PRESIDENTS REPORT: As this is my first report as President I would like to thank the outgoing committee led by Roger James for all the hard work and effort they have put into the planning and organization of a most enjoyable and event filled year. I only hope the newly elected committee can provide a calendar of social and competition events that can be enjoyed by all members.
Our first social event this year was the Anzac weekend at Mount Gambia which was jointly arranged by the Porsche Club of Vic. and the Porsche Club of South Aust. Congratulations must go to Bob Jettner and Steven Wenke of S. A.. and Barbara Clearihan of Vic. for their tremendous organization. Special thanks extended to Steven for his arranging the Showgrounds and fabulous Barbeque area etc. It has been suggested that as our first meeting of interstate clubs proved to be so successful, we should look to a national get together in the near future.

There is nothing more pleasing than to sit back and watch 32 Porsche owners washing, polishing, cleaning door jams, engine compartments and any other inconceivable spot where they think the judges may look for that tell tale speck of dust. Then when the judging is all over they take their immaculate vehicles out on to the Motorkhana course only to slip and slide around on the soft grassy surface (which did not stay grassy for long). 27. Garnet Luckins
Porsche Club Autocrossé meeting with Triumph Sports Owners Association March 27th 1977.
Our members enjoyed an excellent days motor sport with members of the T. S. 0. A. in our second joint Autocrosse. Porsches again took the honours with Kerry Reynolds winning narrowly from Bruce Harris, reversing the result of the earlier Autocrosse last year when Bruce wone with Kerry runner-up.
The day was fine in spite of early indications that the weather might have turned nasty and the track itself was in perfect condition - there being no fine dust as on the previous occasion.
The Committee was disappointed that our club was not better represented at this event, because it did provide members with the opportunity of getting to know their cars better under controlled conditions. The surface at Broadford is a very smooth one and there is little risk of damage to car or driver - the speeds being relatively slow. All competitors agreed that it was an excellent days mator sport and we trust that those of you who stayed away will participate next time. Please remember that the events listed on our calendar are carefully selected to suit Porsche cars and owners and we do need your support in all of our activities to make our efforts worthwhile.

DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP: * 1977.
SECRETARY'S REPORT. It is pleasing to note the clubs stability in membership after the very enthusiastic beginning in 1975.
Naturally members have individual expectations of the Club whilst we have lost some members - the most common reason being that they have sold their cars, and replaced it with a non Porsche vehicle, it is clear that the outgoing Committee have satisfied most members most of the time.
It is interesting to see that as at 19th April, 1977 there were 70 single and 76 joint financial members. This compares with 96 single and 90 joint members at the end of December, 1976. Renewals to 19th April 1977 were 58 single and 62 joint.
I think it is fair to say that our Club is evenly balanced between single and family members.
Taking the statistical analysis a little further, in terms of types of cars owned by club members the following numbers as at 19th April 1977 were:--
The above figures suggest that the 40 four cylinder cars (356 + 912) are somewhat over shadowed by 67 911's. However 2. 7's being current models represent. a substantial percentage of the 911 total. I make no inference in these figures.
I hope that members will participate in events without feeling they are disadvantaged by having an older or less powerful car.
I wish the new Committee well and look forward to another enjoyable year of Club activities.

CLUB GOURMET DINNER
It has become apparent that not one member of the Porsche Club of Victoria was invited to Len Evan's recently much publicized dinner. We do not begrudge the Prime Minister being a guest, but since good taste has been always regarded synonymous withfine food, fine wine and fine cars, it was even more apparent that there was some kind of conspiracy afoot and most probably instigated by "that other car club".
When your committee came out of its deep depression, caused naturally by the savage blow struck at its pride, it came to a very simple solution - "if you can't lick 'em, join 'em." This is exactly what we intend to do. It has now been arranged that those quick-of-themark club members who indicate their willingness, can partake 'of a sumptuous meal that will not only equal, but surpass that little tea party of Mr. Evans.
The first job was to contact the vinters associated with "that other dinner, " but to our dismaywe discovered that 1780-1914 wines were in very short supply and somewhat expensive. Undaunted by this we proceeded to cast our attention to the food side of the programme. All went well until we asked for 'volunteers to sample witchetty grubs. Alas we are still waiting for such a brave person. Finally by means too devious and lengthy to expound on in a brief summary of this glorious coming event, we managed to be extremely fortunate in securing the services of'a German Chef, English Maitre d' and a small restaurant centrally located in Melbourne, to have our first and hopefully, not last, Gourmet Dinner.
The menu has been settled on, the wines have been agreed upon in principal, the venue arranged and the date set - now all we need is Y 0 U. The tantalizing, taste bud tempting tit-bits that will be served 'to you on Tuesday 15th June 1977, at Derry's Restaurant is the following seven course menu:
1st Course: GRAPEFRUIT MARASCHINO -
Whole grapefruit soaked with Maraschino Liqueur - the top is sliced off, port poured over, sprinkled with brown sugar, grilled and served hot.Served with a chablis.
DATE: Tuesday 15th June, 1977
TIME: 7.30 pm.
COST: $22.50 per head.
REMEMBER: There is a limit of 50 persons, consequently the first 50 will be the lucky ones. Members are quite welcome to bring friends. All applications and cheques to be in by 1st June, 1977. Admission by Entree Card only. Those wishing to attend must complete the following form.

5th Course: VENISON
Selected leg of venison pot roasted with kippled mushrooms and juniper berries, served with wine apple and cranberry sauce, Bavarian brot dumpling and Rhineland red cabbage. , The wine - a 1965 to 1967 red.
6th Course: FLAMBE OF SOUR CHERRIES -
Cherries soaked in Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Brandy and Rum - served hot with vanilla ice cream. The wine - Champagne naturally.
7th Course: COFFEE AND VINTAGE PORT.
Your committee feels that the menu is interesting, varied and worthy of a purveyor of fine things. It should be noted that Germans are regarded t o not only make fine cars, but are also expert chefs specialising in the cooking of venison. Dancing facilities are available, and all this is reasonably priced at $22. 50 per head.
The dinner is limited to 50 persons, so we urge you to arrange a party (friends are welcome) as it can be confidently said that such a dinner can not be duplicated elsewhere at that price.
