Like many businesses in Lincoln, my father derived our name from the ‘Lincoln Imp’, a stone carving found in Lincoln’s historic cathedral and founded Running Imp in 1988 as a ‘onestop-shop’ for event organisers. Little did he imagine that 38 years later it would have grown into the market leader in our field that it has today.

We specialise in bespoke medals and are the UK’s leading supplier delivering over 4 million medals worldwide each year, from village fun runs to some of the world’s greatest mass participation events including the TCS London Marathon and the AJ Bell Great North Run, however, no event is too large, but more importantly, too small

But we’re more than just a ‘one-stopshop’ for event organisers. We also specialise in supplying trophies, t-shirts, promotional items and clothing to clubs, schools, charities and organisations, and guarantee that we will not be beaten on price, quality or service.

We also care passionately about the environment and sustainability and can now offer 100% recycled medals, ribbons and pin badges and have installed 220 solar panels on our Jubilee House headquarters in Lincoln to become more eco-friendly, see below.

All our medals are made from environmentally friendly metals and we can now offer 100% recycled medals with RPET Ribbons and 100% recycled pin

Our ribbons are made with environmentally friendly non-toxic inks and we offer Recyclable Heat Transfer and Recyclable RPET Yarn Ribbons.

We also offer a recycling scheme for leftover metal medals after your event. They can be returned to us to be recycled with a metal recycling firm, European Metal Recycling Ltd, who we have a strong partnership with. We also offer wooden medals that are made from FSC 100% sustainable wood and samples can be sent upon request.

We’re also conscious of plastics, and are working on removing it from our products and offering alternatives that are made from recyclable material - such as our flag branding material and supplying wooden stakes as well as plastic stakes.

Tell us the shape, size, finish, ribbon detail, enamelling colours (if any), optional extras (if any) and date required by. Then send us a rough sketch of your medal design with your guidelines and any logos (if any) that you want incorporating. Alternatively, talk through your design idea with a member of our staff who will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

We will then submit a quotation for your approval based upon your specific requirements.

Once you have accepted our quotation, we will then provide you with medal artwork for approval within 3 to 4 working days.

Once you have approved your medal artwork, we will commence production and deliver within your requested timescale.

Delivery Charges

Orders will be sent via courier. Carriage charges are calculated by weight. NI, remote Scotland and UK offshore islands including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man will all incur a surcharge - see website for details.

Overdue Accounts

We reserve the right to charge interest at 8% over the Bank of England base rate on all late payments and recover any expenses incurred in the recovery of any debt.

Breakages and Claims

Claims must be received in writing within 24 hours of receipt of goods Always check the contents of your parcel(s) before signing the delivery note or sign Unchecked. We cannot accept responsibility for goods signed ‘in good condition’ if they are later found to be damaged.

Whilst every effort will be made to hold prices Throughout 2026, any unavoidable increases, due to Brexit or the US$ rate, will be notified at the time of ordering. We reserve the right to review and amend the prices at any time subject to changes in the market pricing.

Leftover Medals Ribbon Re-Assembly

For 2025 we are offering a cost effective way to update your medals in the event of cancellations, postponement or rebranding to save wastage and money. All of our ribbon re-assembly is done inhouse and we can offer both sewn on full colour double sided heat transfer printed ribbons, and clip-on options depending on your budget and style of medal. Medals are our passion and we hate to see them go to waste!

For a 5K Colour Run we would suggest a Colour Station at the Start, then at 1K, 2K, 3K, 4K and at the Finish. This though very much depends on your course as it might consist of multiple laps and the Start and Finish may be combined.

What if it gets in my eyes? Is the colour powder edible? Is the colour powder safe?

Our product is Non-Toxic and Non-Irritant to skin and conforms to EN71-3 Standards for a safe and fun event.

Just rinse with water and everything will be ok as our powder is non-toxic but for added eye protection we recommend wearing a pair of our sunglasses.

Yes it is. It is 100% safe to ingest but we advise you to wear it, not eat it!

Personal clean up operation

To get the colour powder out of hair and off skin it is best to do it whilst it is still dry. Shake it off first then just wash as normal and maybe repeat.
