Signing up will reserve you a spot to set up with your items, spots will consist of two parking spaces. FAMILY BINGO Come join us for Family BINGO at Plains District Community Center in Timberville. This is a great way to spend time with family and friends doing something fun and FREE on a Wednesday evening during Spring Break! KIDS FISHING DAY A goodie bag will be provided for all participants, ages 15 and under, along with a chance to win some great prizes! DISCOVERING DINOSAURS Travel back in time to explore stegosauruses, T. rexes, raptors, and more! In this playful, hands-on class, young paleontologists will learn about different dinosaurs—what they ate, how they lived, and what made them unique—while building their own dino models with DUPLO® bricks. Each week includes stories, creative building, and fun games that strengthen early learning skills like listening, cooperation, counting, and colors. FLL CHALLENGE ROBOTICS CLUB (NON-COMPETITIVE)

LEGO LEAGUE EXPLORE FOR HOMESCHOOLERS

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Challenge is a global robotics program where teams design, build, and program autonomous robots to complete themed missions using LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime. In our robotics club, train like a FLL Challenge team—without the pressure of tournaments! In this hands-on class, students will use LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime to build sturdy robots, design attachments, learn core coding skills, and problem-solve like real engineers. We’ll incorporate programming elements from Snapology’s Robot Sports Challenge curriculum, giving students fun, friendly challenges where they’ll race, push, lift, and maneuver their robot creations through a series of tasks. Students will also have the chance to explore real FLL-style robot missions using models from the current FLL “UNEARTHED” archaeology theme—digging into robot navigation, accuracy, strategy and teamwork. While this club does not attend tournaments, students will still experience what it’s like to be on a Challenge team. They’ll collaborate in small groups, complete mission-based challenges, and prepare for a student showcase (date TBD) where families can come see robots in action and celebrate everything students have learned Fee $175 | Register By January 19 January 26-March 23 | Mondays 5:15-6:45pm | Ages 10-14 | @RRC

This season’s theme, “Unearthed,” invites students to become junior archaeologists! Teams will explore dig sites, investigate artifacts from long ago, and uncover how archaeology helps us understand the past. Using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential robotics, students will build and code themed robotic models, collaborate to design and build a large archaeological team model, create a team poster, and practice the FLL Core Values of Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun. At the end of the season, all Snapology Explore teams will come together for a Festival (date TBD) where students present their team model and poster, share what they’ve learned, and celebrate a season of teamwork and creativity. Every child is recognized and receives an award! The class fee includes 8 weeks of 1.5-hour classes, team/Festival registration, and a shirt. AMUSEMENT PARK ADVENTURES ENGINEERING Does your child love the thrills of amusement park rides? In this intermediate-to-advanced Snapology engineering class, students become ride engineers as they design and build their own spinning, dropping, and racing attractions. Each session includes a guided build of a ride model with LEGO® Technic bricks and motors to introduce key physics concepts—like potential and kinetic energy, gravity, centripetal force, and angular momentum. Then, students take their learning further by modifying their rides and creating innovative versions of their own. With motors, engineering challenges, and plenty of room for creativity, this class offers a fun and rewarding deep dive into real-world STEM. MACHINES & CONTRAPTIONS ENGINEERING Does your young learner love to build, tinker, or take things apart to see how they work? In this hands-on class, students explore mechanical movement and simple machines as they follow guided builds and create their own designs with LEGO® technic bricks and Snapology’s engineering kits. Using LEGO® Power Functions motors, they’ll bring creations like merry-go-rounds, windmills, gokarts, and more to life while testing physics concepts, solving challenges, and collaborating with friends. SUPER STRUCTURES (ENGINEERING) Does your builder love designing buildings and creative spaces? In this 6-week class, young architects will learn how ideas become real structures as they explore architectural design, planning, and engineering with LEGO® bricks. Students will create floor plans, build sturdy structures, and even disaster-proof their designs while practicing teamwork and problem-solving. INDOOR TRACK MEET SERIES We are partnering with the Shenandoah Valley Track Club to offer the indoor track meet series program. These meets are designed to engage kids and adults in sprinting distance and jumping events, encouraging general fitness and healthy behaviors through a series of fun indoor meets. Competition will be broken into age divisions ranging from 5 years of age to adults. The indoor meet series will be held Wednesday nights beginning with the preseason training camp on January 21st. The training camp will cover tips, tricks, and instructions on how track meets work and how to best perform in running and jumping events.The indoor track meets will start on February 4th and will conclude March 4th. All meets will be held at Rockingham Recreation Center. Fee $40 for all or $25 per session January 21-March 4 | Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm | Ages 5+ | @RRC

YOUTH BOWLING Valley Lanes is now INTERSTATE BOWL NORTH! Under new management, INTERSTATE BOWL NORTH will be partnering with RCPR to provide a recreational bowling league. Scores will be kept on the overhead scoreboards, but no awards or winners will be declared. The goals are to have fun, learn the basics of this lifelong activity, and compete against yourself for your best score during the fourweek program. Every participant that signs up will be able to bowl two games on four successive Saturdays. Registration fees include game fees and shoe fees for every Saturday (9-10:15am or 10:30-11:45am timeslots). START SMART SPORTS

Parent-child groups perform motor skill tasks that gradually build confidence in children while they are having fun at the same time. Start Smart participants will develop proper motor skills without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt that will allow them to enjoy and succeed in their youth sports future! (Your child MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times during these classes. Adults will actively participate with their child during each session.) NFL FLAG FOOTBALL Our NFL Flag Football league is designed to introduce boys and girls to the fundamental elements of football in a fun, instructional and safe environment. From the moment your child steps on the field, our program is designed to assist each player with the advancement of their individual skill level and football knowledge while enhancing their level of play in a fun and structured environment. Each participant will receive an NFL branded jersey and a flag belt. All games will be played on Wednesday or Thursday evenings (5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm) at Rockingham County Park at Crossroads. Please make sure that you sign up for the correct district (East Rockingham, Spotswood, Turner Ashby, Broadway) depending on your current address. EMU/RCPR COED SOCCER CLINIC RCPR will partner with the EMU Royals Mens Soccer Team this year to provide a COED soccer clinic for the K-5th graders in Rockingham County. The clinic will be twice a week for four consecutive weeks. The eight sessions total will take place on Tuesday & Thursday nights at the Rockingham County Park at the Crossroads. Participants will be placed in groups based on grade level for skills, drills, and pick-up style play/games. YOUTH VOLLEYBALL CLINIC Learn the fundamentals of volleyball. This clinic is for girls and boys that are interested in learning the basics of volleyball. The clinic will be a total of five sessions. WOMENS SPRING VOLLEYBALL The spring volleyball season will start the week of March 9 and run for 8 weeks. Games will be played on Monday and Wednesday nights. There is an 8-team maximum per night, once those spots are filled, we will have a waitlist. We need at least 4 teams to fill a league. Each team will play at least two games every night. RCPR PICKLEBALL LEAGUE Join our Rockingham County Pickleball doubles league that offers up a chance for you and your playing partner to play against others in a fun and competitive environment! Multiple games each week with playoffs and standings. Games will be played on Thursday nights starting in April and running through May. This league is open to players of any skill level! INTRO TO PICKLEBALL CLINIC Interested in learning pickleball? This beginner clinic is designed for new players starting out who are looking to build up confidence and understanding of the fundamentals of the game! In this clinic you will learn the basics of serving and hitting the ball, basic rules and scoring, and positioning on court. No experience is required! Equipment can also be provided! VIA FERRATA AT NROCKS, WV WEST VIRGINIA The Via Ferrata (“way of iron” or “steel trail”) is a strenuous non-technical climbing and hiking experience on natural rock, but also with rungs and a safety cable.Participants are harnessed up and clipping into the cable throughout this 3-5 hour event. Wildly scenic and physically challenging experience over breath-taking West Virginia terrain. A 90 minute drive from Harrisonburg VA to get there. INTERMEDIATE ROCK CLIMBING GEORGE WASHINGTON NATIONAL FOREST This is a rock climbing adventure for folks who have been on a WGA Beginner Rock Climbing Day and are ready for a little more physical challenge. AARP SMART DRIVER Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road to safely adjust driving to compensate for age-related changes. WASHINGTON, DC The U.S. Botanic Garden, on the grounds of the US Capital, is a living plant museum and every visit is a different experience as the Garden changes throughout the seasons. Participants will have the chance to explore the large indoor Conservatory full of plants from around the country and even the globe at their own pace. Trip includes transportation only. CHANTILLY, VA The Udvar Hazy Center displayers thousands of aviation and space artifacts, including the 1903 Wright Flyer, the Apollo 11 Command Module, an SR71 Blackbird and the Space Shuttle Discovery. Participants on this trip will also have the opportunity to experience an educational space film in the Airbus Imax Theater. Trip includes transportation and one preselected show in the IMAX Theater. ELKINS WINTER SPECIALSCENIC TRAIN RIDE ELKINS, WV Join Rockingham County Parks and Recreation on a trip the Cass scenic railroad. This scenic, vintage diesel-powered, fourhour train ride departs at 11 AM from the restored Elkins Depot on Railroad Avenue. The train’s route follows the historic Tygart River to Tygart Junction with a return stop at the Historic Golden Rule building. Throughout the trip, the train will pass by old ghost town that once lined the river as well as old coke ovens and coal loadouts that helped to power the American Industrial Revolution. New to this year is a 45-minute stop (on the return trip) in the historic Golden Rule building in Belington, WV where you’ll have a chance to learn about the history of Belington and Barbour County, see a restored water powered elevator, observe our working railyard facility, and shop at local artisan markets.
