Jason G Fordham
Memorial Endowment Fund
We are very pleased to announce the creation of the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund.
Gifted by an individual who asked not to be identified, the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund was established to honor the memory of Jason Fordham, who passed away September 24, 2013, following a 4-year battle with cancer. Jason was a supporter of the arts in Rome and Floyd County, Georgia, particularly related to theatre and the preservation of the Historic DeSoto Theatre and was a member of both the Rome Little Theatre Board of Directors and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation Board, serving as president of the Rome Little Theatre Board of Directors from 2009-2011. The designated purposes of the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund are: (a) to honor Jason Fordham’s contributions to theatre; (b) to serve as Jason Fordham’s legacy; and (c) to provide on-going support for Rome Little Theatre and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation. The income from the investment of monies in the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund will be equally divided between Rome Little Theatre and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation to be used in whatever manner the individual organizations deem appropriate in support of the arts in Rome and Floyd County, Georgia. In addition to the $100,000.00 initial donation to establish the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund, both Rome Little Theatre and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation gladly accept donations to the Endowment Fund to honor Jason’s legacy and his many contributions to theatre as well as provide on-going support for Rome Little Theatre and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation. Donations earmarked for the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund may be safely made at romelittletheatre.org or mailed to the Historic DeSoto Theatre, 530 Broad Street, Rome, GA 30161.

Message from the Director I love the theater at Christmas. I've been involved in theater for so many years now I've lost count, but my favorite time of year to do a show is Christmas. It's almost a tradition for me to spend the first two weeks in December at the theater getting into the Christmas spirit. I've gotten to spend the last three Christmases here at RLT, and I hope for many more. This show is very special to me for many reasons. One- I love this story. I think the message of this story- learning to accept and love others in spite of their differences- is one of the most important things we can teach our children. With so many examples of brokenness in the world, this story teaches us to focus on the beauty. Next- anytime I have the opportunity to work with young ones my heart is happy. I absolutely love getting to know them and watching them bond or seeing them in that moment of success when they really nail their performance. They make me laugh out loud and more than I should probably admit- cry. Really, I cry so much over these kids and how proud I am of them. And last, I love this theater. It never ceases to amaze me at how much time and effort RLT folks will put in to make a show the best it can absolutely be. Every bit of what you see is a team effort and the product of hours and hours of work. To my husband Nathan, I love you desperately. Thank you for staying at home with the kids while I "play". Thank you for understanding that I'm not the fullest expression of myself if I'm not creating. Tina, thank you so much for your tireless efforts on behalf of this theater show after show. You never like to be in the limelight, and that's ok, but the world needs to know how wonderful you are. Suzanne, thank you again for
agreeing to helm the backstage craziness. Somehow you have the ability to remain graceful in all situations. You make me laugh, and you calm my soul. There is no one else like you. Jessica, thank you so much for working to teach note by note, line by line and to get it just right. Your optimism and energy make rehearsal fun, and your ability to read my mind and just know what I want is very helpful! Amie, I'm so blessed to have you on my team. You have such a gift, and I am thrilled that you chose to share it with us. To this cast: you are beyond talented. I am blown away at how much of yourselves you've given to this production. You've been with me every step of the way, doing every silly thing I've asked you, forgiving me when I change your blocking over and over, and singing your hearts out while I yell at you to smile :) The audience is in for a treat, and you are the reason. I hope you are as proud of yourselves as I am! To the parents, thank you for trusting us
with your kids and for allowing me to push them and love them. And thank you for all the volunteer hours you have put in. We've asked a lot of you this time around, and you've filled up those sign up sheets! To our audience, we do this for you. Of course, we have fun doing it, but at the end of the day our goal is to give you the experience of live theater. If we can make you feel something, we've done our job. What you are about to see is not a "Christmas show". There's no mention of Christmas anywhere. I hope you won't leave thinking of it as a "kids show" either. Yes, the cast is made up of children aged 6 to 18, but they've worked as hard as any adult cast and are just as talented. This is an "everyone/anytime show" with a great message and some catchy tunes. We hope that you leave with a new memory, tradition or even just a smile. "Be Our Guest" and enjoy the show.

A Guide to
Theatre Etiquette Arrive early It's a good idea to arrive at least 30 minutes early so you can have plenty of time to find a parking spot, pick up your tickets, use the rest room and get something at the concession’s counter. Use the restroom BEFORE the show and DURING intermission Turn your cell phone off Even if you have it on vibrate, people can still hear the buzzing and it's very distracting. Don't talk or text on the phone DURING the performance. If you need to take a call, please wait until a scene change before you leave. Coming and Going Please don't get up and leave during the performance unless it's an emergency. If you do need to leave or come back in, please wait until there is a scene change. Fidgeting Please sit still. Bumping your elbows into your neighbors or kicking the seat in front of you is annoying. If you have kids, please keep them in control. « Sight lines Try to avoid large hairdos and hats. Also avoid snuggling up to your date because it might block someone's view behind you. Photos Videotaping and taking photos during the performance is a distraction to the performers, other patrons and is often illegal. Please don’t take photos during the show. Other Etiquette Guidelines « Please refrain from talking, humming, or singing along with the show, except when encouraged to do so by the performers. « Please wait for an appropriate time to dig something out of your pocket or bag.
49
« Please do not make noise with candy wrappers or popcorn bags. « Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the DeSoto Theatre. « Go easy with the perfume and cologne, many people are allergic. « The Overture (intro music at the start of a musical theatre show) is a part of the performance, so please be quiet when it begins. « Don't put or throw anything on the stage. « Pay attention to the announcements that are being made prior to each show about the rules and regulations and the location of the fire exits. « Do not whistle or scream out to the performers, except for a Bravo or Brava in the finale. Now for some Dos: « Do laugh in appropriate places. « Do applaud with enthusiasm in the appropriate places. « Do tell all your friends, after the show, what a great time you had. « Do applaud when the performance is over; doing so shows the cast and the crew how much you appreciated their hard work and effort. « Stand and applaud if you really thought the show was great.

Synopsis Be Our Guest! The Academy Award-winning film comes to life in this romantic and beloved take on the classic fairytale. Step into the enchanted world of Disney's Beauty And The Beast Jr. Featuring songs from the Academy Award-winning animated feature, this
stage version includes music by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Dalton Urda (Prince, Maurice/Assistant Director) Dalton is a Senior at Adairsville High School who is actively involved in his school’s theatre program, serving as Thespian President, as well as being an avid member at Rome Little Theatre. Dalton was most recently involved in the production of The Rocky Horror Show, serving as Light Board Operator and helping with the design. Also at his school, Dalton most recently played Monty Harril (from near to Raleigh) in their production of Violet and is currently one of the directors and stage manager of Annie the Musical, which runs January 29-31 at AHS. This show marks Dalton's fourth appearance on the RLT stage and the seventh show he has been involved with, either onstage, in lights, in sound, or in stage management. Dalton is honored to have been able to help in a small way to bring this show to life working under Mandy. Dalton looks forward to many more shows back stage and onstage in Rome and hopes to one day have another future directorial adventure here. Lastly, he would like to wish the cast broken legs and give a shout out to his Beauty, Madison Brinson, as she goes and brings down the house tonight as Belle. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr.!
Trey Wilkerson (Ensemble) Trey is a Freshman at Pepperell High School in Lindale, GA. This is Trey’s first RLT production; however he has previously performed in school productions, choir and band. Abbey also takes piano with Mrs. Kathryn Nobles and dance at the Dance Centre. She would like to thank the entire cast and crew for making one of her favorite Disney stories come to life. Abbey would especially like to thank her parents for supporting and encouraging her in everything she does. Enjoy the show!
