FROM THE DESK OF A. BEYEL Dear members and guests, Hope this newsletter finds you well. April is always bittersweet as it is a time, we must say goodbye to our snowbirds. It was great to see familiar faces and we’re so grateful things seem to be getting back to normal. Safe travels. Hope everyone is enjoying the golf course. The greens have been superb all season long. Jerry and his crew have done a great job on the course this winter. We do have some plans for tee renovations this summer, so stay tuned for the details. Men’s Member guest was an overall success. The Hawaiian vibe of the club helped everyone’s spirits as we danced around the rain. I’m once again blown away at the tenacity of our RCC team! Congratulations to all our winners. There are some new things happening behind the scenes here at the club. We have hired a golf professional and his name is Mike Pryor. Mike comes to us with an extensive background as a PGA professional. Mike has over 25 years’ experience in golf operations and is a welcome new addition to our team. Easter is fast approaching, and we have a wonderful brunch lined up for you! We look forward to you attending. Please make your reservations soon as space is limited. With the Masters just a week away the champion season is upon us. Who will be our Rockledge Country Club Men’s and Woman’s club champion??? This event will be open to our associates. Turf Care Spring has sprung and now it is time for some healing. As I’ve mentioned in the past, Bermudagrass does not thrive in the cooler months. The constant traffic and cool weather keeps it in a dormant or semi-dormant state most of the time. It will generally remain green, but that’s about it. Now we start getting longer days, warm and humid days and nights, and rainfall. This is a perfect recipe to grow Bermudagrass. We have some renovations planned for this summer. Several of the par 3 tee boxes will be stripped, levelled and made larger. Over time all the topdressing of divots creates a mounded or humped area on the tee surface that is not ideal. We expect to begin sometime in late May. There will be temporary tees during this process. The tees will be sprigged and total time from start to finish should be about 10 weeks. Additionally, some bunker renovations will take place. We have no specifics at this time, but stay tuned for updates. Some good news regarding our aerification program for this summer. We are going to use a smaller tine due to the excessive recovery time the Zoysia needs to heal the holes properly. The disruption should be very minimal after each procedure. We have one scheduled for May, July and September. We will still continue to do our topdressings and verticuttings as usual. Zoysia is a very aggressive grower in the summer, as it is a warm season grass. It builds organics quite fast and without the cultural practices like aerification, verticutting and topdressing, the thatch layer would become excessive. This would create an environment for disease development due to excess moisture retention. Mole cricket season is also happening. We will be out slaying them throughout the spring months to ensure they don’t make it to adulthood where they do tremendous damage to turf. Weed treatments will also occur and there may be occasional temporary discoloring of the turf. This is normal and not permanent. It is similar to a chemo treatment in that it does some damage to the good stuff but more damage to the bad stuff. Yours in Turf, Jerry Yeomans

I look forward to meeting everyone and learning about the history of the club and how I may work to exceed your expectations of membership in one of the premier golf facilities on the East Coast. I am a native Floridian that grew up in Melbourne and attended Eau Gallie High School, I also graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Political Science in 1992. #CHARGEON I am a Certified PGA Professional with nearly 25 years of golf management experience to include: • Falcon’s Fire Golf Club (1996 – ’00) – began my career at Falcon’s Fire where we hosted more than 60,000 rounds annually and 200 golf events • Orange Lake Resort & Country Club (2001 – ’07) – as the Senior Director of Golf & Tennis Operations, managed four golf courses, two practice facilities and an onsite golf academy • MetroWest Golf Club (2007 – ’11) - as the General Manager hosted events including US Open Qualifying Tournaments and Champions Tour Qualifying Events • The ANNIKA Academy (2014 – ’15) – worked closely with Annika and her team of instructors, including Henri Reis (Annika’s only swing coach) and Kai Fusser (Annika’s fitness coach) to teach golf, fitness, and mental approach concepts. • US Junior National Team (2014 – ’15) – based out of The ANNIKA Academy, developed the team’s first training site in Florida, attracting junior golfers from all of Florida. • Certified PGA Professional | Golf Operations (2016) – completed the PGA of America’s Advanced Golf Operations program • Certified PGA Professional | Teaching & Coaching (2017) – completed the PGA of America’s advanced Teaching & Coaching program. Most recently I have managed my own marketing company as well as the Space Coast Golf Academy where I have been actively teaching both adult and junior golfers leveraging the Operation 36 Golf Program.
