Dear SPCS Community,
As we reflect on the past year, our hearts are filled with profound gratitude for the incredible support, spirit, and shared mission that define our Saint Patrick Catholic School family. Together, we have continued to nurture a vibrant, faith-filled community committed to academic excellence, servant leadership, and the formation of young hearts and minds rooted in Christ.
This year has been marked by growth, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose. Our students have inspired us daily with their curiosity, compassion, and courage. Our faculty and staff have continued to lead with dedication and grace, creating a learning environment where each child is known, loved, and challenged. Our parents, grandparents, alumni, and benefactors have given generously of their time, talents, and treasures, ensuring that our mission thrives.
We are especially grateful for the many ways our community came together this year, in prayer, in service, and in celebration. Whether it was gathering for Mass, volunteering in the classroom, cheering at games and performances, or supporting fundraising efforts, you have helped make Saint Patrick not just a school, but a true home for faith and learning.
We thank God for each of you and ask for His continued blessings upon our school. May we move forward with hope, united in the belief that Catholic education is a gift not only for today, but for generations to come.
In Christ,

Fr. David Mulholland Pastor

Kate Chambers Principal

Abby McElligott Vice Principal

The 2025 Annual Fund, chaired by committed Saint Patrick parents and parishioners Joel Panlilio and Joyce Dinglasan-Panlilio, was a remarkable expression of faith, gratitude, and community. With the theme “Building Tomorrow Together,” the Panlilio family invited our community to reflect on the shared responsibility of sustaining excellence at Saint Patrick Catholic School. Inspired by Saint Joseph, the patron saint of builders, their leadership reflected a deep commitment to family, faith, and the mission of Catholic education.
Following an exceptionally successful 2024 auction season, the Panlilios chose a meaningful and unconventional approach by forgoing a traditional campaign kickoff in favor of a gratitude reception at Tacoma Country and Golf Club. This gathering brought together parish and school families to celebrate generosity and shared purpose, setting a tone of appreciation that carried throughout the campaign. Their vision emphasized closing the gap in educational costs, supporting tuition assistance, and addressing ongoing campus maintenance.
Thanks to their leadership and the extraordinary generosity of the Saint Patrick community, the 2025 Annual Fund raised $218,000 from 341 donors, including more than $3,000 in employer matching gifts. With an average family gift of $639, participation reached 80% of school families and an inspiring 98% of faculty and staff. We are deeply grateful to the Panlilio family for their tireless efforts and to our entire Saint Patrick community for building tomorrow together through faithful generosity and support.
In July 2025, the Panlilio family proudly passed the baton to Matt and Angela Batie Carlin, as chairs of the 2026 Annual Fund. This transition reflects the strong tradition of outstanding parent leadership at Saint Patrick Catholic School. Their willingness to lead continues to inspire generous investment in our mission and ensures ongoing support for the formation and education of the next generation.

On March 8, 2025, Robert and Marlo Oesch, dedicated parents and parishioners of Saint Patrick Catholic Church and School, hosted the 50th REACH Auction, commemorating 132 years of Catholic education at Saint Patrick School. In honor of this milestone, the Oeschs welcomed guests to an extraordinary evening at the Marriott Tacoma Downtown. The REACH Auction stands as one of the longest-running fundraisers in the Archdiocese of Seattle and remains the largest philanthropic effort on our campus, providing vital support for operating costs, tuition assistance, facilities, and other critical needs.
The theme, “REACH – A Golden Opportunity,” truly came to life. A total of 502 seats were sold, 475 guests attended, and more than 30 parent volunteers contributed to the evening’s success. Six of our past seven principals were present, including Sr. Nora Murphy, the last living Dominican Sister Principal (1965–1967), who was joined by five Sisters of Saint Dominic. It was a profound honor to recognize the women and religious order who founded Saint Patrick Catholic School. We were also delighted to welcome back 39 past auction chairs and celebrate their enduring commitment to Catholic education.
With a fundraising goal of $500,000, the 2025 REACH Auction exceeded expectations, raising an outstanding $522,742, including more than $15,000 in employer matching gifts. These funds fully supported identified needs, including new science and math curricula and the addition of 3D printing resources. Passionate about bringing learning to life, the Oesch family championed interactive, research-based programs that engage every student. The updated K–8 science and math curricula align Saint Patrick Catholic School with next-generation educational standards, putting theory into practice and inspiring our scientists, engineers, and mathematicians.
Over the summer, the REACH working committee coordinated the purchase and delivery of materials, while faculty and staff participated in professional development to prepare for implementation. The new curriculum was successfully launched in fall 2025, immediately enriching classroom instruction.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our 2025 Auction Chairs, Robert and Marlo Oesch, the REACH Board, and every donor whose generosity continues to strengthen our school community. Thank you to the 230 raffle ticket purchasers, 71 sponsors and community partners, 456 bidders, and to each and every donor who made this event possible.
In July 2025, the Oeschs proudly passed the REACH Auction baton to Alex and Liz Whitefield, continuing the tradition of exceptional parent leadership. Alex and Liz will chair the 2026 REACH Auction on March 21, 2026, at the Marriott Tacoma Downtown. Tickets are now on sale at saintpats.ejoinme.org/REACH26. We are deeply grateful for your continued investment, leadership, and generosity that sustains our beloved school.

The Scrip program has been a valued part of Saint Patrick Catholic School fundraising efforts for more than 30 years. In 2022, the longtime platform ShopWithScrip was rebranded as RaiseRight, modernizing the digital experience for families and organizations alike. Scrip remains an effective and sustainable fundraising tool used by thousands of parochial schools, transforming everyday purchases such as gas, groceries, and dining, into meaningful financial support for Catholic education.
Through RaiseRight, Saint Patrick families and friends purchase physical or electronic retail gift cards at face value from thousands of participating retailers. There is no cost to the purchaser—if a family buys a $100 gift card, they receive the full $100 value. Retailers, in turn, provide a rebate to the school (typically ranging from 1% to 25%). Saint Patrick Catholic School earns the difference, generating funds simply by encouraging families to shop. Scrip purchases align with the school’s fiscal year, running July 1 through June 30.
During the 2024 - 2025 fiscal year, the Scrip program generated an impressive $83,365 in total revenue. This included $47,100 from families who opted for a full Scrip buy-out, $13,605 from partial buy-outs, $21,394 earned through Scrip purchases and rebates, and $1,266 from a pilot profit-sharing initiative. These proceeds directly support school operations.
The 2024 - 2025 Scrip program was led by Saint Patrick parent and parishioner Wynter Dait, whose dedication and leadership have strengthened participation year over year. Wynter thoughtfully fosters connections with new and returning families, business partners, and friends of Saint Patrick Catholic School. Wynter will continue to chair the Scrip program for the 2025 - 2026 academic year. We are deeply grateful for Wynter’s service and commitment to the long-term success of this vital program. Saint Patrick Catholic School’s advancement efforts are led by Development Director Christy Johnson and Assistant Development Director Chelsey Anderson, whose collaborative leadership supports a comprehensive and sophisticated fundraising operation. Together, they oversee the school’s three primary fundraising pillars—the Annual Fund, REACH Auction, and Scrip Program—while dedicating countless hours behind the scenes to building meaningful relationships with parents, parishioners, alumni, and friends of Saint Patrick Catholic School. As a result of this effort 80% of donors gave philanthropic gifts more than once in 2025 to Saint Patrick Catholic School, with a 74% donor retention rate (donors who give year after year). Additionally, Saint Patrick Catholic School families volunteered 9,298 contributing their time and talent to our parish, school and broader community.
Working in close partnership with parish and school administration, event chairs, the Parent Association Executive Committee, and the communications team, the Development Office ensures alignment across all advancement initiatives. The team collaborates closely with the Admissions and Facility Committees to help plan and coordinate outreach efforts and capital improvement projects.
Throughout the year the Development Office actively pursues matching gifts, multi-year grants, and other funding opportunities to support operating expenses and strategically identified priorities. Planned giving is thoughtfully cultivated over time, helping to secure the long-term sustainability of the school’s mission.
In 2025, Saint Patrick Catholic School was honored with several anonymous gifts from generous community members and was named in multiple bequests, for which we are deeply grateful. We also received grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Fulcrum Foundation, Korum for Kids Foundation, The Frost and Margaret Snyder Foundation, and the Washington State Fair Foundation.
To learn more about matching gifts, grants, planned giving or volunteerism, please contact the Development Office at development@saintpats.org.

During 2024–2025, Saint Patrick Catholic School’s primary communication channel, the school newsletter distributed via Constant Contact, continued to demonstrate strong engagement and reliability. A total of 62,501 emails were sent over the course of the year, generating 40,746 opens and an impressive average open rate of 67.28%, well above typical benchmarks for school communications. Readers were not only opening emails but also engaging with content, as evidenced by 6,061 total clicks and an average click rate of 9.52%. With only 49 unsubscribes across the entire year, the data indicates sustained trust and relevance in school messaging, reinforcing the newsletter’s role as a cornerstone of family communication.
On Facebook, the school experienced significant growth in engagement and visibility, even as follower trends fluctuated. Content interactions reached 19,035, representing a 49.6% increase over the previous year, signaling that posted content resonated strongly with the community. Reach also grew substantially, climbing to 48,650 accounts, a 41.3% year-over-year increase.
Instagram showed notable momentum in audience reach and steady follower growth throughout the year. The account achieved a reach of 19,212, marking a dramatic 110.1% increase from the prior year and highlighting Instagram’s growing importance as a platform for visual storytelling and school highlights. The account added 130 new followers, with a net gain of 58 after unfollows, reflecting healthy and sustainable growth. Together, social media performance in 2024–2025 demonstrates a shift toward broader visibility and deeper engagement, complementing the school’s direct communication efforts and strengthening its overall communications strategy.

During the 2024–2025 admissions cycle, Saint Patrick Catholic School demonstrated strong stability and continuity within its student body. The retention rate from the 2023–2024 school year to 2024–2025 held at approximately 90%, reflecting sustained family satisfaction and confidence in the school’s academic, faith-based, and community environment. This high level of retention underscores the effectiveness of ongoing family engagement, student support, and the school’s ability to meet the needs of returning students across grade levels.
At the same time, the school experienced meaningful growth through new enrollment. For the 2024–2025 school year, Saint Patrick welcomed 55 new families, resulting in 88 new students joining the community. This influx more than offset the 45 eighth-grade students who graduated, contributing to healthy enrollment momentum and reinforcing the school’s appeal to prospective families. The balance between strong retention and successful new admissions highlights a stable yet growing enrollment pipeline.
Geographically, the admissions data reflects a broad and diverse reach, with enrolled families representing 48 different zip codes. This wide distribution points to Saint Patrick Catholic School’s strong regional reputation and its ability to attract families beyond its immediate neighborhood. Collectively, the admissions outcomes for 2024–2025 indicate retention of current families, while continuing to expand its footprint and welcome new members into the Saint Patrick community.

In Spring of 2024, the Fulcrum Foundation, in coordination with the Office for Catholic Schools, introduced the St. John Baptist de la Salle Educator Excellence Award. St. John, the patron saint of teachers, devoted his life to the education of young people.
“Nominees were considered for their unwavering commitment to mission and Catholic identity, their leadership and inspiring presence in their school community, their dedication to academic excellence, and their efforts to go above and beyond to insure the viability and sustainability of their school. The criteria for Fulcrum’s new award are based on The National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools, or more frequently referred to as the NSBECS,” writes the Fulcrum Foundation on their website.

Suzanne Christnacht, a Lead Teacher in the Early Learning Center since 2012, was one of the seven inaugural recipients, out of over 2000 educators in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
For more than 15 years, Mrs. Christnacht has been a cornerstone of SPCS, inspiring countless students through her warmth, creativity, and tireless dedication to Catholic education. Her classroom is more than a place of learning, it’s a space where students are empowered to grow in their love of Jesus and faith, compassion, and confidence. Her students also excel in early learning academics.
Principal Kate Chambers shared, “Mrs. Christnacht exemplifies the heart and soul of our mission. She embodies what it means to teach with love and intention, always putting the needs of her students before her own. This award is a testament to the incredible impact she has had on our school and the lives she has touched.”
The St. John Baptist de La Salle Exemplary Teacher Award was created to honor educators who model a commitment to Catholic education and excellence in teaching. Mrs. Christnacht’s selection from among so many distinguished educators in the Archdiocese is a proud moment not only for her but for the entire SPCS community.
