SAG-AFTRA Conservatory Presents (Don't Fear) Improv: Demystifying and Making Improv Less Scary for Actors Please join this special interactive conservatory with Jack Bronis. "I'm always amazed when I hear actors are afraid to improvise. This workshop is intended to make improvisation less scary for performers," Bronis said. Park at 10 East Ontario. Enter on the north side of Ontario between Wabash and State, and then take a ticket. When you sign in, you may purchase a four-hour ticket for $13 cash, $14 Visa, MasterCard or American Express payment. You will need both tickets to exit the parking structure. This meeting is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. Unfortunately, no guests allowed. Parents/guardians of younger performers under 18 years old are welcome. SAGAFTRA members, please bring your membership card (paid through April 30, 2017) for admittance.
Come to Kaufherr After Dark! The Kaufherr Members Resource Center will host a fundraiser at Zanies on March 6 with headliners and SAG-AFTRA members Michael Issac and Calvin Evans! Chicago's Original Comedy Club, Zanies in Old Town, has been presenting the best in live standup comedy since 1978. The veritable who's who in comedy has commanded center stage over the years. When: 8 p.m. doors open; 8:30 p.m. performance, Monday, March 6 Where: Zanies Comedy Club 1548 N. Wells St. Chicago, IL 60610 Tickets: $20/person (does not include two-item/drink minimum) 100 percent of your ticket benefits your Kaufherr Center, Chicago's free performers resource center. Purchase your ticket today while quantities last by clicking here. Or by contacting the Kaufherr Center office at 312-867-5503. Tickets must be purchased in advance and through the Kaufherr Center. Tickets for this fundraiser is not being sold through Zanies. Grab a friend and laugh your socks off! See you at Zanies! Performers' Bios: Michael Issac is a stand-up comedian and actor from the south side of Chicago. As an actor, he has several corporate films under his belt, live performances and television commercials for companies such as McDonalds, Walgreens, Old Navy and Walmart. Issac has made Zanies Chicago his comedy home, where he performs regularly as the host and feature. Calvin Evans is a Chicago native. He has been seen on Kevin Harts' Hart of the City on Comedy Central, and Acting Out on MTV. Evans made his acting debut on Shameless on Showtime and landed a co-starring role on Chicago PD.

Chicago Federation of Labor College Scholarship Applications Applications for this year's William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship are now available online. The Chicago Federation of Labor will award 10 college scholarships valued at $2,000 each to high school seniors. There will be five winners from the Academic Competition and five winners from a random drawing. The William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship was created to show high school seniors that the labor movement stands in solidarity with them as they continue their educational pursuits. Essays will be evaluated and ranked by the Scholarship Committee based on best expression of personal experience and a fundamental understanding of what the labor movement represents. The application deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 15. In response to members' requests to stay informed, The Activator may include notice of rallies, pickets and other actions by unions and the labor movement that have not been sanctioned by the National or Chicago Board of Directors of SAG-AFTRA.
