Dear Friends, For 37 years, Safe Haven has served the community as the premier shelter-to-housing program that accommodates families experiencing homelessness. We provide hope and housing to parents and children; giving families the chance to stabilize and supportive services that they need to be successful. We want to eliminate family homelessness in Middle Tennessee. We have been waiting for this night for a year and a half. When the 2020 event was postponed, we were unsure of when we would gather again. We are thankful for the opportunity to enjoy a tremendous evening together and help families in need. Speaking from experience, I am also so thankful for our dancers who practiced and practiced, and had to keep practicing until we could host the event. Tonight, we expand the possibilities of our event with our move to the Omni. I want to thank our sponsors who have stayed with us as we navigated pandemic restrictions. Our stellar event chairs, Kyle Allen, Karen Hingtgen, and Ken Williamson have also done an amazing job of making this evening both big and full of fun! I also want to acknowledge the behind-the-scenes work that goes into Dancing for Safe Haven - from our sponsors, dancers, board of directors, staff, volunteers and production company, BlueSky Filmworks, comprised of Stephen Hill, Brock Slagle, and Bradford Van Demark. Event Chairs KYLE ALLEN - As Vaco Nashville’s Executive Partner, Kyle oversees Vaco’s Music City team and its day-to-day operations. He puts his heart and soul into making sure every one of Vaco’s corporate clients gets the attention and service we promised and then some. He believes – and exemplifies- the idea that you don’t gain clients when everything is going great; it’s when you rush in to handle a crisis that you’re truly of service. He also plays a hands-on role in placing consultants in Accounting and Corporate Finance projects. Kyle is a self-described “recovering” Certified Public Accountant, having started his career with the Nashville office of Ernst & Young. In 2012, Vaco made the brilliant decision to recruit him, and it’s been a match made in heaven ever since. He took the reins as Executive Partner in 2021 following years of dedicated effort and measurable success for Vaco’s clients. Kyle and his wife Courtney have put down roots in Brentwood, TN, and miraculously keep up with the sports scheduling matrix for their three children, Paxton, Caitlin, and Blake.

KAREN HINGTGEN - Karen Hingtgen, a native of London, England, is now happy to call Brentwood, TN home. She immigrated to Iowa in middle school, but not before traveling to her Dad’s home country of India. She graduated with a teaching degree from The University of Iowa, where she met her husband, Tim, who is now the CEO of Community Health Systems. Throughout her family’s time in five different states, Karen has always been highly involved with volunteering for local schools and non-profits. Karen and Tim have two daughters. Haley is married and an Occupational Therapist, and Hannah is in medical school at UTHSC. Now Karen has a little more time on her hands to volunteer within the Nashville Community. She is very excited to be a part of Dancing for Safe Haven for the third year in a row. Don’t let her size fool you - her moves on the dance floor will be anything but small. KEN WILLIAMSON - Ken Williamson is currently the President of the Board of Directors for Safe Haven Family Shelter. Ken is also Senior Vice President of Corporate Accounts at MEDHOST in Franklin, Tennessee. He provides leadership for corporate sales and relationship management for some of the largest for-profit healthcare companies in Nashville and the United States. Ken received his degree in communications at Northern Kentucky University where he was also on the baseball team. Ken and his wife Cindy live in Brentwood, TN. Cindy is a Self-employed web developer in the healthcare field with several large hospital companies across the country. They have two children, Ellen and Max. Ellen lives in Nashville and is a Business Analytics Manager with Cigna. She is recently married to Andrew Lantz. Max is an Associate with Brooklands Capital Strategies, a private equity firm in San Francisco. Max has recently married Dana Chambourova. Ken is very active in golf, swimming and running. Ken and Cindy are also actively involved in the Nashville Chapter of the American Heart Association and St. Phillip’s Catholic Church. 1 3

HERO Award Taqueria del Sol Holiday Event Team 2021 “I THINK A HERO IS ANY PERSON REALLY INTENT ON MAKING THIS A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL PEOPLE.” - MAYA ANGELOU Safe Haven is proud to recognize the Taqueria Holiday Event Team as the recipients of the 2021 Hero Award. In 2016, the Taqueria Nashville Team wanted to do something to give back to the community. Managing Partner Tony Halligan was introduced to Safe Haven through Dierks and Cassidy Bentley, longtime Safe Haven supporters, and dear friends of Tony’s. Tony wanted to do something to give back where he could involve his business partners, staff and his wonderful community of patrons at Taqueria del Sol 12 South. After visiting the shelter, Safe Haven’s mission resonated with Tony and Taqueria management. They began to form the concept of A Taqueria Holiday- a family-friendly fundraiser powered by volunteer team members on the night the restaurant is normally closed, and 100 percent of the proceeds would be donated to Safe Haven. The fundraising didn’t stop there. Tony, along with Dierks and Cassidy Bentley, business partners Ron San Martin and Mike Klank of Taqueria del Sol Atlanta, Zac and Caroline Thomas, Vic and Elizabeth Thomas, Brian and Sarah Layton, Mark and Sherry Deutschmann, and Ross and Katlin Copperman each committed to generously match the proceeds. The generosity of the matching sponsors, many longtime Safe Haven supporters and friends of Tony’s, means so much to the agency and demonstrates the power of collective impact. They were on hand at each event to thank patrons and raise more awareness about the importance of Safe Haven’s mission. Tony and the matching sponsors also involved their children in volunteering for the event. In 2019, the event garnered $103,000, with an overall total of $250,000 in funds for families experiencing homelessness in our community. A special thank you to the staff that volunteered their time and night off to make the events possible. A Taqueria Holiday would also not have been feasible without their dedication and hard work. Will Spiva, general manager, and Javier Salado, former general manager, led the events and ensured that they were a great experience for hundreds of patrons each year. They were ready when the doors opened to a crowd that was lined up down the street, not only in support of Safe Haven, but in support of the Taqueria del Sol Holiday Event Team. It is an honor and a privilege to recognize each member of the Taqueria Holiday Event Team, as the staff, matching sponsors, and patrons made this vision come to life. Judges HEATHER BYRD - Music City native Heather Byrd is an awardwinning storyteller and digital content creator who has dedicated nearly two decades to covering and promoting the entertainment industry in Nashville. She serves as Executive Producer for Taillight, a leading creative agency that focuses on forging exclusive content for brands, artists and their fans. MARCELA GOMEZ - As a founding partner of Culture Shift Team, Marcela Gómez, leads CST’s multicultural marketing and public relations division. Dancers Harry Allen FOXTROT Harry L. Allen is the Co-founder, Executive VP and Chief Relationship Officer of Studio Bank. Studio Bank is Nashville’s newest locally-headquartered bank and is a full-service financial institution with the purpose of empowering Nashville’s Creators. As a co-founder, Mr. Allen was integral in the formation of the bank including recruiting members of the team, board of directors, completing the necessary regulatory applications and helping raise over $50 million in start-up capital. Mr. Allen serves as the Bank’s lead business development officer, key point of contact for stakeholders and strategic partners, such as the bank’s Founders’ Advisory Board, and manages the Bank’s involvement and investment in community efforts. A native of Nashville, Mr. Allen is active in the Nashville community serving on the board of directors for the Center for Nonprofit Management and is a Trustee of Belmont University. Professional Dancer Juanita Simanekova started dancing at a young age and has enjoyed teaching Ballroom and Latin dance in the Nashville area since 2008. As an experienced instructor, she enjoys working with students of all ages in both private and group settings. Juanita is the program director and head instructor of the Youth Ballroom Program at Champion Ballroom Center. She attends numerous events throughout the United States to compete with her students, professionally, and to coach with top experts in the country. Seeking ways to be active in the community through dance, Juanita has volunteered to provide lessons during Metro Parks’ Big Band Dances, helped implement Music City Ballroom Kids, participated in numerous local fundraising events and has provided instruction at several high schools for their special events.

Dancers Jennifer Hillen HIP HOP / CHA CHA Dedicated community volunteer, Jennifer Osland Hillen, CPA, CGMA, is chief learning officer of the National Business Officers Association, an international, non-profit association based in Washington, DC, advancing business excellence within independent, PK-12 schools. In this leadership role, Jennifer serves the NBOA Board’s Strategic Initiatives and Governance Committees and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force. Jennifer also serves on the teaching faculty at Vanderbilt University serving Peabody College’s Master of Education in Independent School Leadership program. A certified public accountant, Jennifer worked at Ernst & Young prior to joining Harpeth Hall School. She currently serves on the boards of Renewal House and Renewed By You, having recently served as president of the Junior League of Nashville. She is an alumna of the Leadership Nashville class of 2018 and Young Leaders Council and has served on the boards of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, W.O. Smith Music School, the Junior League of Nashville, and LEAD Academies. She’s a 2019 ATHENA Awards nominee and was honored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in 2013 as top 30 Under 30. Jennifer graduated in the top 7% of her Birmingham-Southern College class, where she also studied abroad at St. John’s College of Oxford University, England. Jennifer wrote and illustrated the bestselling book, GOODNIGHT, NASHVILLE, and gives a portion of each sale to a local non-profit. She lives in Nashville with her seven-year-old daughter, Harper. Professional Dancer Ian Meeks is a North Carolina native where he started his dance career in show business. Having studied musical theatre, modern, contemporary, tap, jazz, and trained in many other dance styles for 10 years; Ian was a professional traveling around the country until he chose to settle in Nashville. This is where he discovered one of his greatest loves; teaching dance. Ian still competes professionally in Cabaret and has had considerable success with American Rhythm and Smooth in different seasons of life. Now Ian focuses on helping others achieve their dance goals. He finds joy and success bringing others onto the stage or competition floor for their very first or hundredth time, and training them to be better than before. Whether your desire is to learn a dance for your wedding or wanting to be the best of the best, Ian will help you get there.

Dancers Justin Pitt BOLERO Justin Pitt is Senior Vice President and Chief Litigation Counsel for Community Health Systems, one of the nation’s leading operators of general acute care hospitals, with 84 hospitals in 16 states. In that role, he oversees all litigation, government investigations, managed care, reimbursement, government relations and information technology matters for the Company and its affiliated hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician practices. Prior to his time at CHS, Justin was a litigator and lobbyist at Bass, Berry and Sims in Nashville, Tennessee. He is a former Chairman of the Tennessee Bureau of Ethics and Campaign Finance, a former Adjunct Professor of Business Law at both Aquinas College and King University, and a Nashville Healthcare Council Fellow. Justin is a 2001 graduate of Washington University School of Law and a 1996 graduate of Carson-Newman University. Justin has a lifelong commitment to serving people experiencing poverty and homelessness. He has received recognition from the Tennessee Supreme Court and the Nashville Bar Association for his work associated with pro bono advocacy and the Nashville Legal Aid Society. He currently serves on the Tennessee Governor’s Interagency Council on Homelessness and is the Board Chairman for The Village at Glencliff, a non-profit micro home community providing medical respite care to individuals experiencing homelessness. He is also a member of the Leaders Council of the Legal Services Corporation, America’s leading provider of financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. Justin lives in Franklin with his three children, Robert, Annalee and Ian, and his wife, Rebecca. When he isn’t working or volunteering or shuttling his kids from one activity to the next, he enjoys reading, gardening, hiking and traveling. Professional Dancer Mallory Evan is a California native and has been dancing since the age of 4. Mallory specializes in the Latin, Rhythm and Smooth styles of competitive ballroom dance as well as the Latin social dances and Swing. Mallory has competed extensively throughout the United States with her partner Christopher Wayne in both professional American Rhythm and American Smooth. The couple are current United States finalists in Open Professional 9-Dance. Mallory is an experienced performer and was selected to dance at the Super Bowl Pregame and Halftime shows as well as various videos and promotional events. She is also the coach of the Vanderbilt ballroom dance team - Vandy Ballroom. Mallory is thrilled to participate in Dancing for Safe Haven for the fourth time! 2 5

Dancers Kearstin Patterson CHA CHA Kearstin Patterson is vice president of creative for HCA Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare services with nearly 2000 sites of care across the United States and UK. With HCA Healthcare since 2013, Patterson leads a team of award-winning creative professionals responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of creative solutions across internal and external platforms. Previously, Patterson held leadership positions with various public and private companies, including BioMimetic Therapeutics, National Coal Corporation and Shop At Home Network, Inc., part of E.W. Scripps Media Company. In total, Patterson has more than 15 years of creative and communications experience across a variety of sectors and has won numerous awards in her field, including the Public Relations Society of Nashville’s Mercury Award, the Nashville Business Journal’s Forty under 40 award and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Nashville Emerging Leader Award. Professional Dancer Christopher Wayne is a South African native and has been dancing for 30 years. He has risen to be one of this nation’s top-rated professional dancers. He and his professional partner, Mallory Evan, are currently 4th in the country in the 9-Dance category. Known for a persistent teaching style interspersed with a great sense of humor, Christopher’s students excel quickly under his guidance. He and celebrity partner Kelly Sutton won the Dancing for Safe Haven event in 2010, in 2015, he and celebrity partner Kyah Hillis won the Audience Favorite award, and in 2019 he and celebrity partner Becky Harris won the Audience Favorite Award. This is his seventh year performing in the event.

Dancers Candice Reed LATIN MEDLEY Candice Reed currently serves as Executive Vice President of Latitude and is the Partner in Charge of its Tennessee operations. Latitude is a legal services company, headquartered in Nashville, that places experienced attorneys and paralegals into high-end contract engagements and permanent positions. She also runs her own consulting business (PositiveCreed.com) and is an Adjunct Professor at The University of Tennessee College of Law, where she teaches an upperlevel course on “Thriving as a Lawyer” and sits on the Advisory Board for the Institute for Professional Leadership. Candice also co-hosts the podcast, Leveraging Latitude. Candice has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, legal recruiter, trainer and coach for lawyers and their organizations and is a frequent speaker on topics such as attorney wellness, professional development and leadership, workplace engagement and career satisfaction and transition. She received her J.D. from The University of Tennessee College of Law (2000) and was among the nation’s first lawyers to obtain a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (M.A.P.P.) degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. Candice is a member of several bar associations and in addition to volunteering for Safe Haven Family Shelter, serves on the Advisory Board for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Nashville.

Professional Dancer Michael Hosale was born and raised in Nashville. Just like Michael, his lessons are one in a million! Michael has been competing, coaching and training his students to be the best they can be for almost 30 years. He teaches all four styles of dancing, American rhythm and smooth, and International Latin and Standard. Michael has trained with many of the world’s top coaches. He has competed all over the world- both professionally and pro-am. His students always place well in their competitions. Dancing is his love and passion and he enjoys sharing all of the amazing benefits that comes with learning to dance. He brings fun and excitement to every lesson and makes learning to dance easy, fun, and simple!

In Memoriam Honoring the Life and Legacy of Paula Barnes (1960 – 2021) Our hearts are heavy from the loss of our Board President earlier this year, Paula Barnes. She inspired us all with her leadership, compassion, and warmth. Paula lifted us all up. We will hold her spirit and energy close to our hearts as we mourn the loss of a leader, a mentor, and a friend. She was known for her incredibly beautiful singing voice, her leadership ability and career in law firm administration, being an avid Nashville Predators fan (and loving all sports), and her love of family as an auntie to many. We are incredibly honored that Paula’s family included Safe Haven in honoring Paula’s memory by indicating that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Safe Haven Family Shelter. Paula was a part of the Safe Haven family for 14 years. She served in a myriad of roles from volunteer, donor, board member, board secretary and as board president. Former CEO Joyce Lavery said, “As the CEO, Paula provided me with guidance, insight, and friendship. She was a fierce advocate for Safe Haven. Paula was there to not only support our mission, but joined me in deeply caring for our staff. She would always ask, “what more should/could we do to support everyone?”. We are all better off because of her leadership. I will miss her smile, her goodwill, and her dedication.” We at Safe Haven will truly miss Paula’s light, and her legacy of service, compassion, support and love for our families and mission.

In Memoriam Jaimee Simon (1974-2021) Safe Haven joins Jaimee’s family, friends and ballroom dancing community in honoring her life and legacy. Jaimee was a professional ballroom dancer and participated in Dancing for Safe Haven for many years. In addition to ballroom dancing, Jaimee was very active in her church community and missions work— her faith was her foundation. The way Jaimee lived her life with kindness and grace created friendships reaching around the world. She was also incredibly passionate about serving others, and had a big heart for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Jaimee is survived by her loving husband Billy Simon and their children, Oliver, Grace, Cary, Hailey, Nick, Rachel, and seven grandchildren; her mother Grace (Bill) Blair and sister Erin (Rich) McCaskill, and their five children. Jaimee is preceded in death by her father, Bruce Gray. She will be forever missed and remembered by her extravagant love and vibrant light. Safe Haven is grateful for Jaimee’s contributions to our mission, as she was a part of our Safe Haven family.
