Martin has been creating AVs since 1977, starting with a two slide projection system, then moving to four projectors.

For many years his slide AVs were presented with two friends, Clive and Malcolm Haynes and under the name ʻThree Part Inventionʼ. These were presented very widely throughout the UK up to 1999.

Since then he has created AVs digitally. using ProShow Producer for most of that time and more recently using DaVinci Resolve.

The majority of Martinʼs AVs are inspired by his photography and are in the ʻMusic, Poetry and Songʼ category.

A changing selection of AVs created digitally, all containing top quality photography with appropriate music. Mainly in the ʻMusic, Poetry and Songʼ category.

• Creating an AV using DaVinci Resolve

A demonstration on how to use DaVinci Resolve for creating AVs. This is part demonstration and part showing a selection of AVs

Ian Bateman FRPS MPAGB AV-EFIAP APAGB

Ian Bateman

FRPS

Ian has been creating AV sequences since the 1980s, initially on a slide/tape system before moving to digital in the early 2000s.

He was the first person to achieve a Fellowship of the RPS with a digitally projected application, and also the first person to achieve an MPAGB with digitally projected AVs.

He has lectured and judged extensively in the UK and abroad, including France, Ireland, The Netherlands and Australia.

His catalogue includes a wide variety of styles, covering documentary, humour, travel, and photo harmony.

Adrian Battersby

ARPS DPAGB/AV

Adrian originally got into AV in the 1980ʼs.

He has been fortunate to win many awards in AV Competitions across the globe, including the gold medal in a South African international and several bronze medals at national and international level. He has achieved an ARPS and DPAGB, both with AV.

He tries to produce something different with each new AV so there is “something for everyone”. and particularly enjoys incorporating complex soundtracks to hold the attention.

When Adrian presents a talk, he only shows his best work, and all his productions are in 4k quality.

Presentations:

Adrian normally talks about making an AV in the first half (two versions, one for camera clubs, the other for AV groups); he then shows a selection of his best AVs in the second half.

If needed, Adrian can bring his own 4k projector and high-quality sound system, plus a microphone for larger groups.

Keith Brown

FRPS MPAGB APAGB EFIAP FIPF

and in memory of Kate Brown. LRPS DPAGB.

Keith became interested in AV in 1977 ‒ he recognised that the components within AV provided a wonderful enhancement to his growing love of still photography.

Keith received an APAGB for services to photography and the Dobson Henry Medal for services to Audio Visual. He has been Chairman of the RPS AV Group and is a past member of the RPS Multimedia panel.

Kate became interested in photography in her early twenties. She joined photographic societies after she met Keith and loved AV from the first time she saw it. Kate was awarded LRPS for stills and also DPAGB for Audio Visual.

Both Keith and Kate loved presenting their AV show all over the country and then very sadly Kate died in 2020. However, Keith still likes to present their joint show; preserving her memory through AVs.

“Face the Music” - Choosing music for our AVs was very important for us ‒ pop, classical, folk, film music -all are demonstrated in a variety of AV styles.

Jill Bunting

CPAGB/AV LACI

Jill has been involved with AV since the late 1980ʼs, winning awards for her work both in Slide/Tape and Digital. She was the first person to gain the CPAGB/AV when the distinctions were introduced in 1995.

She was joint Editor of the RPS 'AV News' Magazine for 7 years from 2008. In 2019 she was honoured to receive the Dobson Henry Medal for Outstanding Contributions to AV.

Jill is well known in the AV world as a speaker and judge and is considered an expert in using PTE AV Studio. She enjoys all genres of AV and is keen to encourage others to take up this Art Form.

Martin Fry

FRPS FBPE EFIAP/d3 AV-EFIAP/b APAGB

Martinʼs passion for AV stems from his love of photography and combining images, in particular the ʻmagicalʼ third image. He gained his Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society using 4 projectors and since the digital age has developed this art form. He feels audio-visual is such a creative medium, giving the image maker the freedom to express ideas, share experiences or communicate a message through vision and sound.

Martin has won major awards in AV Festivals throughout the world as well as numerous FIAP awards for his images in 32 different countries. He has lectured to over 300 clubs across Britain in AV and is well known as an international judge in all areas of photography and been a member of both the RPS and PAGB AV distinction panels. He is a recipient of the RPS Dobson Henry Medal for Services to AV.

Andrew Gagg ARPS

Andrew N Gagg

FRPS

An Art and Design graduate, Andrew first lectured in a School of Art, later designing for live theatre, followed by twenty years as a Production Designer for BBC TV.

A photographer since the age of ten, he was the founder of the still-flourishing AV Group of the Worcestershire Camera Club.

Much-travelled, he has created successful AV sequences on a wide range of topics.

Typography and graphic design are among his many interests and he is Design Consultant for AV News magazine and AV World. His most recent AV experiments exploit the potential of AI created images.

Sheila Haycox ARPS, MPAGB/AV, AV-AFIAP, EFIAP

Sheila started creating Avs in 2004 starting with family outings using Pictures to Exe.

She soon expanded her productions and started entering competitions nationally and internationally which have been well received gaining several awards.

She is known for her fictional stories but also produces documentaries, humour, nature, sport plus poetry and song AVs.

Although Sheila puts together a programme of what she expects to show she often encourages the audience to let her know what they would like to see as she has varied genres in her collection of work.

John has been involved in photography for at least 50 years. Presently Immediate past President of Smethwick Photographic Society, former Chairman of Wolverhampton Photographic Society and also the Worcestershire Audio Visual Group now unfortunately curtailed.

He has produced the Audio Visual presentation of the accepted images for the SPS International Exhibition for at least the last 12 years.

Presentations:

Johnʼs presentations are all on USB sticks and therefore he relies on the club in question to provide screen, laptop, projector and sound.

He always tries to entertain his audiences by integrating pictures, narrative and music.

Malcolm Imhoff

Malcolm is an experienced and prolific producer of AVs having been making Audio Visual programmes for forty years. He enjoys communicating his interests in travel, landscapes, mountaineering, and music.

He is passionate about the power of AV, and is keen to encourage others in the medium.

He has received much recognition in both National and International Festivals, and has won very many awards for his work.

Malcolm is fully conversant with all aspects of AV production and all types of Audio Visual sequences, including Music, Poetry and Song.

John Perriman

ARPS DPAGB AFIAP

John has been making AV sequences on and off since the 1980ʼs although he has always been predominantly a stills photographer and creator in numerous genres. However, this has enabled him to make numerous AVʼs covering a very wide range of subjects.

Many have won awards but their main purpose is for entertainment. Most are limited in length to under 5 minutes.

Some have narration whilst others fall into the Music, Poetry and song or Photo Harmony categories.

“Johnʼs AV Variety Show”

Topics covered include: Landscape, Documentary, Sci Fi, Creative, Street Photography, Sport, Abstract and more (they can also be combined with stills talks). Audiences can also make choices from the on-screen menu which consists of enough for more than 2 visits.

Mike Pill

ARPS, DPAGB/AV

Mike has been a photographer for many years, having been taught the basics of printing and photography by his Dad when he was a teenager.

His ARPS from the RPS was in Visual Arts with a panel of monochrome prints. He has been a keen AV worker for many years, although its only since he went digital in around 2005 that his interest in AV has grown significantly and has since overshadowed his stills work.

He was awarded his CPAGB in AV in 2019 and then was awarded his DPAGB in AV in 2022. He is a member of the Wilmslow AV group and also the Heswall Photographic Society on the Wirral, where he is also their AV organiser. His AVs tend to be based on poems or short stories which he both writes and voices.

Presentations:

• How to make an AV, concentrating on the process rather than the software with examples. I am happy to answer questions about that using PTE software.

• My journey to my DPAGB/AV award. A compendium of AVs that led up to my successful DPAGB award in AV.

• The images that lead to an AV. Showing and talking about some of the images and the background to making some of my AVʼs, that have won awards in national and International salons. (a new talk for 2025)

I am able to provide high quality sound equipment suitable for groups of up to about 30 attendees but will require use video projector (with HDMI input) of at least HD quality.

Alastair Taylor

ARPS DPAGB/AV AV-AFIAP

Alastair has been successful in the world of AV with various distinctions and awards in AV festivals and competitions within the UK and internationally.

He loves making documentaries and likes to tell the story with a personal touch and where possible a surprise at the end. He has travelled in Africa a great deal so many of his AV productions have an African twist.

He is past editor of the RPS AV News journal and has judged various competitions. He runs the RPS National AV Championships and in 2025, the International AV Festival, both prestigious events.

Peter Warner

ARPS (in Multi-media and Visual Art)

Peter has been making AVs for over ten years and sees it as a great way of sharing the images he takes.

He sees making AVs as a great progression for stills photographers enabling them to share their images with a much wider audience, either live or online.

Peter produces a variety of sequences from gritty photo-harmonies to personal documentaries aimed at a variety of audiences e.g. friends & family, websites, weddings as well as competitions.
