17th Annual Kid's Fishing Day at Massanutten It's that time of year again! Free lunch and a goodie bag will be provided for all participants, ages 15 and under, along with a chance to win some great prizes! We plan to stock Painter's Pond in Massanutten with over 3,000 fish, giving all children a chance to catch their 6 trout limit. Pre-registration is required, and sign ups the day of the event will not be accepted. Please only register if you are certain of your plans to attend as there are limited spots available. There will be two separate time slots available (911:30am or 1-3:30pm). We will also be offering a Special Olympics Fishing Day on Sunday, April 24 from 2-4pm. Campout at the Park Bring out the family for a fun night at the park. You will have the chance to camp at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads, enjoy s’mores on the campfire, pizza in the pavilion, donuts in the morning, watch a movie on our outdoor movie screen and more! Space is limited so register early. You will be responsible for your own tent and camping supplies (a supply list and additional information will be emailed upon registration). Yard Sale at the Park Register now for a space for the yard sale at the park! Spaces are approximately 18’x18’. Tables and electricity are not provided. Food and craft vendors are welcome! Crossroads Craft Show Calling all craft and food vendors to the Rockingham Park at the Crossroads! If you make handmade items, sell new items and are looking for a place to showcase them, we have the event for you. We are looking for local artisans that make/sell paintings, pottery, jewelry, or any other wares. General Admission is FREE. Items must be new or handmade by the vendor that is selling them. Start Smart was developed by top motor skill development specialists in the field of youth sports. Parent-child groups perform motor skill tasks that gradually build confidence in children while they are having fun at the same time. Participants will develop motor skills without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt that will allow them to enjoy and succeed in their youth sports future! Youth Bowling League Start learning the skills and rules of a lifelong recreational sport with our Valley Lane’s Bowling League. We will be partnering with Valley Lane’s in Harrisonburg to provide a bowling league for Rockingham County Youth. Every participant that signs up will be able to bowl two games on four successive Saturdays in February (Feb 5, 12, 19 & 26). Start times will be determined by the ages and number of participants but will take place in the 9am12noon time frame. Registration fees include game fees and shoe fees for every Saturday. NFL Flag Football Our NFL Flag Football league is designed to introduce boys and girls to the fundamental elements of football in a fun, instructional and safe environment. From the moment your child steps on the field, our program is designed to assist each player with the advancement of their individual skill level and football knowledge while enhancing their level of play in a fun and structured environment. Each participant will receive a NFL branded jersey and a flag belt. Shorts will be available for purchase for $10 per pair. Beginner Rock Climbing & Rappelling GEORGE WASH. NTL. FOREST, VA Enjoy a day of introductory instruction and participation in technical rock climbing. Participants will learn some basic movement on rock, and will learn to tie appropriate knots, to belay, and to rappel. One needs not to be a “super-athlete,” but should be prepared for a full day of hiking and physical activity. Meet up and driving directions will be provided. Intermediate Rock Climbing & Rappelling
Beginner Wild Caving BRIDGEWATER, VA Meet up with us for a half-day introduction to wild caving. Participants will learn basic caving safety, underground navigation, and some elementary limestone geology. We will also spend some time exploring, stooping, crawling, squeezing and getting very muddy! Fee $30 | Register By February 18 Sunday, February 27 | 1-5pm | Ages 10+
GEORGE WASH. NTL. FOREST, VA This full day of rock climbing and rappelling is a "next step" for individuals who have had prior climbing experience. You will visit a different location from the Beginner Rock Climbing and Rappelling trip and try some more challenging climbing. Meet up and driving directions will be provided. Women's Volleyball The spring volleyball season will start the week of March 21 and run through mid-May. Teams will be able to choose the night of play, Monday, or Wednesday night. There is an 8team maximum per night, once those spots are filled, we will not be taking anymore registrations. We need at least 6 per night to fill a league, teams may be asked to switch nights if there are not enough teams. Each team will play at least two games per night. The winner of the championship will receive a t-shirt. We will have to follow RCPS COVID-19 policies. Teams will be informed of those policies before the season begins. Women's Self Defense Rockingham County Deputies will conduct three 90 minute Women’s Self Defense classes. The classes are three consecutive days set up for basic and more advanced self-defense skills and the entire class is hands on life saving. The classes contains components such as how to better personal awareness, defend against aggressive attackers, how to strike, punch and kick. An instructor will wear a padded “red man suit” on the third day so that students can use the skills they have learned. Financial Planning 101 This course will provide you with some basic skills for financial planning. AARP Smart Driver Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road to safely adjust driving to compensate for age-related changes. Our playground is equipped with slides, a zipline, rotating climber, swings for all ages & a rope venture vertex. Playground & walking trail is open sunrise-sunset. Main gates may be closed, but alternative parking is available outside of gates.
Our 1.05 mile walking trail borders our athletic fields & playground. Dogs are welcome on the trail but must be on a leash at all times. Dog stations can be found throughout the trail, equipped with waste bags & trash can, so please pick up after your pet!

trip refund & overnight deposit policy FOR ALL TRIP PROGRAMS-No refunds will be given, unless your space on the trip can be filled. If a waiting list exists, RCPR will contact those on the waiting list to try to fill the space(s). If no waiting list exists, it will be the responsibility of the participant to resell their space(s) on the trip. NOTE: a $10 cancellation fee will apply, even if the space is filled. · Trip deposit reservations are available for overnight trips only. A minimum of a $100 deposit per person is required to reserve your space. · Deposits are non-refundable unless trip is cancelled by Rockingham County Parks & Recreation. · Deposit deadline will be one month prior to trip registration deadline. · Following the deposit deadline, remaining balance must be paid in full by the registration deadline. · Any registrations made after the deposit deadline will be required to pay in full. · Failure to pay remaining balance by the registration deadline may result in loss of space on trip. · If a single person out of a double/triple/quad room withdraws from trip or fails to pay balance, it will be the responsibility of the remaining roommates to pay the difference on the new room rate.
department refund policy CANCELLATION OF ACTIVITY BY THE DEPARTMENT-Persons registered for a program which is cancelled by the department shall receive a full refund or credit for a future program, whichever the registrant prefers. PARTICIPANT CANCELLATIONS-Persons cancelling their registration prior to the registration deadline shall receive a full refund or credit for a future program, whichever the registrant prefers. No refunds will be given following the registration deadline. CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPANT IN LEAGUES AND TOURNAMENTS-Entry fees for team or individual participation in leagues and tournaments are non-refundable or transferable 5 business days following the registration deadline. NOTE: a $10 cancellation fee will apply, even if the space is filled. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for processing and to receive refund checks.
