Every day, I am inspired by the ways people experience the Garden—children discovering plants for the first time, families creating memories together, and visitors finding moments of peace and wonder in nature.
In 2024, those experiences continued to flourish as the Garden expanded its impact across San Antonio and beyond. Through every exhibition, educational program, conservation effort, and visitor experience, we remained committed to our mission of enriching lives through plants and nature.
This year also marked a meaningful milestone for the Garden with my appointment as President & CEO. Having been part of this organization since 2020, it is a privilege to lead an institution that means so much to our community. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and inspired every day by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, members, donors, and partners.

Huntopia, the world-premiere exhibition by internationally renowned artist Hunt Slonem, transformed the Garden into a whimsical landscape of imagination and discovery, attracting 159,266 visitors and introducing many firsttime guests to the Garden. Later in the year, Illuminate, an immersive holiday light exhibition, welcomed nearly 50,000 guests during its inaugural season and established an exciting new tradition for our community.
Education, conservation, and access remained at the heart of our work. In 2024, the Garden offered 1,373 educational experiences that connected people of all ages with the natural world through horticulture, conservation, wellness, culinary arts, and hands-on learning. Through our Garden for All access initiative, we continued working to ensure that everyone can experience the benefits of nature.

In total, 429,475 people visited the Garden in 2024. Each visit represents a moment of discovery, connection, inspiration, or belonging. As I reflect on 2024, I am filled with gratitude and optimism for the future of the San Antonio Botanical Garden. This was a year of meaningful growth as the Garden expanded its impact through education, conservation, exhibitions, and community engagement while laying the groundwork for an even brighter future.
One of the Board’s most important responsibilities is to ensure the Garden remains strong, relevant, and impactful for generations to come. That work begins with leadership, and we were proud this year to formally appoint Katherine Trumble as President & CEO. Katherine’s vision, dedication, and deep commitment to the Garden have helped guide a period of remarkable momentum, and the Board is excited about what lies ahead under her leadership.
