Member-led Event Linlithgow 2nd May 2025 Linlithgow is an ancient town on the historic route between the major medieval power centres of Stirling and Edinburgh. During the medieval period the town grew in prominence as a royal burgh when King David I established a royal residence as a stopover from travelling. It proved popular with royals because of the clean air and pleasant scenery around the loch. Famed as the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, she was baptised in St Michael's Church a few days after her birth in 1542.
