CREATING JOBS TO END POVERTY
Others is a Salvation Army initiative using fair trade principles to create jobs and contribute to empowerment and poverty alleviation. We sell beautiful products that are carefully handcrafted by our artisans in Bangladesh and Kenya. Others artisans are engaged through relationships with local Salvation Army programs that focus on economic development in rural and urban settings. Examples include self-help groups focusing on women’s empowerment and projects for rehabilitation of sex workers or trafficking victims. Through training, flexible working conditions and fair wages, our aim is to help our artisans to become more independent, helping them to provide for their families, improve their living conditions, and put their children through school. When supporting Others, you contribute to sustainable development in Bangladesh and Kenya. We are pleased to share with you our new 2026 Spring/ Summer Retail Catalog.

All of Others wooden products are handcrafted by skilled carpenters at our own workshop in the city of Jashore, Bangladesh. We use sustainably sourced local wood called Gamari and Albizia Saman. These are typically grown in yards and by roadsides, and sold when a family needs an extra source of income.

The Striped Tea Towels (sold in packs of 2) are handloomed from soft cotton, highly absorbent, and versatile—they work great as hand towels. Available in yellow, terracotta, and black.
At our own workshop in Jashore, Bangladesh, we weave high-quality textiles on traditional looms. Our skilled artisans weave all our tea towels by hand, without mechanical assistance.

Our placemats and coasters in jute are made by locally available natural fibers in Bangladesh. Our artisans are involved in all steps of the process from harvesting the fibers to washing, drying, and weaving the final product. WOODEN GADGETS This beautiful wooden Shoehorn is designed by the Norwegian product designer Sverre Uhnger and produced at Others carpentry workshop in Jashore, Bangladesh. The shoehorn is made from locally sourced Albizia Saman and has been treated with a varnish consisting of natural local ingredients.

HANDLOOMED SCARF AND TOWELS
Lightweight, delicate Crosses Scarf woven with dip-dyed threads that create a subtle cross pattern. The scarf has been handloomed at The Salvation Army’s production center in Jashore, Bangladesh.
Handwoven flat-weave Turkish Towel. Despite being thin and lightweight, it’s very absorbent and takes up minimal space compared to regular towels. It dries quickly, making it ideal for beach trips and travel. Its generous size (180x90cm) allows for versatile use as a sarong, bath towel, or beach blanket. The towel has been handloomed at The Salvation Army’s production center in Jashore, Bangladesh.
