National roads in County Roscommon are set to benefit from over €94m in funding for maintenance, renewal and repair works in 2026. A figure of €94,647,130 has been confirmed. The allocation forms part of a wider national announcement confirming €1.5 billion in funding to local authorities for national, regional and local roads this year – a 13% increase on 2025. Of the overall package, €800m will be spent on national roads, including €659m in exchequer capital funding through Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), €104m for national roads under Public Private Partnerships, and approximately €33m for regular national road maintenance, provided to local authorities. A further €718m allocation for regional and local roads will allow approximately 2,800km of roads to be maintained and 2,330km to be improved. Welcoming the Roscommon national roads allocation, Senator Gareth Scahill said he was “delighted to see that €94,647,130 has been allocated to Roscommon County Council for essential national road repair works across the county”, adding that road-user safety remains a key priority.
