1. Introduction

Welcome to this edition of May 2026. Here are the headlines:

RPS SE unique access to British Wildlife Centre (includes light lunch)

The British Wildlife Centre event was sold out last year and proved to be a great day with amazing opportunities to photograph so many animals. With the services of an experienced keeper, you will go inside the enclosures of foxes, otters and wildcats when they come to be fed, photographing from only a few feet away with no barriers, and against a natural background. The group is limited to ten, so there is never someone in your way.

I said last newsletter that the Reculver at sunset event took place in thick mist. Nevertheless, there were some ﬁne images which you can see in this newsletter at the beginning if you are reading it on ISSUU. You will also see the favourites from the Bluebell photographers just two weeks ago.

2. What has happened in the SE region since the last newsletter

The online advisory day held in March went very well, with special thanks to Stuart Wall, the advisor. I am sure that his help on the day was a major step forward for people working towards their LRPS. We do intend to run this again next year.

The bluebells were early this year probably due to the wet but mild January – March, so I brought the date forward by one week. Sorry if this messed people up, but fortuitously the weather was excellent, and our favourite photos reflect a great morning of photography.

3. News in the region

I am using this space to issue a plea for volunteers to come onto the committee. Bring your ideas and enthusiasm and plan for the future of the RPS SE. Get involved with us and help suggest, run events like the ones talked about in this newsletter. Just email me.

Based at the British Wildlife Centre, Lingfield. A great opportunity to photograph native British wild animals up close. The price is very competitive, as it is only for this group, with no public, making it an excellent opportunity for photographers.
