WEEK-LONG CAMPS – FIVE DAYS OF FUN! For ages 5-7 and 8-10

uring our fun-filled, week-long drama camps, students will be introduced to the wonderful world of theater. Centered around a different theme each week, they will work together to write, design, rehearse and perform, an original play for family and friends by week’s end. All that is required is cooperation, innovation, and imagination!
SUPERHERO WEEK June 4-8, 9am-3pm $250 Heroes, villains and lots of capes! This week will focus on Incredible adventures and action-packed escapades. WIZARDS & WANDS June 11-15, 9am-3pm $250 Magic fills our halls with a week of witches and wizards casting their spells. Where will the Sorting Hat place you? INSTRUMENTAL JAZZ CAMP Ages: 11–14, $275 Class is limited to 30 participants June 4-8, 9am–4pm Performance on Friday, June 8th (time TBD) Spend a week with Master Teaching Artist and Hall of Fame musician, Frank Williams. Improve your skills and become a stronger musician! Areas covered will be jazz history, music theory and improvisation – plus workshops with guest artists. Participation in this camp ensures an invitation to join our prestigious jazz program in the fall.
TIP TAP TOES: DANCERS & SINGERS Ages: 6–10, $200 July 2-6, 9am–3pm, closed July 4 This week focuses on our younger singers and dancers in a “Showstoppers, Jr.” experience. It’s never too early to dance and sing!
C ANCE SHOWSTOPPERS Ages: 8–14, $250 July 16-20, 9am–4pm Performance on Friday, July 20th (time TBD) Sing, dance and see your name in lights! From Hamilton to Elphaba and “Galinda,” learn Broadway classics and put a new spin on the favorites from your playlist – don’t throw away your shot!

LIGHT SABER COMBAT
Ages: 13-18, $350 June 4-16, 9am–4pm A wronged wizard is out for revenge! One of Shakespeare’s most exciting and magical plays comes to life on stage in the Murray Theatre. Students will learn how to break down Shakespeare’s text in a way that is not only accessible, but fun. This class will culminate with a full, ticketed production of this beloved classic. Ages: 11–14, $250 June 18-22, 9am–3pm Have you ever pretended to fight with a light saber? Well then, this is the camp for you! Develop techniques that make stage combat safe for the actors...and thrillingly realistic for the audience. We will use these techniques to create a fightfilled performance that demonstrates the art of stage combat!

Join Belle, the Beast and all their pals as they go on the adventure of a lifetime! *Due to performing under black light, performance day clothing requirements are as follows: long sleeved black shirt, black pants, and black socks OR shoes. Ages: 11-14 $350 June 18-29, 9am – 4pm Performances: Thursday, June 28, 2pm & 7pm - Friday, June 29, 7pm in the Murray Theatre Work, work! Join us for a two week, summer-stock-style journey in creating an original Broadway musical review. Sing, dance, act and follow in the footsteps of Lin-Manuel and Idina! Strut your stuff in the Murray Theatre and prepare to be Broadway bound! Placement auditions will be held on the first day of camp.

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenthcentury London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun! Many talented actors fail to book, get callbacks or even get an agent because they don’t know how to audition. Knowing what to expect and more importantly knowing how to prepare will make all the difference!

ON-CAMERA: ACTING 101 Ages: 8-10, $200 July 2-6, 9am–3pm, closed July 4 On-Camera Acting 101 includes all the basic tools of the best professional actors: improvisation, character development, script development, the audition process and camera technique. • You will learn memorization and imagination techniques which enhance other aspects of your life as well, through creative ensemble games. • You will explore the best ingredients of great acting, including character development, urgency/ heightened energy, specificity, discovery and subtext, spontaneity, vulnerability and creating the space around you, along with the relationships with other actors/characters. • You will understand what “in the moment” means as an actor, learning to connect with other actors through improvisation and relationship building. • You will discover creativity, focus and imagination within yourself that you may not have realized was there, will be surrounded by a positive, supportive environment in which to make new friends and may even come away with that urge to explore a more professional path!

WHAT is the Project? This is a FREE intensive four week program including instruction, rehearsals and mentoring with award-winning artists, directors and composers. It offers talented youth in the area the chance to engage in musical workshops, songwriting courses, mentoring sessions, record the material they’ve written and perform their new work live. WHEN does the program take place? Project Tampa Bay will take place from July 9 to August 3, 2018 (various times each day). A formal student performance will take place on Friday, August 3 on a Ruth Eckerd Hall main stage for family, friends and fans. Students must participate in all four weeks of the program. WHO should apply? Talented high school and college students ages 14 – 21 are encouraged to apply. WHERE will this be held? The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall will house the program. WHY would this benefit me? • You will be working with professionals in the music industry. • You will broaden your musical and creative skills, while establishing relationships, increasing your self-esteem and developing entrepreneurial skills. • This is a highly selective and prestigious program. • Alumni of the Project will garner important connections to the music industry, colleges and the ability to continue to work with the project in future years. Past participants include local music sensations Ella Jet, Kayla Ember, The Young Something and The Ries Brothers, who have gone on to perform and open at events and concerts nationwide for Daughtry, Firefall and Chicago – as well as their own SOLD-OUT concerts at Ruth Eckerd Hall’s Murray Theatre.
