Licentiate and Associate Advisory Day We are hosting a Licentiate & Associate Advisory Day in Birdham Village Hall. Spectators can book a place here Those requiring Licentiate and Associate advice can book a place here
The Associate advisor is a member of the Contemporary Distinction Panel so the Advisory Day is especially interesting to members, and non-members wishing to gain an Associate distinction in the Contemporary genre. It is, of course, open to those wishing to get advice on other distinction genres, but you will need to follow the Associate guidance on the RPS website.
2. Night Owls Success
Earlier in the year our Salisbury based Event Organiser, Paul Rigg, devised and coordinated a WhatsApp group known as the Southern Region Night Owls – Night Owls for short. Night photography can be a lonely and, potentially, worrying to be out on your own. Paul is a night photography enthusiast and he thought he would like to do something about that. The principal of this group is to bring a number of like-minded members (and nonmembers alike) together to enjoy night [sky] photography in the region. Why WhatsApp? Night photography is entirely dependent on cloudless skies to be able to see and photograph the moon and the stars, star trails, light-painting, etc. As weather conditions can be changeable, the only way to organise group photography at short notice is through social-media or messaging app. Paul opted for the messaging app method to be able to achieve best connection with interested people.
We sent out a broadcast calling on interested people to contact Paul, which they did, and the rest is history. Groups have got together following a call-out on WhatsApp and have enjoyed several nights under the stars practicing their art. The group is open to night photography enthusiasts and beginners in the Southern Region, and if you think you would like to get involved, or give it a go please contact Paul via email, at paulrigg@outlook.com, and he will register you on the group.

OPEN CALL ONLINE EXHIBITION SELFIES: Women in Photography

The RPS WIP Group are asking all female and female identifying photographers to step out from behind the lens in celebration and recognition of the talente d women in our profession. You do not need to be a m e m b e r o f t h e R P S t o p a r t i c i p a t e.
The SELFIES: Women in Photography online exhibition will run from 15 June to 31 July, 2022 from a virtual
gallery. Entries open through 9pm GMT on 30 April, 2022. Limit e d t o two (2) entries per photographer. Click HERE for more information and to enter.
