PRESIDENT'S REPORT
December 31st brought the finish of a hard year for a large number of us. I know that the Committee members of the PorscheClub are glad to see 1975 behind them. It was a year involving a lot of effort in the birth and early stages of growth of our new Club. I am sure you will join me in congratulating the Committee for the excellent work they have done.
1976 is going to be a year of opportunity involving Club members in enjoyment and effort. This should be obvious from glancing at the first few events listed on the above calendar.
Those who attended our last meeting will recall they were asked to record what Club activities would excite their interest. Our programme for 1976 has been designed around the thoughts expressed. I therefore hope you will support us in attending and participating in our coming events.
PRESIDENT'S REPORT - cont'd.
As mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter, our first annual elections are due in April and under the Constitution of the Club, all positions will become vacant. Unfortunately, due to increasing business commitments I will not be nominating for a position, but I do urge those of you who have the time, energy and will, to nominate for a position. Previous car club experience is not necessary.
Remember it is your Club and only your continuing participation will help it achieve success.
GENERAL MEETING
Tuesday, 24th February, 1976
This meeting to be held at our usual meeting place, the Light Car Club will commence at 8.30 p.m.
We are pleased to be able to announce that Frank Gardner will be the guest speaker and members are therefore assured of an interesting and entertaining evening.
Frank would need little introduction to any follower of International Motor Sport and to have him as our guest is certainly an exciting prospect.
Followingthis a film will be shown which will again be of special interest to Porsche eñthusiasls.
Those of you who may be interested in dining out beforehand may care to come along to 'Athols Abbey', 376A St. Kilda Road', .Melbourne, where an enjoyable meal can be obtained at reasonable cost and with prompt service. We thought that having dinner together in this informal manner might provide an opportunity for members to meet one another and discuss our common interests.
COCKTAIL PARTY at HAMILTONS
Monday, 1st March, 1976 at 7.30 p.m.
Less than a week after the General Meeting we are again stepping out to what will no doubt prove to be an historic date in the annals of Porsche in Australia - The introduction of the 924.
This completely new car which is an additional model to the range should be a real sales success throughout the world. It has a two litre front engined powerplant driving the rear wheels with the gearbox and differential combined at the rear. The roadholding of the car is described by the English magazine "Motor Sport" as "almost sensational"
Hamiltons are importing the first 924 to evaluate it under our conditions and to exhibit the car at the Melbourne Motor Show in March. However, on this night of March 1st, Porsche Club members will have the opportunity to inspect the car for themselves, whilst at the same time the 1976 - 911 models will alsobe available for detailed inspection.
Hamiltons will also take this, opportunity to show members over the new premises which include an extensive and magnificiently equipped workshop.
Admission on the night will be by entre card only and members wishing to attend must therefore complete the form at the foot of this page and return it to reach the Club Secretary no later than 23rd February. Admission is free.

AUTOCROSSE AT BROADFORD
Sunday, 21st March, 1976 at 11.00a.m.
Here we have an event which is certain to interest members who are keen to do some amateur club lype competition, without risking injury to driver or vehicle. The Triumph Sports Owners Association has invited us to this favourite venue of theirs where a motorkhana type event is to be held.
The surface is well grassed and smooth and cars compete individually against the stop-watch (electronically controlled).
This will be the first event counting toward the AnnualDrivers Championship (see elsewhere) and it is felt that both 911 and 356 models should perform equally well.
Tofind the course, proceed to Broadford, turn left at the Public Conveniences and follow the road to a 'T' junction, turn right and then through the first gate on the left. Anyone preferring to travel in a convoy could be at the Coles Supermarket, Cnr. Burke Road and Doncaster Road, North Balwyn at 9.30 a.m. sharp. Those members travelling individually should endeavour to be at Broadford by 10.45 a .m. to lodge their entry and have a look at the course.
As the area is quite rural and picturesque, we would like you to stay on for a Bar-B-Que aftervirds, so please bring the necessary requirements.
Please note that competitors are not permitted to drink alcohol until the conclusion of the event. /4.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Tuesday, 27th April, 1976
This is our most important meeting of the year because on this night a Committee will be elected (hopefully), which will assume the responsibility for running the Club over the following twelve months.
As nominations close on 13th April, the present Committee is anxious to receive nominations from interested parties who are prepared to work hard to further the aims of the Club.
Note: A member may nominate himself/herself or any other Club member for a position.

ANNUAL DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP
Further to views expressed, the Committee has decided to have an award for the best club driver in certain club and invitation events.
The first event to carry points will be the Broadford Autocrosse and subsequent Championship events will be advised in future newsletters.
Points will be attainable by financial members of the Club who compete in Porsche vehicles, and will be awarded on the following basis -
1. Where, at any nominated event, the number of competitors exceed six (6) the first placegetter shall be awarded seven (7) points,the second five (5) points, the third four (4) points Wand so on.
2. Where, at any nominated event, the number of competitors is five (5) or less, the first placegetter shall be avorded the number of points equivalent to the number of competitors pius one (1), the second placegeffer awarded the number of points equivalent to the number of competitors minus one (1), the third placegetter awarded one (1) point less than the second and so on.
3. An event can be made up of a number of sub-events, e.g. a motorkhana, in which case points shall be awarded in each sub-event on the basis of the winner of any sub-event being awrded the number of points equivalent to the number of competitors in that event and each subsequent placegetter shall be awarded one (1) point less than the preceding piacegetter.
4. In the awarding of points a competitor shall be interpreted to mean one who is eligible to be awarded points in the drivers championship.
5. Where an event comprises of a number of runs, only the best result for any competitor shall be taken into calculation for the awarding of points.
6. Where there is a tie in respect of any placing in an event, then the points to be awarded in respect of those placings is to be averaged between those entitled to receive such points.
7. In the event of a tie for the championship award, a trophy shall be awarded to each person participating in such tie and the trophy shall be designated to indicate a tied result.
MEMBERSHIP
At present we have ninety financial members. Please help us in our recruiting drive by soliciting new members at every opportunity. We aim to have 100 financial members by the Annual General Meeting.

Yes, you guessed correctly! Three wet outings in succession causes Porsche Club members to become frustrated. Nevertheless, forty drivers left the warmth of their Sunday beds and faced Melbourne's drizzle to present their fine machines.
The loud speakers screached "Hot Dogs and Hot Coffee" while owners stood in the rain awaiting the judges - "Hot Brandy and a St. Bernard" would have been more to the point.
Can two lines of gleaming wet Porsches outshine M.G's, Rolls Royces and the best of Detroit? Yes, that they did! From the borrowed red Presidential Carrera to the modified chocolate Turbo, the attendance was fantastic and a real measure of the enthusiasm of the members of the Porsche Club for their cars.

PRODUCTION SPORTS - Here We Come !
This year Porsches will be eligible for Production Sports Car races held under C.A.M.S. regulations. An unbeatable combination would appear to be Alan Hamilton driving a 1975 Carrera RSR. It is expected the first outing of this pair for 1976 will be at Colder Raceway on 14th March.
LUNCH ON THE JOB
A man in Stoke-on-Trent, England, had the engine of his new car dismantled - for bread. The man said the auto dealer agreed to strip the engine to remove a sandwich a mechanic apparently left inside.
THE "LONGLIFE" CAR
Noticed in a recent issue of the factory magazine "Christophoru&' details of high mileage cars as reported by their owners. One car, a 356A Coupe has covered 307,520 miles. It is owned by a Professor Fausel of the University of California who uses it daily for travelling to the University as well as rallying it and competing in motorkhanas at the week-ends.
The editor would be pleased to hear of any high mileage cars owned by members of our Club, along with the history of such cars.
