RPS Contemporary North West Punk Rebellion Festival - Blackpool - August 7th 2026

Every year since 1997 The Rebellion Festival has taken place in Blackpool Winter Gardens featuring Punk Bands old and new, and this year’s event, the thirtieth edition, took place from the 6th to 9th August. Each year the town centre is crowded with a colourful array of Mohawks and colourful spiked hairstyles and traditional Punk clothes.

Though photography isn’t permitted in the venue there’s much activity in the surrounding streets and squares and so I called for members from the NW to join me for a fun Friday. Despite the previous day’ regional rail disruption, eight members managed to travel to Blackpool to meet in the Hive cafe; mostly familiar faces but introducing Tony Nicholls who joined us from the North Lakes area. Welcome Tony, we hope we’ll see you again. Despite appearances to the contrary, Punks are a really friendly bunch and willingly allowed set up shots and classic Street Photography approaches. The weather was kind to us and though that caused some bright highlights we all managed to capture a good selection of images. I am grateful to Paul Cayton who has created this zine.
