THE STEEPLE CENTER Welcome readers to the “News from the Steeple Center”, a publication for 55 plus/seniors in the Rosemount community. The Steeple Center houses the majority of the programs and events for those 55 plus. Programs are offered by the City of Rosemount Parks & Recreation Department.

Rosemount Area Seniors Information
Monthly Luncheon* Tuesday, October 6 Register By: September 29 $15 for members/$17 for non-members 11:30am Lunch 12:15pm Entertainment Assembly Hall Join us for a delicious lasagna meal catered by House of Coates. The after lunch entertainment will be Card Bingo! Please bring 3 nickels, 3 dimes, 3 quarters, and a $1 bill for antes. Pre-registration and payment is required. Thursday, October 15, 6:30pm Knowledgeable players of all ages are welcome. Registration begins 15 minutes prior to scheduled start time. The cost is $1, which is used as prize money.

Coffee Cup Reminder As a reminder, we have phased out use of disposable coffee cups at the Steeple Center. While we continue to offer ceramic mugs and plastic cups, you are encouraged to bring in your own coffee mugs and water bottles!
Flu Shots Tuesday, October 6 10:00—11:30am Steeple Center Lobby Cub Pharmacy staff will be on site to administer flu vaccinations before the luncheon! These are covered by Medicare Part B and most insurance plans, so please bring your cards.

Craft Supplies Swap Meet Tuesday, September 22, 9:00am-3:00pm Cost: FREE Steeple Center, Assembly Hall Are you drowning in leftover craft supplies but don’t know what to do with them? Are you in the market for some free supplies to round out your craft closet? If you answered yes to either of these questions, come to our second annual Craft Supplies Swap Meet! You can drop off your no longer needed supplies between September 14-18 at the Steeple Center (M-TH 8:30am-3:30pm, F 8:30am12pm), and then come “shop” on Tuesday, September 22. All items will be free! Registration is not required.

Wednesday, September 9th, 10am Register by: September 2nd Cost: FREE Steeple Center, Room 200 Local author Peggy Scholberg will talk about her book, “Girls in a World at War” about her mother’s experience in the Army overseas in WWII. The book offers a unique female perspective on WWII, filled with resilience, humor and poignant moments. Peggy will share stories, insights, and experiences from her writing journey, followed by an opportunity to meet the author and learn more about her books.

Friday, October 16, 10:00am “The Collected Regrets of Clover” by Mikki Brammer Calling all book lovers! We are partnering up with the Robert Trail Library to offer a book club right here at the Steeple Center. There is no cost, and no need to register.
Tuesdays: October 6—27 Thursdays: October 1—22 1:00-2:00pm Register By: 1 WEEK Prior to Session Cost: $30/session (4 classes) Join instructors Stacey Popp (Tuesdays) and Lori Kampa (Thursdays) for this 50+ yoga class. Proper breathing and gentle postures will be taught to enhance strength and mobility. Chairs are available and can be used to adapt poses for your comfort. The class environment will help promote peaceful, joyful and healthy individuals. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats.

You’ll move through a slow, meditative stretching practice designed to support joint health, ease stiffness, and help you move more comfortably in daily life. Gentle stretching and mindful breathing act as preventive care, supporting balance, mobility, and stress reduction over time. All poses are offered with options, including mat and chair-based variations, making this class accessible to all levels. No yoga experience needed.

The Rosemount Area Arts Council (RAAC) hosts many exciting events at the Steeple Center that you can take advantage of. Tickets can be purchased online at RAAC’s website www.rosemountarts.com, at the Steeple Center during their Box Office Hours (Mondays 10am-12pm, Tuesdays 9-11am and Thursdays 13pm), or at the door.

They will trim toenails, manage fungal nails, reduce corn/callus, and provide diabetic foot care. Appointments are required. Call them at 651-829-3944 or schedule online at thefootnurse.net.
Dementia Support Group
Third Thursdays , 11am—12pm FREE! This support group for people with early-stage dementia and their caregivers provides information, resources and support directly to the person impacted. Alzheimer’s Association support groups, conducted by trained facilitators are a safe place for people with dementia to develop a support system, exchange practical information on living well with dementia, learn about community resources, and talk through issues and concerns. All participants in the early-stage support group must go through a pre-screening process by calling the Alzheimer Association’s 24/7 Helpline at 1.800.272.3900. Sponsored by DARTS and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Solo Agers Group 4th Wednesday, 1pm Room 200 FREE! Solo Agers live alone without a partner or family nearby, often navigating the challenges of aging independently. Our Solo Agers group will offer a supportive space to connect with others in similar life stages. If you’re a Solo Ager, consider joining us at our meetings, where we will discuss a variety of relevant topics.

The "Billy & Elton: The Hits" tribute concert brings to life these two piano hit-makers biggest songs including “Bennie & The Jets”, “Your Song”, “My Life”, “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”, “Rocket Man”, “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me”, “Crocodile Rock”, “Movin’ Out”, “Tiny Dancer”, “Daniel”, “Only the Good Die Young”, “New York State of Mind” and of course no piano-hits show would be complete without “Piano Man”!
RAAC’s UFO and PHD Group: The PHD/UFO (Projects Half Done/Unfished Objects) group is not a crafts group, but people who enjoy creating works of art in various Fiber mediums. The types of work involve quilting, embroidery, wool work, needlepoint, cross stitch, hardanger, knitting, crocheting, crewel, wool felting and any other types of fiber art. People join the group not only to work on their projects but to learn from others, show off their finished work, and to socialize.
