RUI University is a multifaceted curriculum that promotes purposeful living. The program supports intellectual wellness by allowing residents to critically think and examine topics from a variety of disciplines. Residents engage with peers and visitors in discourse and work through questions collaboratively.

Marni Maree, a Strauss Fellowship recipient for Visual Arts, creates vibrant watercolors inspired by flowers, travel, and the joyful spirit of Haitian children. Art Therapy with Beth

First and Third Fridays at 10:30 AM

Enjoy a peaceful and engaging art experience designed for residents living with memory loss Guided by art therapist Beth Oliver, participants explore familiar colors, textures, and simple creative activities that spark recognition, lift mood, and support gentle connection. Whether painting, collaging, or simply enjoying the sensory experience, residents are invited to relax, engage, and experience moments of joy through creativity

Beth Oliver is an art therapist and founder of Mind Body Soul Art Therapy in Fairfax, Virginia. Trained at The George Washington University, she uses a gentle, neuroscience-informed approach to help individuals connect, express emotion, and find comfort through creativity Beth is passionate about supporting older adults and those living with memory change, offering warm, thoughtful guidance that encourages confidence, calm, and meaningful self-expression.

Annamarie Mariani-Huehn is a senior living executive and engaging presenter known for bringing warmth, storytelling, and connection into every room With 20+ years in senior living leadership, she also shares interactive tea experiences as a Tea Guide and Storyteller blending culture, legends, and specialty teas into a memorable program.

Nightingales Choir Rehearsal

Join professional vocalist Dianna Povolotskaya for an uplifting and engaging beginner choir experience! Designed for all skill levels, this class focuses on building vocal confidence, improving technique, and exploring the joy of group singing. With expert guidance, participants will learn warm-ups, breathing exercises, and harmonization while singing a variety of songs in a supportive and fun environment No prior experience is needed just bring your enthusiasm and love for music!

Diana Povolotskaya grew up in Moscow, Russia where she learned to be a professional classical singer. Diana traveled the world, singing in many countries, including South America, China and Japan. In 1992 Diana immigrated to the United States with her parents where she continued her career as professional classical singer After living 20 years in Tucson, Arizona where Diana raised her three children, she and her husband George Hanson moved to Virginia in 2019. Diana is a very passionate artist and loves working with the seniors. “Music is a very powerful tool. It’s so good for the memory, heart and soul. Making music together brings so much love, smiles and joy!

Guided by a board-certified music therapist, familiar songs, gentle rhythm, and calming sensory elements help spark memories, reduce anxiety, and create moments of joy and connection Residents may sing along, tap to the beat, or simply relax and enjoy the music

NeuroSound Music Therapy brings board-certified, evidence-based music therapy to senior living communities across Northern Virginia. Their clinicians use live music, rhythm, movement, and reminiscence to encourage emotional well-being, cognitive engagement, and joyful connection for residents of all abilities. Through personalized and uplifting sessions, NeuroSound helps residents experience comfort, creativity, and meaningful interaction through music.
