Welcome to the latest edition of The Black Book.
The uncertainty of the first 6 months of 2023, has finally given way to a positive and active housing market. The Reserve Bank announcement on the 12th July to leave the OCR at 5.5% has signalled to New Zealand that we are at or probably past the bottom of the housing cycle. As you will see from the key metrics below there is now data to support that the housing market has turned and we are now entering a phase of house price growth.
• Black Group auction clearance rate for June 2023 - 75% under the hammer
• Auckland house price growth 0.9+ May to June 2023 (REINZ stats)
• Banks are competing for business with greater discounts, cash backs and decreased test rates.
• Migrants on residence visas accounted for 12.4% of dwelling purchases in year to June
There is still a shortage of desirable homes on the market today. So at present a first mover advantage exists for clients who can spot the trend and get ahead of their competition.

This wasn’t just a football match, this was an awakening. This wasn’t just a win, this was a stone cold upset for the ages.
In decades to come, this will be remembered as the night the New Zealand fell in love with women’s football, after one of the most extraordinary matches in our sporting history. You will never see this again. You could never dream to see this again.
