I am Rushit Vekariya, an architect from Surat, Gujarat, India. with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. Growing up in Surat, with roots in the rural areas of Saurashtra through my grandparents, I have experienced both heritage and modern infrastructure, which sparked my interest in how the built environment changes over me. My passion for art, culture, and design led me to pursue architecture, and now I want to deepen my knowledge by joining you .

TOURIST FACILITATION CENTRE

The exercise involved analyzing the urban framework of Dakor, Bharuch, Anand, and Godhra. Two sites were selected from each town. Programs were chosen based on context and user needs, reflecting each town’s unique urban characteristics and community requirements. This approach ensured relevant and context-sensitive urban planning solutions.

About the site

kheda, gujrat, india

Dakor, a prominent pilgrimage town, is characterized by its dense urban fabric centered around the sacred Ranchhodrai Temple. The town faces challenges like overcrowding, inadequate infrastructure, and preservation of heritage sites. Effective urban planning must address these issues while enhancing accessibility and facilities for the influx of pilgrims.

Dakor faces issues like inadequate recreation spaces, pedestrian-vehicular conflicts, and lack of designated parking, coupled with underutilized lakefront and low awareness of other temples. To address these, a pilgrimage circuit and designated cultural and tourist facilitation centers were proposed to manage crowds and enhance visitor experience.
