Services for university students
Sable Guardians service for students at university and pathway colleges
Introduction
Sable Guardians is delighted to offer a dedicated service to students coming to the UK to study at a university or pathway college.
We are an established company with over 15 years of experience, providing a wide range of high-quality educational services to students at UK universities or pathway colleges whose parents are based abroad.
Many parents value the security of appointing a guardian for their child when they first come to the UK to attend university or pathway college. In addition, most universities and colleges now require parents to appoint a guardian until their child’s 18th birthday. However, even after students turn 18, Sable Guardians is delighted to continue offering support during their first year in the UK.
We recognise that many university and pathway college students wish to have a certain level of independence and our university service is designed to reflect this. We aim to give parents peace of mind, knowing that in an emergency their children will have support as they move on to become young adults.

Our university service includes the following:
• Pre-arrival online introduction to your UK guardian, available on request
• Pre-arrival welcome pack with tips and essential information for studying at university in the UK
• Allocation of an appropriate guardian from the Sable Guardians team with full contact details
• Access to our Chinese- and Japanese-speaking guardians (where applicable)
• Help with booking transport when you arrive in your study city
• An opportunity for students to meet with Sable Guardians staff face-to-face after arrival, at a mutually convenient time, where requested
• Guidance and assistance registering with a doctor and/or dentist plus advice on private medical cover as an alternative to National Health Service care
• Information about the local area while the student is studying
• Help and assistance purchasing student rail cards
• Helping your child settle into university life smoothly and providing support with any issues that may arise
• Where appropriate, liaising with parents or agents after visits to provide feedback on the student’s health and wellbeing
• Provision of a 24-hour on call service during term time
• Additional visits – a charge will be made for any additional visits requested
Should a host family stay be required, a £275 arrangement fee will be charged, alongside the host family’s fees
Additional in-person visits may be requested at an additional cost
Sable Guardians can provide an accommodation search service for university students, available at an additional cost
