Introduction Welcome to this December 2025 edition of our newsletter. I mentioned Storm Amy ushering in Autumn last time. Now Storm Bram is making life hard in the north and Scotland. You won’t have to suffer harsh overhead sunlight at least! There are no photos this month. I promise to show the best of the Xmas walk around Canterbury. Our star attraction for early 2026 is a visit to Biggin Hill Airport to see the factory in action renovating Spitfires. !!!!!!!!!!Highly Photogenic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have been planning the season of 2026. This newsletter is our planned programme with 4 events you can book now.

What has happened in the SE region since the last newsletter The Bewl Water event proposed in conjunction with the Landscape Group did not happen as no one signed up for it. My view is that we need to advertise more to the SE region with greater notice. We have an event in December (see below).

News in the region The distinctions framework is going to be subject to a lot of discussion for some time. One key principle is not to upset those members who are just about to embark on a distinction or are in the middle of one.

Finalised and planned events – click to look at details and book Sunday, December 14, 2025 Click Event: A Tour of Canterbury ending at the Xmas Market with the RPS SE This is a click event with a tour of the photogenic parts of Canterbury, ending up at their Xmas market at dusk. This event will be finished by the time you read this newsletter. Sunday, February 1, 2026 AGM for 2025 Planned to be an online meeting Thursday, February 19, 2026 Tour of Biggin Hill Museum Biggin Hill offers tours around their museum/workshop where there are numbers of Spitfires actively being worked on. This is a private tour for the RPS only, giving you an amazing opportunity to photograph working Spitfires whilst undergoing repair.
RPS SE Region December 2025 Newsletter Sunday, March 8, 2026 Click event: Sunset at Reculver The ruins and sea are very photogenic, especially at high tide and with long exposures. The date and time have been chosen to coincide with the tides. According to GROK, high tide is i840 and the sunset is 1800. It is spring tide also. Friday, March 27, 2026 LRPS distinction online advisory day We are fortunate to have secured the services of Stewart Wall, an experienced assessor for this advisory day. Book early as places are limited. Thursday, July 9, 2026 British Wildlife Centre- sorry, no link yet Based at the British Wildlife Centre, Lingfield. A great opportunity to photograph native British wild animals up close. The price is very competitive, as it is only for this group, making it an excellent opportunity for photographers. The date is now fixed and the venue booked Friday, April 24, 2026 Click event: Hole Park (Bluebells)- sorry, no link yet Hole Park Estate is situated between the pretty Kent villages of Benenden and Rolvenden and a short distance from the historic Cinque Port town of Tenterden in a beautiful area of the High Weald National Landscape (formerly AONB). Sunday, May 24, 2026 Click event: Samphire Hoe (Orchids)- sorry, no link yet Orchids are the main attraction on this outcrop generated from Channel Tunnel spoil. Sunday, June 21, 2026 Click event: Whitstable beach and town walk- sorry, no link yet Oyster beds, the harbour and the town itself are all very photogenic. Have you seen Whitstable Pearl on TV? Friday, July 24, 2026 Click event: Sissinghurst Gardens- sorry, no link yet One of the most known gardens in Kent. Sunday, September 13, 2026 Click event: St Pancras, London Street Photography - sorry, no link yet Join us on a walk around this gentrified area of London. There is so much to photograph. Saturday, September 19, 2026 Motorcycle grass track racing click event- sorry, no link yet This is a new idea that may well move over into 2027.
