Wishing You a Season of Peace & Joy

Dear Friends,

As the holiday season approaches, we find ourselves reflecting on all the moments that made this year so special and on the generosity that made them possible.

Because of your continued support, individuals at Ralph Scott Lifeservices experienced a year filled with friendship, laughter, and enriching experiences. Whether it was reeling in their first catch during our fall fishing trip, making memories at our holiday dances, or celebrating with peers at the Fall for All Adaptive & Inclusive Festival gifts like yours made these moments possible.

The Valentine’s Dance kicked off the New Year with what we love most dancing, singing, and enjoying time together! These events offer a special opportunity for individuals from all 15 group homes to come together for meaningful connection, plenty of fun, and lots of smiles. These celebratory occasions bring so much joy for the individuals as well as the staff who support them.

In the spring, the excitement continued as more than 60 individuals from Ralph Scott Lifeservices participated in the Special Olympics Spring Games at Elon University. We couldn’t be prouder of our athletes and look forward to this inspiring event each year. We’re truly grateful for our supportive community, whose dedication makes opportunities like this and so many other meaningful activities and events for the IDD community possible.

Thanks to your generosity, excursions such as our day of fishing continue to be outings everyone looks forward to each year. This year we spent the day at the beautiful Guilford Mackintosh Park, enjoying a cookout, bank fishing and just relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors together.

Best of all, the park’s accessible shelter and shoreline ensured that everyone of all abilities could fully participate and enjoy the activities. Outings like this offer a refreshing change of scenery and opportunities for shared experiences.

The Fall for All Adaptive & Inclusive Festival, hosted by Ralph Scott Lifeservices, made its debut this year and is sure to become a beloved annual tradition. Open to the entire community and designed especially for people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the festival offered accessible games, crafts, entertainment, and engaging Drums Alive sessions tailored for participants of all abilities.

More than 35 volunteers including members of the Burlington Youth Council, students from Elon University, and representatives from organizations supporting individuals with IDD, along with our dedicated staff helped create a joyful and welcoming atmosphere. The day was made even more special by talented vendors who showcased and sold their own handmade products.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, whose support made this inaugural event possible. Thanks to you, we look forward to growing and expanding the Fall for All Adaptive & Inclusive Festival in the years ahead!

If you are interested in volunteering or supporting this event next year, please let us know.

We are thrilled to officially launch the Reach for the Stars Campaign, an initiative to support the expansion and enhancement of the outdoor space at the StarPoint Day Program. This long-awaited project will create fully accessible outdoor areas that allow individuals of all abilities the freedom to enjoy nature something many of us take for granted, yet is vital to physical health, emotional well-being, and quality of life.

With accessible pathways, raised garden beds, covered seating, wheelchair swing, and thoughtfully designed recreation spaces, this transformative project will open up new possibilities for people of all abilities.

Grants from the City of Burlington, Impact Alamance, and New Leaf Society, along with generous donations from people like you, have helped pave the way toward making this vision a reality. While there’s still more work ahead to bring the full vision to life, your support keeps us moving forward together, we are well on our way.

To wrap up this incredible year, we invite you to join us for the annual Sounds of the Season Christmas concert on December 16 at 4pm - Westside Fellowship, Elon. This heartwarming event is sure to lift your spirits as individuals from StarPoint shine bright and share some holiday cheer.

We can’t wait to share our progress with you from upcoming projects to the lasting impact your partnership and support make in the lives of those we serve.

Sincerely,

Thank you!

P.S. Your tax-deductible gift will immediately support the individuals we serve. You can also visit www.rsli.org and click on the DONATE button to make a secure online gift today.
