1 Transit Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s longterm renovation has started. During this Transit period, institutions and museums across Rotterdam will be holding exhibitions with works of art from the museum collection under the title ‘Boijmans Next Door’. The collection will also be travelling to some of the world’s top museums. In the meantime, construction of the Depot continues apace and this landmark is set to open in 2021.

Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen It is the first depot in the world that provides access to a complete collection without the intervention of a curator. The 40-metre high, mirrored building is a design from the Rotterdam architect Winy Maas from MVRDV and offers a beautiful, panoramic view of the city and the port from the freely accessible roof garden with restaurant.

2 Kunsthal Rotterdam The Kunsthal Rotterdam is housed in a striking building designed by OMA/ Rem Koolhaas (1992). The Kunsthal presents several exhibitions simultaneously, taking visitors on a journey through various cultures and art movements from modern masters and contemporary art to forgotten cultures, photography, fashion and innovative design.
Thierry Mugler: Couturissime This major exhibition reveals the multiple universes of Thierry Mugler – visionary couturier, director, photographer and perfumer – in a retrospective of his work, especially his ready-to-wear and haute couture creations. Until 8 March 2020

4 Nederlands Fotomuseum With its impressive collection of more than 5,000,000 photos, the Nederlands Fotomuseum is the national museum of photography in the Netherlands. The collection comprises an important part of the Netherlands’ visual heritage.
Attack | Katrien De Blauwer Attack is the first exhibition by Belgian artist Katrien De Blauwer presented in the Netherlands. De Blauwer has been working on a large and powerful oeuvre of photomontages over the course of the last twenty years. De Blauwer cuts images from old international magazines on impulse, which she then intuitively combines to create a new image. Until 9 February 2020

Rotterdam’s Studio Secrets The exhibition spotlights six historic artists: Hendrick Sorgh, Pieter de Hooch, Nicolaes Muys, George Breitner, Kees van Dongen and Dolf Henkes. Their lives and work paint a picture of the history of Rotterdam. The Destroyed City by Ossip Zadkine The sculpture (1953) represents a distressed figure with its head and arms lifted skywards. The hole in the figure’s torso symbolises the destroyed heart of the city after the bombings of 14 May 1940. 14
