Special Olympics Spring Games a Day to Remember

The Spring Games at Elon University's Schar Center was filled with proud moments for all who participated. Athletes showcased their skills in events like the softball throw, long jump, and relay races

Volunteers joined in the excitement alongside the athletes, while guests filled the stands with cheers and encouragement. Ralph Scott group homes were proudly represented, with enthusiastic staff and family members showing strong support throughout the day

We look forward to next year!

Tournament and Golf Ball Drop a Hole-in-One Success!

Thank you to all of our sponsors, teams, volunteers, and supporters who made this year’s Helicopter Ball Drop and Par for a Purpose Golf Tournament a fantastic success!

We kicked off the day at I-85 Golf with our first-ever Helicopter Ball Drop Raffle, where two lucky winners made a hole-in-one and three more tied for third place what an exciting start!

That afternoon, we teed off at Mill Creek Golf Club and were honored to welcome Long Drive Pro Beau Blair with Charity Golf International, who joined us on a Par 5 and helped raise over $5,300 at that hole alone. We are happy to share that the day's events brought in over $37,000 in support.

All proceeds from the tournament will support the creation of a fully accessible outdoor area at the StarPoint Day Program that will include walking paths, wheelchair swings, gardening beds, a gazebo and natural areas creating a more inclusive outdoor experience for everyone we serve

Congratulations to all of the winning teams and contest winners on a great day of golf!

Take Us Out to the Ball Game!

A group from the StarPoint Day Program had a fantastic time cheering on the Durham Bulls and celebrating a win! One lucky fan even caught a t-shirt to take home as a souvenir.

Outings like this are more than just fun they foster social inclusion, build life skills, raise community awareness, and promote independence and confidence.

Thanks to your support, experiences like these are made possible!

“There are not enough words to say how much it has meant to me and my family that my son has been taken care of for 46 years with much love and compassion.” ~ Patricia, parent

In the Spotlight

We are all so proud of the hard work and dedication shown by the individuals we serve as they strive to build skills and work toward their goals. This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Sheree, who truly sets an inspiring example.

Sheree approaches each day with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. She eagerly participates in activities, outings, and special events, and never misses a chance to ask staff what’s on the schedule as she arrives each morning with a smile. Sheree tackles her goals head-on, always ready for the next task. Her kindness and thoughtfulness toward others are evident in everything she does.

You’ll always find Sheree in the spotlight during the talent show and Christmas concert, where she loves entertaining the crowd. Her heartfelt and emotional performances often have the audience on their feet, clapping and singing along. In addition to her love for music, she enjoys crafts and finds joy in connecting with animals during pet therapy sessions

We’re proud to celebrate Sheree’s many talents and the energy and positivity she brings to Ralph Scott Lifeservices!
