Ruth Eckerd Hall Annual Report

![]()

Our mission is changing lives through the performing arts and each year presents new opportunities to fulfill that mission, often in ways that may surprise you. I would like to share a few from 2025.
When the area was devastated by hurricanes, we instinctively aligned our resources with community needs, opening our doors to relocate events from facilities damaged by the storm, ensuring 7,000 graduates had a place to celebrate. Our staff brought in food and clothing for displaced residents from a nearby apartment complex that was underwater and the hall became a drop-off collection site for local charities. Meanwhile St. Petersburg-native, comedian Bert Kreisher hosted a sold-out hurricane relief concert on our stage to benefit Metropolitan Ministries. As a performing arts organization, we pondered what else can we do? So we gave away hundreds of tickets to first responders, power linesmen, and out-of-work hospitality workers, providing an evening of respite during weeks of recovery. We breathed a sigh of relief that with minimal damage to our buildings, at least our community could still find a little joy within our walls.
On the evolving edge of our education programming, we continued to overcome a myriad of barriers serving students of all ages and abilities. It can require creating adaptive programs, investing in specialized training, or securing additional underwriting to provide supplies and teacher wages. Financial support from members, sponsors, and grantors make it possible and 2025 was no exception. For the second year, we brought music and drama instruction to a partner school, modified to meet the needs of dyslexic students. As part of our Raymond James Presents: Middle School Arts program, we commissioned a piece featuring dancers with physical disabilities, challenging assumptions about limitations, and reframing our perceptions of others.
These are just a few ways the mission unfolds between rock concerts, and they can be just as powerful as a fanatic crowd of 8,000 dancing in unison (which I witnessed at a recent T-Pain show). As our team looks back on what was a very successful year according to industry standards, perhaps what mattered most was being a caring neighbor, a community partner, a committed educator, an advocate for the underserved, and a welcoming host.
It takes a village to champion the arts. Thank you for being part of ours.

Over 176,000 attendees had much to choose from, including comics Jerry Seinfeld and Jeff Acuri, songwriter/storytellers Lyle Lovett and Burton Cummings, and engrossing performances by Dancing with the Stars and Cirque Musica. A new series, the Matinee Collection was introduced to serve wider audiences with wallet-friendly offerings. The world-class Florida Orchestra hosted Wicked superstar Cynthia Erivo for a standing-room-only crowd. The International Entertainment Buyers Association announced their membership had voted Ruth Eckerd Hall “Theater of the Year” claiming the top spot after being honored as a runner-up the prior year. The iconic venue is well known industry-wide for its warm hospitality, nearperfect acoustics, and enthusiastic audiences.
THE ICONIC VENUE IS WELL KNOWN INDUSTRY-WIDE FOR ITS WARM HOSPITALITY, NEAR-PERFECT ACOUSTICS, AND ENTHUSIASTIC AUDIENCES.

The historic jewel of Clearwater’s downtown was a hub of activity with podcasters, songwriters, comics, GRAMMY® winners, and musicians of all genres taking the stage at the Nancy & David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre. With something for everyone, one out of four shows sold out, including Samara Joy, Keb’ Mo’, Marty Stuart and Dweezil Zappa. In March, Larry the Cable Guy returned with technicians in tow, recording back-to-back shows for his latest comedy special to be aired for a national audience. Since its 2013 restoration, the venue has hosted over 1,300 events while consistently ranked in the top 10 on industry charts.

THE HISTORIC JEWEL OF CLEARWATER’S DOWNTOWN

In only its second full season, The BayCare Sound has already garnered national attention, named a finalist for Boutique Amphitheatre of the Year by the International Entertainment Buyers Association. With programming almost doubling from the prior year, over 222,000 concertgoers enjoyed colorful sunsets while listening to their favorite artists perform. In February, Of The Trees with its amazing pyrotechnic staging, introduced a new audience of Electronic Dance Music fans to the venue. Social media raved about the facility, proclaiming The BayCare Sound “THE place in Florida for EDM”. May welcomed over 6,000 Pinellas County High School students and St. Petersburg College graduates to cross the stage cheered on by friends and families. A week later, country phenomenon Old Dominion made their venue debut, breaking all attendance records.

IN ONLY ITS SECOND FULL SEASON, THE BAYCARE SOUND HAS ALREADY GARNERED NATIONAL ATTENTION

Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road brought a roster of top name entertainment across the region and beyond. Don Felder performed at the National Conference for Mayors in Tampa followed by Flo Rida later in the spring. Outdoor concerts at the Ft. Myers Caloosa Sound Amphitheater included Kenny G, .38 Special, and Little River Band in addition to shows at Chasco Festival, Curtis Hixon Park and Jannus Landing.

IMPACT*

Each year over 3,400 members, sponsors, donors, grantors, and volunteers contribute time, talent and treasure to close the financial gap. Their generosity ensures educational opportunities for underserved populations, accessibility to world-class entertainment at affordable prices, vibrant programming, and state-of-theart facilities.
In 2025, membership fees, corporate support, grants, and proceeds from the annual benefit “In the Air Tonight”, contributed $4M to the annual fund for supporting operations, education, and outreach. An additional $1M came from capital campaign and estate gifts, earmarked for future asset replacement.
Volunteers are an integral part of the organization’s success, welcoming and assisting guests, performing administrative tasks, participating in committee work, and ensuring mission-driven leadership by serving on the Board of Directors.
We are also grateful to the wider circle of community partners who welcome our teaching artists, students, and initiatives. Their open doors and advocacy provide the opportunity to bring art alive to individuals where they live, learn, and play. Under strategic stewardship, these collaborative efforts optimize the impact of each contributed dollar, expanding the reach and depth of the mission.
