FROM THE DESK OF A. BEYEL Dear Members & Guests,
The warmer weather is really appreciated and it is so nice to see all of you enjoying it! Let’s hope we can keep it going right on through the rest of spring. We hope those of you that attended had a wonderful Men’s Member Guest weekend. How about those Hula Dancers? We loved seeing everyone dance the night away. We had a great time with all of you! I also want to give a shout- out to our amazing staff for all their hard work and service they provided throughout the weekend. We can’t wait for next year! As you know (or may not), our golf professional, Jeff Turner, has taken a position as the head golf professional at Duran Golf Club. However, he will be helping with the memberguest event. We appreciate all of Jeff’s contributions to the operations and growth of the club for the 7 years he was here. We wish him well in his new position. We are currently going through the process of replacing Jeff and will make that announcement as soon as we are able. I realize the time here is short for many of you snowbirds. We hope your season has been an enjoyable one and we thank you for your patronage. We hope to see you all back here in the fall and wish you a great summer wherever you may be! On a sad note, we regret the passing of one of our dearest and longest members here at the club. Fred Robinson was a Pearl Harbor survivor and a WW II hero. We will miss him and wish Carolyn and the family much peace. Sincerely,

Turf Care Dear Members & Guests, It’s a great time of year in the golfing world! We have the Florida swing events throughout March and then the Masters in April. Please keep in mind that these events are all part of a travelling golf circus that performs weekly on golf courses that are manicured 52 weeks of the year for this one special event. That is not to say they aren’t good the other weeks, just that they are at their best for 1 week. During that week, each event has 100’s of volunteers taking care of a multitude of details that need handled. I bring this up because your average course has nowhere near the resources available to accomplish what these courses do, yet some people will compare their local course to what they see on TV, or the actual tournament site. It’s a very unfair and unrealistic comparison. We recently fertilized the entire course. The recent warm weather has helped the fertilizer do it's job. The bermudagrass will respond much better to nutrients with the warme environment. To get good recuperative growth we need the nights to get warmer. The bermudagrass does best when we get uncomfortable outside. Cart traffic is taking its toll and creating wear areas. Please be cognizant of this and follow the cart driving rules. Stay on paths around greens and tees, avoid using areas already worn by traffic and stay at least 30 feet from greens for handicap flag users. Thank you for your cooperation.
