LETTER FROM ANDREA Fall is in the air, or at least Florida fall. Your Rockledge Country Club team will continue our efforts to move the club forward. We are entering our season and the calendar is filling up fast with some of our most exciting annual events. Jeffery and Vanessa have really added a level of professionalism and quality to our Events and F&B department that have been greatly received. Jerry and his crew spearheaded our drive toward excellence with their commitment to maximizing the life of our fantastic new greens. Due to the inconvenience created by the greens aerification, we extended our reciprocal agreement with Duran Golf Course for our Annual Members. Reciprocal agreements can be great in both growing our membership base and providing Annual Members with a little “spice of life” and the ability to continue play when our course must undergo routine maintenance. “Herb Dyal” is the Winner of the Membership Drive. Herb won the Grand Prize trip for two to the PGA National Golf Club. I am happy to announce from May to September we added 10 new annual Members to our Rockledge Country Club family. Membership is our lifeline. If you know anyone interested in membership, our new membership person, Lauryn Countryman, is available to assist you with any questions or concerns. Next up, a big Hickory Stick Hooray led by our Golf Pro, Jeff Turner, and his supporting staff! This year’s Labor Day Tournament took a historical look back on the early days of Golf. This year we added to the tournament by combining our efforts to raise money for a fantastic cause. We chose Folds of Honor because their mission is to provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service-members. I am always a little nervous taking on a commitment like this and wanted to be sure if we did something, we did it right in the true Rockledge Country Club spirit. I am happy to announce the combined efforts of our Members and Staff really paid off. We hit our goal and were able to make a $2,000 donation.

It has been a long, hot summer, but we are now approaching some of the best weather Florida has to offer. From November through May is the “good stuff”!

Summer is always a time for renovation and we did plenty of that. We aerified the greens twice and the tees once. We also aerified the driving range tee twice. Aerification is such an important cultural practice because it benefits the soil and improves the conditions that the turf grass grows in. If no aeration practices were ever done, the organics would create an oxygen starved, waterlogged environment ripe for constant diseases. We aerify to dilute the buildup of the organics and to slow down the process.

We are certainly looking forward to less mowing when the weather cools a little. Right now we are still mowing the rough constantly, and it takes a week to get around the course once. Whenever the nights start to cool, usually mid-October, the grass will slow its growth and those lies you get in the rough become a little more generous!

The greens performed great this summer! I am very pleased with the maturation of the Zoysia grass and am excited to see how well they play this winter. We were able to maintain good pace on them this summer so am expecting even better things this winter as the growth slows and allows them to roll out.

I hope everyone not here now has had a great summer of golf wherever it is you play it, and we look forward to serving you once again very soon!

Yours in Turf, Jerry Yeomans

New Clubs Good Day Fellow Golfers!

With the holiday season upon us, this would be an appropriate time to discuss new clubs. New Year and new clubs sounds like a winning combination. Here are a few tips:

GOLF OUTLOOK WITH JEFF TURNER

1. Don’t believe the hype. What you see advertised may not be the best for your game. If we believed every ad, we would all hit the ball 400 yards and sink every putt. Go to a trusted club fitter and test the equipment before you buy it. 2. 14 Clubs is Maximum by the rules of golf, but not a requirement! If you have a slower swing speed you may only need every other club. If you hit your 8 iron and 9 iron the same distance, you may need 8-10 degrees of loft difference to see a distance difference. 3. Play the same ball all the time. It’s important to know how the ball you play reacts to your clubs. Does it land on the green and roll, or stop with spin? Both are OK, but you need to know what’s going to happen to score well. 4. Repeat this process at least annually. You may think that driver from 8 years ago still works, but clubs do actually wear out. Drivers should be replaced every 2-3 years, irons every 3-5 years and wedges every year. Additionally, your swing may change over time and your clubs may no longer be the best fit now. 5. Give it some time. Adjusting to a new set of clubs takes spending some time with them. Don’t expect to lower your score immediately. For example you may now hit your 7 iron 10 yards further, now you have to adjust to hitting it that distance and change your game accordingly. Be patient. I hope this helps you in your quest for a better game and adds a dimension to club fitting that isn’t often thought of. Good Luck and feel free to reach out with any questions. MEMBERSHIP NEWS WITH LAURYN COUNTRYMAN

Hello RCC Members, My name is Lauryn Countryman, I am the newest member of your Rockledge Country Club Team. I am taking on the role of Membership and Communications. I was born and raised in Southern California where I received my degrees from Brooks College and CSULB in Visual Communications, Merchandising & Marketing. Shortly after Graduating from college I followed my parents to Brevard County. In fact, I got married right here at the Rockledge Country Club in 1998. For the past 18 years, I have crisscrossed this beautiful country in my role as National Franchise Development and Operations Manager for Homes & Land and TheHomeMag. In my role there I helped launch, grow and stabilize the sales and operations of more than 354 markets across the country. You could find me at an Airport almost every Monday and Friday. Last year I decided it was time to start keeping both feet on the ground and returned "Home" to Brevard. I feel truly fortunate to have landed at your beautiful club. I have been incredibly blessed to have learned from, been mentored by and work alongside some truly incredible and brilliant people. It appears that my luck is holding. The Leadership Team at RCC has a keen understanding of the delicate balance between membership retention, acquisition, and win-back. Members experience, quality of play, course & facility maintenance, improvement, and fiscal responsibility. I join them in their dedication to leveraging Rockledge Country Club's rich membership history while striving to provide the best products and services available today in Private Golf Course Membership. Offerings that keep pace with advancing technology and evolving lifestyle needs while holding sacred "community and tradition" of Private Course Membership. To achieve these goals and stay true to our mission we are working a strategic, targeted marketing plan. The plan focuses on targeted segments that can grow our membership base, achieve fiscal responsibility while maximizing member experience and course accessibility. The plan also addresses the cyclical nature of private course membership, providing natural transitions of increase and decrease as member's needs change over time. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you. In fact, it is critical to my success in this new role. The Membership, Community, Relationships, Friendships, Families and Rich Traditions are the Heart and Soul of Rockledge Country Club. They are the things that matter and make RCC the premier club people want to be a part of. Now that you know my story, I hope you will stop by my office in the pro shop and share yours! May Your Swing Be Smooth & Smile Bright, Lauryn Countryman Membership, Marketing & Communications
