defence before slipping the ball to Magloire Muyembe who calmly turned in the area to fire home. That signalled a Thetford comeback as they enjoyed a spell of attacking possession that failed to produce a significant finish. The home defence held firm and apart from one Thetford effort that passed over the home crossbar there was little threat from the visitors. Barnes shot wide and Henderson had a shot deflected following a corner but the home goal was never seriously threatened by a visiting side that had left their shooting boots at home!

St Neots recorded a very comfortable victory over a poor Histon side that threatened very little. The final scoreline could have been greater but for a determined performance by home keeper Tyler Key. An unchanged St Neots side were always in control, and they will have taken confidence from their overall performance. The home side have now lost nine of their ten matches this season – their only victory coming at home when they defeated visitors Brightlingsea in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup competition. For an unchanged St Neots side their goalkeeper was rarely threatened with their defence was easily able to mop up any pale threat produced by the home attack. The match got off to an explosive start with St Neots taking the lead after just four minutes when Harvey Henderson moved forward to head home at the far post a lengthy throw from Lewis Burgess. In the visitors next significant attack Connor Barnes playing against his former club went clear of the home defence but keeper Tyler Key smothered his shot at his feet. Histon’s first significant attack after 19 minutes saw Dan Brown have a breakaway attempt blocked by a defender and then the home side had to regroup when striker Ryan Sharman was injured and forced to retire with Jake Coxall substituting. St Neots maintained their early pressure and after 31 minutes they doubled their lead when a ball across the face of the home goal was not cleared and Connor Furlong netted. Histon tried hard to get back in the game with little effect and Magloire Muyembe squandered a good opening firing high over the home crossbar. The half ended with former Saint Lil Francisco joining his attack to shoot wide after the home sides’ most threatening first half attack. The second half began with Luke Kenny producing a lengthy shot that flew harmlessly over the crossbar and St Neots were quickly in the ascendancy with Danny Baulk having a shot blocked by a defender but in the very next attack Baulk added his name to the scoresheet with a scorching volley from a Furlong cross. Now three goals behind Histon decided to change their approach with two attacking substitutions. Sadly, it did little for their fortunes because the visitors continued to control play and any home attack was quickly broken up by the well regimented St Neots defence. A Barnes header glanced off the far post with the goalkeeper beaten as St Neots continued to dominate, and when the home side lost their cool defender Jonny Hall was sent off by the Referee. Histon sent on another substitute to boost their struggling under pressure defence, but St Neots still pressed forward and after 73 minutes just one minute after his introduction, substitute James Stainsby extended the score when he chased and converted from a narrow angle tio further extend the visitors’ lead. The visitors then introduced three late substitutes to rest players, and they continued to harass the home defence and five minutes from time Connor Barnes marked his return to Histon with the final goal set up by the excellent Joe Sutton. Last season was my very first as the official mascot of St Neots Town FC... and what a debut it was! I've been busy spreading smiles, cheering on the Saints and making plenty of memories. If you see me around the ground this season, don't be shy – come over and say hello!

Selfies? Absolutely! I'm always happy to pose for photos, hand out high-fives and celebrate with supporters of all ages. If you spot me around the ground, come and say hello—I promise I don't bite!

Leading Out the Future Stars One of my favourite jobs is leading our young matchday mascots onto the pitch alongside the first team. Seeing those huge smiles as they walk out in front of the crowd is something special. Get your youth team signed up this season for this great experience.

Racing for a Great Cause One of the biggest adventures of last season was competing in the Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Racecourse. I may not have brought home the trophy, but together we raised money for two fantastic children's charities—and that's a win in my book!

Out and About in the Community Football is about more than 90 minutes on a Saturday. I'm always looking for opportunities to visit local schools, community groups, charities and businesses to help spread the word about St Neots Town FC.
