RUI University is a multifaceted curriculum that promotes purposeful living. The program supports intellectual wellness by allowing residents to critically think and examine topics from a variety of disciplines. Residents engage with peers and visitors in discourse and work through questions collaboratively.

MUSIC & MEMORIES

Music and Memories is a special program that brings a portable record player into the facility, using music as a way to spark connection. Familiar songs often awaken meaningful memories, and participants are welcome to share stories, reflections, or simply enjoy listening. The program offers a relaxed, supportive space where music becomes a bridge to conversation and reminiscence

The Outreach Department at HCPL provides a variety of services to residents outside the library, particularly those facing physical, economic, social, geographic or other barriers to accessing library services. The most recognizable part of the Outreach Department is Mobile Library Service (formerly Bookmobile) Outreach services include early literacy opportunities for children, delivering library materials and programs to residents in retirement communities, representing HCPL at community events, and fostering community partnerships.

Melodies in Motion

Melodies in Motion is a dynamic therapeutic enrichment experience that brings music, movement, and meaning together. Each session blends upbeat, familiar songs with guided motions that encourage safe stretching, rhythmic swaying, clapping, and upper-body movement helping support strength, circulation, mood, and brain engagement Props and simple instruments add playful sensory stimulation, while themed backdrops transform the space into a fun, immersive environment that feels like a special event. As the session winds down, participants are invited into a brief reflective moment: often featuring soft lighting, candles, or a meaningful closing song, creating space for calm, connection, and emotional release Melodies in Motion doesn’t just entertain; it lifts spirits, sparks memories, and gently supports physical and emotional wellness in a way that feels joyful, dignified, and deeply enriching.

Dana holds a BS in psychology from Kean University and a Masters Degree in Applied Gerontology. She Later became a Certified Dementia Practitioner, deepening her commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults.

Fiesta Fun

Have you ever wanted to learn another language? Well, this is your chance! Join Senora Southhall for Spanish for Absolute Beginners during this class you will learn the language and information about the culture. This is a fun and interactive workshop!

Lorie Southhall is a graduate of James Madison University and the Univeristy of Valencia. She fell in love with teaching in 1976 and hasnt stopped teaching, even while raising 4 children. Over the years she has chaperoned hundreds of students as they traveled and studied in Spain and Mexico Although she is officially retired she is having a hard time leaving and now is working part time teaching spanish 4 and spanish 5 She estimates she has taught about 7,000 students. Her students say that senora southall is always positive and always enthusiastic. She loves to create fun and meaningful lessons and activities. She is passionate about her teaching and her students

Abundant Art is a creative and purposeful program designed to help participants create beautiful, professional-looking art that can be used to raise funds for the facility’s projects. Each session features a rotating selection of easy-to-do yet elegant art activities, such as flower arrangements, abstract painting, and mosaic tile wall art This program not only encourages artistic expression but also offers participants the opportunity to contribute to meaningful fundraising efforts through their creations.

Josh Urban is a speaker, musician, disk jockey, & musciologist. He's hosted radio and podcast programs, played and taught guitar professionally for nearly twenty years and is an enthusiastic collector of recordings from around the world

As an intuitive artist, musician, and death doula, Randi weaves expression, ritual, and meaningful engagement into daily life enrichment and end of life support He believes deeply in preserving identity, honoring personal history, and creating moments that feel purposeful and real. Randi's approach centers on dignity, connection, and the belief that very individual deserves to be seen and understood- not just care for, but known.

The Science of Scent

Mad Science Company is an educational enrichment provider based in Virginia, specializing in delivering hands-on science experiences They offer a variety of programs focusing on topics such as light sound, electricity, magnetism and robotics. Founded by Ariel & Ron Schlien in 1985.

Hello there! We are Sara and Brandon Snead, proud parents of four wonderful kids and enthusiastic explorers of the incredible world of reptiles.

Our reptile journey began with a single snake, sparking a fascination that has since grown into a thriving family of over a dozen diverse scaly friends. What started as a curiosity has transformed into a passion for learning everything there is to know about these remarkable creatures. We've enjoyed every moment of this learning journey, especially sharing our newfound knowledge with our children

Our excitement is so infectious that we've even helped friends and family overcome their perfectly understandable apprehensions about these creatures. There's nothing more gratifying than watching people interact with, and learn about, these fascinating animals, discovering things they never knew before
