FROM THE DESK OF A. BEYEL Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and relaxing holiday with their loved ones. We are certainly glad to ring in the new year and would love to consider this a fresh start, we trust that we will stay prepared for whatever changes may face us in the year ahead. We are looking forward to 2021 and delivering a fabulous year for you and your family at the club. While last year presented numerous challenges, we are very excited to start preparing for some of the traditional club favorites. We have many events to look forward to. Celebrate your Valentine with us in the Around the World Couples Golf Event. Also keep your calendars open for our annual Men’s Member Guest and the Beyel Ladies Invitational. The Golf Department saw a surge of new business with folks wanting to get outdoors. Golf, what better way to get outside and be safe. We greatly appreciate each of you for participating and for the tremendous support. All in all, what looked like a challenging path ahead back in March turned out to be a successful journey. As we enter 2021, we feel confident that we will be able to handle whatever this year tries to throw at us. Our promise to you is that we will continue to make RCC a better place every day. 2020 was filled with incredible growth and evolution, and as a team we are excited about the future of 2021. We will continue to push forward with new ideas, improvements, and a dedication to providing the best experience possible when visiting “The Rock”. Our continued development of the Online Services will focus on bringing you closer to you being able to control your own experience like booking your tee-time online, accessing your account portal, bill-payment and much more. Finally, I want to sincerely thank every member, guest, and my staff for contributing to the success and safety of the Club over the past year. We have certainly all gone through a difficult period, but it has been very inspiring to watch everyone come together and truly make Rockledge Country Club a better place to work and play. Grounds Maintenance Good riddance 2020! Hopefully, the new year will bring an abundance of joy and prosperity to us all! We are fortunate that we have been able to enjoy the game we love through all of this. Golf can be a bridge to the future and help all of us in maintaining some sanity. Since the weather has turned cooler, the green speed has increased. Although our mowing heights have not changed, environmental factors are at play, and they drastically affect the ball roll. Zoysia is a warm season grass, just like Bermuda. When it gets cold, the grass shuts down to store and hold on to its energy reserves. Therefore, the grass becomes less turgid, or swollen, if you will. This seems to create less density, which increases ball roll. So if you like fast greens, you can expect it when the temperature gauge plummets. Please help us out by adhering to the cart traffic signs. Any wear areas we create now will not heal until early summer. Bermudagrass will maintain color unless we get a frost, but growth and recuperative abilities are greatly diminished in the winter season. I realize our thoughts are on our game when we play, but please give consideration to how your actions affect turf and course conditions. Fix those ball marks, carry a sand bucket if you walk, fill your divots and take a different path with your cart than the one that has created a worn trail. Speaking of trails, I hope you have noticed the new cart path material on many of our soft path areas. We are elevating these areas above the grade to allow for water shed instead of collecting water as they were doing. We will continue with this process until finished with all paths. Golf Shop Happy Holidays to our Players! We are excited to announce that our online tee time system for members is fully functional now. Members can log into the member’s only side of the website and book times online. If you need your member number, please give us a call and we can help with that. The first time you log in you will be prompted to create a new password. Once in the member’s only side you will experience member only content such as a calendar of upcoming events, both golf and social, results from member tournaments and the ability to sign up for events online!! Here is a reminder of our tee time policy for members. Tee times may be booked starting at 7:00AM in accordance with the following, Gold Members – 14 days advance Silver Members – 10 days Bronze Members – 7 days All other annual members – 5 days We will continue to book group tee times as we have over the past year. Groups of play less than 3 tee times will still need to use the online system, call or come in person. We will continue to communicate as much as possible with the leaders of the groups, but it is the responsibility of the group leaders to verify tee times two weeks in advance and communicate with their players. Food and Beverage Dear Members and Guests, Happy New Year! I hope this newsletter finds you well and ready for a fresh start with the New Year. We are excited to become more and more, your go to place for that after golf experience to celebrate and be together. We are excited to see more and more of our Pickleball players joining us now as well! Well, just so you know we are in the midst of engagement season. 38% of Engagements happen between November and February. So chances are you may know someone! We can accommodate any event from small intimate affairs to large celebrations – COVID restrictions pending of course. Keep in mind, it is not necessary to be a member of RCC to book a private event at the Club. When you book your event at RCC, you and your guests will enjoy the gracious ambiance of our spacious clubhouse as well as the incredible views of the surrounding green space, lakes and golf course. Speaking of Events, I am very excited about what we have begun planning for the upcoming Men's Member Guest. More info coming soon but you won't want to miss it. Appreciate your time!
