“IT ALWAYS SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL IT’S DONE.” – NELSON MANDELA The vision of Safe Haven is to eliminate family homelessness in Middle Tennessee. It is a rather lofty goal. Most people would believe that it is just a phrase, one that we can never achieve. I believe, however, that if it is Safe Haven’s mission vision, then we need to be doing everything within our power to realize that goal. With the various issues that concern families experiencing homelessness, it will take the work of a number of agencies paired with collaborative community efforts to make progress and create lasting change for families experiencing homelessness. The challenges associated with family homelessness require leadership in addressing the barriers that families face. With 38 years of experience in working with families experiencing homelessness, Safe Haven has the expertise and the abilities to assume that responsibility. This event tonight is one of the keys in helping Safe Haven provide housing, critical services for parents and children, and support to over 300 families annually. Dancing for Safe Haven is one of Nashville’s most admired events; its purpose makes a difference in the lives of so many families. With a dedicated staff, board, volunteers and donors, we are poised for continued excellence and growth to successfully carry our mission. I am thankful for our dancers who agreed to be a part of event tonight. They have worked diligently to fundraise, rehearse and raise awareness and will take the dance floor to give families in our community a place to call home. I want to recognize our wonderful event chairs, Kearstin Patterson, Candice Reed and Shane Tarleton, all former Dancing for Safe Haven dancers. They have done a remarkable job of fundraising, have dedicated time and talents, and are bringing the “fun” to the evening! I also want to acknowledge the behind-the-scenes work that goes into Dancing for Safe Haven—from our sponsors, dancers, board of directors, staff, volunteers and production company, BlueSky Filmworks, composed of Stephen Hill, Brock Slagle and Bradford Van Demark. Their professionalism and creativity along with Nic Dugger and the TNDV team ensures that this evening will be one to remember. Our event director, Tinti Moffat, has brought a new energy to this event, and we are grateful for her dedication and efforts. Staff members Rachael Wilkins, Allyson Bahr, Stacy Nunnally and Yen Lai have worked alongside Tinti to organize this year’s Dancing for Safe Haven. Finally, if you are not a part of Safe Haven, I invite you to join us and get involved in the many ways to support our mission. EVENT CHAIRS KEARSTIN PATTERSON is Vice President of Creative for HCA Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare services with nearly 2,000 sites of care across the United States and U.K. With HCA Healthcare since 2013, Kearstin leads a team of award-winning creative professionals responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of creative solutions across internal and external platforms. Previously, Kearstin held leadership positions with various public and private companies, including BioMimetic Therapeutics, National Coal Corporation and Shop At Home Network, Inc., part of E.W. Scripps Media Company. In total, Kearstin has more than 15 years of creative and communications experience across a variety of sectors and has won numerous awards in her field, including the Public Relations Society of Nashville’s Mercury Award, the Nashville Business Journal’s Forty under 40 award and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Nashville Emerging Leader Award. In addition to Safe Haven Family Shelter, she has served on the boards of many nonprofit and industry organizations, including Leadership Healthcare, the Arts and Business Council, and Iroquois Steeplechase.
CANDICE REED currently serves as Executive Vice President of Latitude and is the Partner in Charge of its Tennessee operations. Latitude is a legal services company, headquartered in Nashville, that places experienced attorneys and paralegals into high-end contract engagements and permanent positions. She also runs her own consulting business (PositiveCreed.com) and is an Adjunct Professor at The University of Tennessee College of Law, where she teaches an upper-level course on “Thriving as a Lawyer” and sits on the Advisory Board for the Institute for Professional Leadership. Candice also co-hosts the podcast “Leveraging Latitude”. Candice previously served as Chief Ethics Officer and in-house legal counsel at Ceridian and Comdata and began her legal career at Miller & Martin PLLC, where she practiced business litigation and commercial bankruptcy law. Candice has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, legal recruiter, trainer and coach for lawyers and their organizations and is a frequent speaker on topics such as attorney wellness, professional development and leadership, workplace engagement, and career satisfaction and transition. She received her J.D. from The University of Tennessee College of Law (2000) and was among the nation’s first lawyers to obtain a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (M.A.P.P.) degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. Candice is a member of several bar associations and, in addition to volunteering for Safe Haven Family Shelter, serves on the Advisory Board for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Nashville.
SHANE TARLETON currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Artist Development at Warner Music Nashville. He leads marketing and creative services for the complete roster of artists, including Blake Shelton, Cole Swindell, Dan + Shay, Gabby Barrett, Kenny Chesney, the Zac Brown Band and more. Shane also oversees the label’s touring, brand partnerships, analytics, interactive marketing and video strategy teams. His previous experience includes event production for MGM properties in Las Vegas, six years in the art department at RCA Label Group and a stop at Titley/Spalding Artist Management. Outside of his professional life, Shane remains a visible ambassador of and active partner to Nashville-based nonprofits such as Musicians On Call and Safe Haven Family Shelter. He also created and financed an education program at Copprome Orphanage in El Progreso, Honduras, in conjunction with Hearts2Honduras that continues to benefit children to this day. 1 1

EVENING HOSTS KELLY SUTTON has been the go-to entertainment journalist in Nashville for two decades. Her conversations with some of Music City’s biggest stars feels more like a friend “hang” than an interview. And it should feel that way. Kelly has been chatting with the likes of Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean and Garth Brooks since 2001. You can find Kelly on in the mornings joining Bill Cody and Charlie Mattos for the dynamic WSM Radio show “Coffee, Country and Cody,” where Bill, Charlie and Kelly start every weekday off with great music—country, bluegrass, Americana, Opry cuts, and live studio guests, the latest news, entertaining features and lively talk about everything from A to Z. Kelly also has a blog, “Connected with Kelly,” to correspond with her YouTube series. She can also be heard on her syndicated radio show “Y’all Access with Kelly Sutton,” and she is the co-host of the transatlantic podcast “Holler Weekly” based in London. Kelly is also the first full-time female announcer at the Grand Ole Opry, where she regularly chats with the brightest Opry stars and the biggest names in country music. She danced in our inaugural event, taking home the Audience Favorite Award, and is returning for the 10th year of hosting Dancing for Safe Haven.
SHAWN PARR has been the voice of country music for over 33 years. Born and raised in Southern California, he now resides in Nashville, Tennessee, and is currently hosting his own nationally syndicated radio show, “Shawn Parr’s Across the Country.” For several years, Shawn could be heard on over 150 stations coast to coast on “Nash Nights Live,” a show he launched back in 2014 for Cumulus Radio. Shawn has been the voice for The Academy of Country Music Awards, The Golden Globes, American Music Awards, plus so many more for almost 30 years and has also been featured on numerous nationwide radio and television specials ... and now he is coming to you personally “Across The Country!”

HERO AWARD “I THINK A HERO IS ANY PERSON REALLY INTENT ON MAKING THIS A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL PEOPLE.” - MAYA ANGELOU Anita and Larry Cash embody the essence of what it means to be Safe Haven heroes. They have a deep sense of commitment to supporting Safe Haven’s families and have contributed in myriad ways to ensure families experiencing homelessness have a place to call home. Their journey with Safe Haven began in 2015, when longtime supporter Jerry Bostelman asked Anita to participate as a Dancing for Safe Haven dancer. Once Anita was introduced to Safe Haven, she felt a calling to become more involved. She brought Safe Haven to Larry’s attention, and they began working together, each contributing unique talents to further the organization’s mission. In 2016 and 2017, Anita chaired the Dancing for Safe Haven event, and she, along with Larry, began to bring several individuals from their networks. While Anita focused on chairing the event and involving new prospects, Larry laid the foundation for a successful corporate engagement strategy. Larry served as President of Financial Services, Chief Financial Officer for 18 years at Community Health Systems (CHS). Through his role at CHS, he greatly increased Safe Haven’s visibility and spearheaded fundraising from CHS and the healthcare sector as a whole. Many companies that would have otherwise not have known about Safe Haven joined in as sponsors. Since his retirement in 2017, Larry has continued his work in creating a legacy of support with the healthcare industry. Dancing for Safe Haven revenue has more than doubled as a result of Anita and Larry’s efforts. They have opened their home for gatherings, given generously of their time, talents and gifts to contribute to Safe Haven’s vision of ending family homelessness. Anita also joined Safe Haven’s board and marketing impact team, lending expertise from her decorated 25-year advertising and marketing career. They also support initiatives throughout the year, such as holiday giving, Hike for Safe Haven, donation drives, giving campaigns and more. There is nothing that Anita and Larry find more rewarding than being a part of changing lives, particularly the lives of children. They want to lead individuals to learn more about Safe Haven, and feel that they could not have found a better place to land. Both from humble beginnings, Anita and Larry have made it an integral part of their life’s work to bless others. Their families instilled the importance of giving from an early age, and throughout their marriage, they have made a tremendous impact by helping several nonprofit organizations. Anita and Larry have been married for 26 years, have lived in the Nashville area for 25 years, and have three children: Lauren Greenwood, Allison Cash Jenkins and Brad Cash, along with seven grandchildren.

ABOUT ANITA Anita Cash began her 25+ year advertising and marketing career in Chicago at Draper Daniels and Kenyon & Eckhardt before launching her first agency, The Greentree Group in Racine, Wisconsin. Anita was later recruited by the Detroit Medical Center and healthcare marketing quickly became her passion. She rounded out her healthcare experience at the corporate headquarters of Humana and HCA before founding Greenwood Marketing & Management, an award-winning agency that specialized in healthcare-based affinity programs, marketing and publishing. In addition to serving on the Safe Haven board, Anita was a Safe Haven dancer in 2015 and chaired the Dancing Gala in 2016 and 2017. She also chaired La Bella Notte Opera Gala, co-chaired The TPAC Gala and was president of the Nashville Opera Guild Board. Anita serves on the Chic Awearness board and advisory council for the Northern Illinois University Huskie Marching Band & Silverette Dance team. ABOUT LARRY Larry Cash was Chief Financial Officer and president of Financial Services at Community Health Systems (CHS) until his retirement in 2017. For 16 years he also served on the CHS Board of Directors. Prior to CHS, Larry held executive level finance positions at HCA and Humana. Larry began his career at Price Waterhouse Coopers. Larry has been on the Board of Directors at Cross Country Healthcare for 21 years serving as Lead Director, audit committee chair in addition to other roles. He previously served on the board of American Addiction Centers and was a member of the Nashville Healthcare Council. In October 2016, he began serving on the board of privately owned Health Channels and in December 2021 joined the Safecor board. He is on the advisory board of Vesey Street Capital Partners. Larry served three years on Cumberland University’s Board of Directors and is currently a board member and past president at Brentwood Country Club. Larry has been recognized multiple years as a top CFO by Institutional Investor and was named Business Tennessee’s inaugural CFO of the Year in 2008. He earned the same distinction in the public company category from Nashville Business Journal in 2009 as well as the CFO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. Larry received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Kentucky at Lexington.

JUANITA SIMANEKOVA started dancing at a young age and has enjoyed teaching Ballroom and Latin dance in the Nashville area since 2008 when she relocated here to compete with her professional partner. Over the years, she has earned several Rising Star Rhythm Champion titles and is an Open Rhythm Finalist at numerous events throughout the country. As an experienced instructor, Juanita enjoys working with students of all ages in both private and group settings. Seeking ways to be active in the community through dance, Juanita has volunteered to provide lessons during Metro Parks’ Big Band Dances, participated in numerous local fundraising events and has provided instruction at several local high schools for their special events. In addition, Juanita has been fortunate to work with Metro Parks and Friends of Metro Dance in the past to implement a summer program, Music City Ballroom Kids.

DANCERS BILL O’BRYAN with Marielle Suddarth FOXTROT BILL O’BRYAN is a nationally recognized, award-winning attorney at Butler Snow LLP. He practices with the firm’s Commercial Litigation group and focuses his practice on the resolution of business disputes, commercial litigation, creditor rights, bankruptcy and restructuring matters. Bill serves on the board of directors for the Tennessee Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and is a frequent contributor to Butler Snow’s BizLitNews blog. A native of southern Indiana, Bill moved to Nashville in 1974 to attend Vanderbilt Law School and has called Nashville home ever since. He has been involved with various nonprofits and organizations in the area, including Room In The Inn and the Endowment Committee of Dominican Campus. Outside of the office, Bill spends time with his three grandchildren and coaches junior high basketball at Christ the King Catholic School, where he is also a member of the School Council. In 2014, Bill and his wife, Susie, started weekly ballroom dancing lessons and were introduced to Dancing for Safe Haven through Juanita Simanekova, their ballroom instructor and event dancer. Since then, they have been avid supporters of Safe Haven and the organization’s mission of addressing family homelessness in the community through Dancing for Safe Haven and other efforts. He is looking forward to dancing to raise money for the critical work Safe Haven does in the community.
PROFESSIONAL DANCER MARIELLE SUDDARTH started her dance career at 8 years old studying the Balanchine method of classical ballet in the pre-professional academy of the Kansas City Ballet School. At 16, Marielle transitioned to ballroom and Latin dance, and competed Pro-Am until moving to the United Kingdom to attain her undergraduate degree. Throughout college, Marielle received training from champion coaches across the U.K. and competed in both International Latin and International Standard styles on the Oxford University Dancesport “A” Team. Marielle now enjoys teaching competitive and social students of all ages in Nashville and offers lessons primarily in the American Rhythm and American Smooth styles. Marielle currently competes throughout the U.S. in Professional American Rhythm and Showdance, with her professional dance partner, Ian Meeks.

DANCERS BETH WITTE with Michael Hosale LATIN MEDLEY BETH WITTE is the Senior Vice President and Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer for Community Health Systems, one of the nation’s leading operators of general acute care hospitals, with 83 hospitals in 16 states. In her role, she is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the Compliance and Privacy programs for the company and its affiliated hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and physician practices. She previously held the position of Vice President of Internal Audit and oversaw the CHS Enterprise Risk Management program. A Certified Public Accountant, Beth began her career at Deloitte & Touche in the Nashville office as an Audit Manager prior to joining CHS. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University, a bachelor’s degree of business administration from the University of Louisiana and is an alumna of the Nashville Health Care Council’s Fellows program. She currently serves on the Board of the Nashville Chapter of the American Red Cross, and has previously served as the chairperson of their Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Beth lives in Brentwood with her husband, Kevin (a Nashville native), and their new baby daughter, Chloe. Her older children include her son Dylan and daughter Caitlyn—both are currently students at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The family enjoys traveling together, attending football games and an array of other activities that keep them active.
PROFESSIONAL DANCER MICHAEL HOSALE was born and raised in Nashville. Just like Michael, his lessons are one in a million! Michael has been competing, coaching and training his students to be the best they can be for almost 30 years. He teaches all four styles of dancing, American Rhythm and Smooth, and International Latin and Standard. Michael has trained with many of the world’s top coaches. He has competed all over the world, both professionally and Pro-Am. His students always place well in their competitions. Dancing is his love and passion, and he enjoys sharing all of the amazing benefits that come with learning to dance. He brings fun and excitement to every lesson and makes learning to dance easy, fun and simple!

DANCERS JAMES MARSH with Milan Jackson RHYTHM FUSION JAMES MARSH is Warner Music Nashville’s National Director of Radio and Streaming, a position he has held for nearly four years. In his current role, James secures radio airplay for all Warner Music artists that are dispersed across three radio teams: WMN, WAR and WEA. He strategizes with individual teams to determine the best course of action for maximizing airplay for artists like Ashley McBryde, Blake Shelton, Cody Johnson, Dan + Shay, Gabby Barrett, Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band. James motivates regional directors to create success stories for all of their artists. He was the Southwest Regional Director at Warner Music Nashville and also spent years working for Warner’s Elektra division earlier in his career. Prior to his return to Warner, James was a Regional Director at Big Machine Label Group’s Dot Records. He’s also put in years with countless record labels—Atlantic Records, Island Def Jam Music Group, Universal Music Group—and spent the early years of his career on the radio side in Dallas. James was born and raised in Dallas, surrounded with a love of music, watching his father perform as a Jazz/R&B/Blues musician. His mother influenced his commitment to donating his time and treasure to good causes. For years, James has been donating to the United Way and NAACP, and he is a proud supporter of the Meharry Medical College in Nashville and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. He moved to Nashville in 2018, where he lives now with his wife and two daughters, Koda and Kassidy.
PROFESSIONAL DANCER MILAN JACKSON has been dancing since age 3 and has 10 years of overall teaching experience spanning from theatre to hip hop, to breakdancing, to jazz, tap, ballroom and more! She has also been a choreographer on regional and community theater stages in New York. Milan also has an exciting acting background in television and media, having done work on “Orange is the New Black,” “Blue Bloods” and “Power”. Most recently, Milan has been privileged to make appearances in music videos. Milan enjoys creating and teaching dance curriculum that translates into simplicity, fun and confidence for the students. Nothing brings her more joy than to see someone smiling when they dance!

DANCERS LEISA GILL with Christopher Wayne ‘80S MEDLEY LEISA GILL is the Director of Growth for LBMC, working with a wide array of industries including manufacturing, distribution, retail, real estate, construction, technology and private company leaders and high-wealth individuals. With her career of over 25 years at LBMC, she has a deep understanding of LBMC services. Her leadership, business acumen and communication skills help her quickly identify issues that result in improved performance and positive outcomes for clients. Leisa is the lead that brings the appropriate resources and team members together to solve problems and help clients excel in both compliance related matters, as well as growth strategies. She has chaired the Regional Economic Development Council and works with companies looking to relocate to the region. The Nashville Business Journal named her a Woman of Influence. She serves on various boards, and has received numerous national and international business and achievement awards, including being named the industry’s Marketer of the Year and Hall of Fame member.
PROFESSIONAL DANCER CHRISTOPHER WAYNE is a South African native and has been dancing for 30 years. He has risen to be one of this nation’s top-rated professional dancers. He and his professional partner, Mallory Evan, are currently fourth in the country in the 9-Dance category. Known for a persistent teaching style interspersed with a great sense of humor, Christopher’s students excel quickly under his guidance. He and celebrity partner Kelly Sutton won the Dancing for Safe Haven event in 2010. In 2015, he and celebrity partner Kyah Hillis won the Audience Favorite award, and in 2019 he and celebrity partner Becky Harris won the Audience Favorite Award. This is his eighth year performing in the event.

DANCERS KINDAL JUMPER with Ian Meeks BOLERO CABARET KINDAL JUMPER grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and moved to Nashville in 2011. Raised by entrepreneurial parents, she learned from an early age what hard work looks like and where it can lead you. She was a two-time Georgia Stage Rodeo Champion in high school and received a scholarship at Troy University where she attended from 2007–2010. Graduating early with a degree in Small Business & Entrepreneurship, her goal was always to continue in the family tradition of entrepreneurialism by supporting the expansion of their family footprint in the music industry. Soundcheck was established in 2004 where Kindal now serves as General Manager. Living on her family ranch has taught Kindal to be self-sufficient. Hobbies include gardening, growing herbs and baking. She also enjoys spending time with her nephews. Her bucket list includes skydiving over Mount Everest and owning her own bakery/coffee shop in Whites Creek, Tennessee. Most importantly, it seems Kindal loves a challenge and never seems to say “no” to an opportunity to give back to her community. Being part of several nonprofit organizations gives Kindal many occasions to make a positive impact in our community for things she is passionate about. She makes excellent use of her skills and endless energy to contribute to the greater good. Kindal is looking forward to dancing in this year’s Dancing for Safe Haven event and supporting Safe Haven’s efforts to keep families facing homelessness, together. Because, after all, isn’t family and a place to call home everything?
PROFESSIONAL DANCER IAN MEEKS is a native of North Carolina, where he started his dance career in show business. Having studied musical theater, modern, contemporary, tap, jazz and trained in many other dance styles for 10 years, Ian was a professional traveling around the country until he chose to settle in Nashville. This is where he discovered one of his greatest loves, teaching dance. Ian still competes professionally in Cabaret and has had considerable success with American Rhythm and Smooth in different seasons of life. Now Ian focuses on helping others achieve their dance goals. He finds joy and success bringing others onto the stage or competition floor for the very first or 100th time, and training them to be better than before. Whether a dancer’s desire is to learn a dance for a wedding or to be a champion, Ian will help you get there.

DANCERS JOSHUA MUNDY with Mallory Evan CHA-CHA & SAMBA JOSHUA MUNDY is a native Nashvillian who was inspired at an early age to generate income in very creative ways. His forecasting and visionary skill set has served him well. Through his entrepreneurial spirit, he has the innate ability to generate an idea and pair it with the activation required to achieve the goal to provide solutions for some of the greatest needs in our community. In business, he believes individuals have to weather storms and exercise foresight to succeed. Joshua is the CEO and Co-Founder of Pivot Technology School, a tech workforce development school that provides training in data analytics, software development and cybersecurity. Through Pivot Technology School, the goal is to provide a pathway for more minorities to be trained and engaged in technology careers. Joshua is currently a board member with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Creatives Day, Nashville Promise Zone Economic Development Steering Committee and the Nashville Technology Council Foundation Board.
PROFESSIONAL DANCER MALLORY EVAN is a California native turned Nashville enthusiast! She is a classically trained dancer that specializes in all competitive ballroom dance styles as well as Latin social dances and swing. Mallory has competed extensively throughout the United States and is currently competing in Professional American Rhythm and Smooth (9-Dance) with her partner Christopher Wayne. Christopher and Mallory have won several Rising Star and Open Professional competitions throughout the U.S. and are currently United States Professional 9-Dance finalists. Mallory is an experienced performer and was selected to dance at the Super Bowl Pregame and Halftime shows. She has been a featured performer at the Nashville Dance Congress as well as various music videos and promotional events. Mallory is thrilled to participate in Dancing for Safe Haven for the fifth time.
