The Brothers of the Sacred Heart have lived out Father André Coindre’s mission to form young men through a charism of compassion, faith, and transformative relationships for 125 years in New Jersey. Their calling is not simply to educate, but to shape hearts—awakening a sense of purpose, service, and brotherhood in every student entrusted to their care. Guided by Coindre’s belief that young people thrive when they are known, loved, and accompanied, the Brothers of the Sacred Heart continue to inspire generations at Saint Joseph High School, nurturing students to become leaders who act with integrity, serve with humility, and bring hope to the world. Letter from John Nolan Dear Saint Joseph Community, Across our campus and throughout the community, there is a shared sense of pride and momentum as we reflect on a year defined by the Saint Joseph Brotherhood. At the center of everything we do is the enduring charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, rooted in the vision of Father André Coindre. 125 years after the Brothers of the Sacred Heart arrived in Metuchen, Saint Joseph High School continues to form young men through a mission rooted in faith, service, and brotherhood. The impact of that mission is seen not only in our accomplishments, but in the lives shaped by a community united in purpose. The past year has been very exciting at Saint Joseph High School. Our students were awarded over $31 million in college scholarships, 25 percent of AP students earned a 5 on the annual Advanced Placement exams, our student-athletes won two overall state championships and five Greater Middlesex Conference titles, while activities including Model UN, Youth & Government, Esports, Robotics and Mock Trial continue to provide endless opportunities for students to grow. Your generosity makes these successes possible and allows Saint Joseph to carry this mission forward for future generations. With enrollment nearing 600 students, the continued support of our community is paramount to ensuring students for generations to come can experience all that Saint Joe’s has to offer.

The Brothers of the Sacred Heart have long understood that young people thrive in a community where they are known, loved, and accompanied—a place where academic success and personal formation grow together. Father André Coindre recognized that building such a community required opening doors for all students, especially those who might otherwise be left behind. Scholarships are a direct extension of this mission. By reducing financial barriers, scholarships ensure that talented and deserving young men can fully participate in the Saint Joseph experience—its rigorous academics, its culture of brotherhood, and its opportunities for leadership and service. Scholarships allow the Saint Joseph community to come together in support of current and future students, ensuring that every young man has the opportunity to benefit from the formation envisioned by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.

Br. Richard Leven S.C. Legacy Scholarship The Brother Richard Leven, S.C. Legacy Scholarship was established by Mr. Richard Lenihan (Br. Hugh) in recognition of Brother Rich’s 65 years of consecrated life in community as a Brother of the Sacred Heart and his dedicated service to the youth of Saint Joseph High School. Brother Rich served as the long-time freshman guidance counselor as well as the Track & Field and Cross-Country Coach. Preference for this award is given to the son or grandson of an Alumnus of Saint Joseph High School.
Br. Ronald Cairns S.C. Memorial Scholarship The Br. Ronald Cairns S.C. Memorial Scholarship was established by the Saint Joseph High School Fathers Club in memory of their longtime moderator. A Brother of the Sacred Heart and Partner in Mission for over 60 years, Br. Ronald embodied the spirit of Fr. André Coindre’s charism by supporting students on their faith journey.

SIGNATURE EVENTS “The Falcon Golf Classic has become our yearly tradition—a chance for all of us to reconnect, laugh, and relive the brotherhood that shaped us. My brother, cousins, and I make a commitment to play every year because of how much we appreciate our shared Saint Joe’s experience. This outing really keeps that bond alive. It’s more than golf; it’s a reminder of where we came from and where we’re going, bringing our St. Joe’s values with us at every step.”
Sean Finan ’13 Falcon Golf Classic The Falcon Golf Classic is a celebration of the bonds forged at Saint Joe’s—where brotherhood extends far beyond graduation. Year after year, alumni return not just to play golf, but to reconnect, share stories, and honor the friendships that shaped their high school experience.

Each year, I gather my classmates and we celebrate our lifelong friendship, our successes, and the foundation that Saint Joe’s gave us. Dave Checchio ‘95 Green Tie Gala The Green Tie Gala brings the Saint Joseph community together for an evening rooted in gratitude and generosity. Alumni, parents and friends gather to celebrate lifelong friendships while supporting the Annual Fund—sustaining the school’s mission for today’s students and tomorrow’s Falcons—and honoring the foundation that shaped their own Saint Joe’s experience. The Gala is a powerful reminder that giving back is both a privilege and a responsibility shared across generations.

Parents Club The Parents Club embodies the spirit of collaboration that defines Saint Joe’s. Through events like the Basket Raffle, families unite with a shared purpose: supporting programs that help students thrive. Student Activities and Achievements Kristian Almanzar ’26 embodies the spirit of gratitude, leadership, and brotherhood that defines Saint Joseph High School. As the fourth Saint Joe’s student to receive the prestigious Jerome Riso Scholarship, Kristian joins a select group of young men recognized by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart for living out their mission in word and action. Sponsored by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, the Riso Scholarship is a full-tuition award presented annually to one student from a Brothers of the Sacred Heart school who exemplifies character, faith, and commitment. For Kristian, the scholarship carries deep personal meaning rooted in family and responsibility. “Coming from a household of immigrants, I have always seen my parents work hard day in and day out,” he shared. “I feel like this is a way I can repay them for all the love and sacrifice they give to me and my siblings.” The scholarship, he added, motivates him to push himself each day—academically, personally, and spiritually—holding himself to the highest standard even when no one is watching. Saint Joseph High School has played a defining role in that growth. Kristian has developed not only as a student, but as a young man grounded in faith and brotherhood. “My experience at Saint Joseph has been life-changing,” he said. “I’ve made my best friends here, and most importantly I’ve learned how to be a true man and how to carry that into the real world.” That formation is evident in how Kristian approaches daily life on campus. He credits Saint Joe’s with shaping his maturity, integrity, and work ethic—qualities he sees as hallmarks of a Brothers education. “Saint Joe’s holds me to a certain standard which I never want to fail,” he said. “I try to lead others on the right path, work hard every day, and always do the right thing.” Kristian sees the mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart lived out in the way students care for one another and in the relationships built across campus. “When you meet a kid my age that isn’t from Saint Joseph, you can see the difference,” he said. “The mission of the Brothers has formed all of those qualities into one—they have made me a true Saint Joseph Man.”

Student Achievements for FY24/25 y The Class of 2025 earned $31.5 million in college scholarships, with 78 percent of the class accepting an award averaging $109,980 y Elikem Amenuvor ‘25 and Ronan Pell ‘25 were named National Merit Scholarship Finalists y Two graduates earned appointments to United States Service Academies: Troy Boucher (Coast Guard Academy) and Brandon Trivino (USMA - West Point) y Two athletic programs won their third consecutive state championships (bowling and volleyball); five athletic programs won Greater Middlesex Conference titles (Soccer, Swimming, Wrestling, Lacrosse and Baseball), and two programs won division titles (football and tennis) y The Youth & Government delegation was named “Outstanding Delegation” and Saahir Vazirani ‘26 was elected Lieutenant Governor at the annual YMCA conference y The Esports Program launched during the 2024-2025 school year, creating new leadership and competition opportunities for all students. The team was nationally ranked and competed in the state tournament.

Faith & Formation From the moment students step onto campus, Saint Joseph High School seeks to do more than educate—it strives to form young men of faith who know they are valued, loved, and called to serve. Few stories reflect that mission more clearly than the journey of Brother Michael Migacz, S.C. ’83, whose path from Falcon to Brother of the Sacred Heart speaks to the school’s lasting commitment to nurturing vocations and faith-filled lives. As a student, Br. Mike experienced a community rooted in presence, care, and genuine relationships. The Brothers and teachers at Saint Joe’s created an environment where students felt supported and understood. “Sometimes teens are shy, reluctant, and selfconscious,” he recalled, “but the sympathetic adults made us feel comfortable. That guidance formed me because it helped give me confidence and realize my worth.” The warmth and humanity of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart challenged common stereotypes of religious life and quietly planted the seeds of vocation. Br. Mike remembers being drawn to their authenticity and their joy in working with young people. Still, discernment unfolded gradually. “There was a desire to be more prayerful, and also a call to work with young people—to be a teacher and be like the Brothers who were engaging and uplifting,” he said. “All of these longings tugged at me.” Prayer and mentorship played key roles in that journey. Conversations with trusted

guides, including Brother Robert Ziobro, S.C., and experiences of community life helped him better understand religious life. During his sophomore year at Rutgers University, Br. Mike took the next step, joining the Brothers of the Sacred Heart as a candidate. More than forty years later, his commitment to the Brothers’ mission remains strong. Having served as an educator, Brother Mike now ministers as Vocations Director for the United States Province and as a member of the Provincial Council. In these roles, he continues to advance the vision of Father André Coindre—helping young people recognize their God-given dignity. “Father Coindre had a passion for young people,” Br. Mike said, “and he wanted them to know deep down that they are loved, that they matter.”

Dear Saint Joseph Community, On behalf of your Saint Joseph High School Board of Directors, I want to personally thank you for your unwavering commitment to supporting Saint Joseph High School. Each day I see first hand the impact our school is having on the student body and we wouldn’t be where we are today without you. With close to 600 young men on campus, it is paramount to our future and theirs that we provide the very best opportunities so that Saint Joseph High School can continue to be at the forefront of Catholic high schools in New Jersey. As you can imagine, the footprint of our student population is very different from when you and I were students. Our leadership team, led by President John Nolan and Principal Anne Rivera is committed to continuing the tradition of a Saint Joseph education, rooted in the charism of Fr. André Coindre and the mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. It is our duty as alumni of this school to continue offering our support so that current and future students can thrive during and after their time on campus. I continue to be proud of the level of support our alumni provide and the meaningful difference your generosity makes in the daily lives of our school community. Saint Joseph High School is not only forming award-winning students in the classroom and champions on the field, but—more importantly—developing young men who serve others and commit themselves to making the world a better place.

It gives me great pride to share that over the past five years, we have seen a 114 percent growth in alumni and community support, including a 14 percent increase in dollars raised and a 54 percent increase in the size of the average gift. Your generous support allows our leadership team to offer more than $1.5 million in need-based financial assistance and scholarships, as well as increased funding for extracurricular activities and athletics. As a proud alumnus, I want to personally thank the 762 fellow alums who supported their high school alma mater, especially the classes of 1965, 1974 and 1984, who collectively reached over 20 percent in total class participation. Thank you for leading the way and showing 64 years of graduates what it truly means to be a Saint Joseph Falcon. I speak for the entire Board of Directors when I say thank you for supporting Saint Joseph High School, the charism of Fr. Coindre and the mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Each of our adult lives was formed in some way in the hallways of Saint Joe’s, and I know our impact is creating the same possibilities for the current students.
